My doctor just put me on subutex along with percocet. I've been on percocet for yrs for severe and chronic migraines. He told me to take the subutex and if it doesn't work to take a percocet. I usually take 15 mg percocet at a time. I've read some stuff online that worries me. Some people say if you take percs with subutex you'll go into withdrawals. I went through severe withdrawals with fioricet months ago and I don't want to go through that hell again. I took my first subutex about an hour ago and I still have a migraine so I want to take a perc now. Can I do that or will I get sick?

I have always been told that narcotics or opoids actually caused migraines..i have been hospitalized several times and given dilaudid which is the hydromorphon that is mentioned in another reply and every time ive gotten migraines and ive also taken subutex and gotten migraines and my dr had mevon fiorcet for a long time which has always worked for me but it quit and my new dr put me on a med called maxalt. Its non narcotic or barbiturate. Which is what the main ingredient in fiorcet butalbital is,a barbituate.

Yes it is safe to take opiate pain medication on top of suboxone as far as it putting you into withdrawals is concerned. I know doctors usually recommend that you don't just because they both have a depressant effect on your system, and if you take too much it can cause your respiratory system to shut down. I've never seen someone that has a high enough tolerance built up to opiates that they are taking 8 mgs of suboxone a day have any problem with that though if they are taking the prescribed amount of a painkiller. As far as causing withdrawals, you can take opiate pain killers after taking suboxone just not the other way around, so if you do take something else don't take suboxone the next day like you usually do, you'll need to wait at LEAST 24 hours before starting up the suboxone again. The bigger issue is that suboxone (buprenorphine) blocks the effects of opiates, and so taking them shortly after taking suboxone is worthless. You would have to take so much to overpower the suboxone and actually feel the effects of the painkillers that you would be in danger of overdosing... You really would need to wait at least 24 hours after taking suboxone for it to even be worth trying to take a different painkiller, and even then suboxone has a long half life too, and when you've been taking it for awhile it will still have some counteracting effect on the opiates for at least 3 days. You should be able to get some relief from the painkillers after waiting 24 - 36 hours though. I hope this helps, please be careful. The best thing to do is always talk to your doctor. There are other options for painkillers that are not opiate based like tramadol that they could prescribe you as well. Best of luck, I hope you get feeling better soon.

I have been on subutex for a month I quit taking it yesterday and did a morphine today I didn't feel the morphine at all I was wanting to know is it safe to still do my subutex tonight

Yes. As long as its subutex and not suboxone. Subutex doesn't have naloxone in it, which is what makes suboxone unsafe to take shortly after an opiate.

yes it worked an hour after I had taken a little bit of morphine I took the subutex and was fine. just be sure it is the subutex and not suboxone.

Ive been on subutex for 2yrs and have taken percocet and zero withdraw. You won't feel high but it helps with the pain. As for suboxone if u do opiates before u take it you will go in withdraw but a friend of mine was on suboxone and did H the same day and was fine she just had to take a lot more H to feel "high" because the naloxone as subutex is just bupernorphine. That being said from experience you can take subutex with percocet.

It sounds like to me u r a dope phene.why would u take anything at all while u r pregnant and take the chance of something going wrong with your baby.when i think of the alternatives i would rather suffer than pit my baby at risk.het your head out of your ass and believe u me there is more to life than painpills and drugs.

He is just another pill head that has no idea what he is talking about you got sick because your body could't handle the dose very small amounts of subutex can make you feel like your in withdraw your body will adjust and you will do fine. Avoid any advice from people using words like pain killas.

Subutex is not a blocker naloxon is the blocker in suboxone subutex will intensify any other opiate pain killer.

I have 2 roxicodone 30's and 2 of 80's I have been on the subutex not subito new treatment a few months and I am stressed in a lot of pain with my hips dislocated, I really want to take the pain pills but I am scared I will waste them and not feel them, the most I take a day is 8mg of Subutex last dose was yesterday......am I gonna waste them and am I better off insufflating the roxi's? I am hurting bad...... thanks please no mean answers the shot is all confusing to me one person says one thing and then another says something opposite.......

Most likely u won't feel them or get euphoria from them. But They mite help your pain a little bit . But if u really want to feel the euphoria and get real pain releif u should wait at least 48 hours after sub. Sub binds so strongly to your receptors that it takes about 48 hours befor u can really " feel" any other opiates. From experience, I've taken at least 5 80's and a few roxi on top the next day after taking sub and basically felt nothing , and wasted the pills. And it doesn't matter if u insufflate them or swallow them, u most like are not gonna feel them, so hold off one more day so u can actually enjoy your pain pills. Either way, u won't get sick or anything like that, but u won't feel high or get serious pain releif.

I have been taking hydros and oxys for about 4 years or so now -the last year I take on average 50mg/day. I have not been able to be without them. The last 3 days I have tried subutex and taken about 4-6mg daily and been fine. I'm wanting to take a hydro, not sure if it is safe, if/when it will even do anything

Jane from message 133...What is your problem! I can not believe that you would risk the baby's health just because you "kept your faith in god". I, myself am an addict and i could never live with myself if i did something like that! The fact that nothing too major happened to your child does NOT make this OK. I would maybe try to rethink having anymore children until you figure out how to be a decent parent/human being! You should really be ashamed of yourself! You make me sick and you need some serious help!

I have been on suboxine for four years I just had an MRI and found out I fractured my back I've been in a tremendous amount of pain , my doctor gave me vicoden for pain I said I didn't want to take them because of withdrawells , she told me to take half my dose of subs for two days then stop subs I'm in serious withdrawals now course vicoden ain't touching withdrawels or back pain so I bought a subutex knowing there is no narcain so therefore I won't withdraw ..
