Taking Subutex And Percocet Together (Page 14)

My doctor just put me on subutex along with percocet. I've been on percocet for yrs for severe and chronic migraines. He told me to take the subutex and if it doesn't work to take a percocet. I usually take 15 mg percocet at a time. I've read some stuff online that worries me. Some people say if you take percs with subutex you'll go into withdrawals. I went through severe withdrawals with fioricet months ago and I don't want to go through that hell again. I took my first subutex about an hour ago and I still have a migraine so I want to take a perc now. Can I do that or will I get sick?

EVERY body is different. I would take a little at first and then if you need more later take more until you are feeling ok. Subutex will give you a habit just like any opiate. You shouldn't take it longer than a week but your not just going to feel normal after being off of it. It will take awhile just like anything after being off of it. I don't know if what I've told you helps. God Bless You.

Thanks for the words of wisdom. What a love hate with all of this. To think, the money spent elsewhere is just crazy. Which is really the worst part of it. If it were free and didn't have to increase tolerance then it would be great! If only lol

Not if it is just percocet and subutex like I said before it has to be because their tolerance is to low. Now mixing suboxone and percocet then it would moat definitely put them into withdraw. Like I said before I been on subutex for 5 years now I have taken perocet, loratab, oxycotton, just about every opiate you can,think of back when I was abusing my meds and not one time did I go through with drawl from mixing with subutex. Taking other narcotics with subutex just enhances the meds. Believe me I know what I am talkin about.

If they are pregnant they do not need to be on suboxone strips and they don't even make a subutex strip. If the person is pregnantes then they only need to be on subutex I know that to beca use I have had 2 children already and was on it and now I am pregnant with my 4th child but 3rd child on subutex

Subutex is an opiate and has been prescribed for pain, in the beginning as I was in a bad car accident 5 years ago. Drs suggested I get on methadone. They gave it to me during my 4 week visit, 18 days of it was in a coma then had to go to rehab because my left leg was crushed, every rib I have was broken. They are now clamped together. Ripped my aorta from my heart, dislocated my left shoulder and broke my right hand. Moving from the bed to the chair brought tears to my eyes! They tried bout every pain medicine available. Still in so much pain they tried methadone. It helped me so much! So with my history with drugs but definitely had to have pain meds the Drs suggested I go a methadone clinic. I did after about 2 years. Which during the time I was in and out of pain mgt gettin by best I could. At first it was a miracle! Then it started making me very moody, I was on it 3 years, my 2 sons talked to me and was like you got to do something a friend had a Subutex and I was dope sick really bad he said take half put under your tongue. I was mad, I didn't want a half of nothin of course I b****ed he said I have the other half just give that at least 30 min. But I was convinced it wasn't gonna work. Boy was I wrong! Within 30 min I was comin back alive I got them for few days and my children noticed a big diff in my mood and depression. They said they didn't know what I was doin but to not stop doin it! Lol I've been on it for 8 months now and I'm doin great! The problem with takin other opiates with Subutex. Is that the pain medicine doesn't really work unless you stop your Subutex for about 24 hours. Takin any opiate with Subutex will not make you sick because it doesn't have the drug naloxone which is the blocker that's in suboxone and bunavail. Do not ever take suboxone or bunavail if you have opiates in your system, naloxone strips your body of any opiates. So you better be in some kind of withdrawal before taking either of those drugs. Naloxone is given to ppl that have over dosed on opiates. Some schools are teaching children how to administer a shot of naloxone to someone who has over dosed! That's sad! But taking Subutex with perks or any other opiate should not cause you any problems. God Bless :)

I have been on methadone maintenance for 13 years. Its ruining my life. I can't go anywhere bc I have to go to a clinic everyday. I want to take subutex not suboxone. I scared I will get sick. Im at 52mgs. Someone help me... will I get sick if I take a subutex the next day?????

yes people get this right!!! Subutex is just buprenorphine. It does not have noloxone in it. It will not get u sick if u take it after pain pills. Suboxone will it does have the nalox. Best wishes.

I had a neck fusion and 2 lower back fusions in the past 8 years. I went on subutex strictly for pain.
I just went to the er for tooth pain that turned into an infection. They gave me 4mg morphine and antibiotics through an IV drip. They sent me home with a prescription for antibiotics and Percocet knowing that I'm on subutex. Can I take both subutex and Percocet?

Do it!!! I use to be addicted to pain pills like crazy and ever since I went on subutex I have been my real self. I never had any withdrawals. Just make sure you take enough. The starting dose of subs may be one 8mg pill or strip if suboxone... If you feel sick take another half. Im telling you I love the subs... they take away the withdrawals and the mental cravings. You actually can live a life without obsessing over pills. and it can also help with moderate pain but you wont experience any kind of high.

You'll be fine. As long as you took the subutex first. Don't do the reverse tho, that's what will get u sick, percs the subs will get you sick because the bupe has a higher affinity for your receptors than oxy does. And then withdrawal occurs because the bupe fits in your receptors but doesn't turn them on like oxy or any other opiate does. Got. It???

You can't take other opioids when on a suboxone program. You can on Subutex. If you take other opiates on Subs it will throw you straight into withdrawal.

I agree completely with what you said! I had my hip replaced, had to taper off subutex, to start taking narcotics (they WERE needed because of the surgery). But now my pain Dr wants me to STILL take the narcitics (they make me feel CRAPPY) & the pain is mostly controlled with OTC anti-inflammatory meds. I have been tapering off opiates very slowly, but the withdrawals are kicking my butt, especially at night. During the night (last night) I couldn't handle the sweats, jumpy legs, feeling sick, etc. So I took 2 mg if Subutex & it worked like a miracle! I WANT to be off opiates & just get back to Subutex, I feel SO MUCH better on them! I suffer from chronic pain & some may argue that Subutex doesn't help with pain. It helps ME to live a semi-nornal life, narcotic-free!

Just to also clarify AGAIN AS A FEW HAVE CORRECTLY stated subutex has no naloxone in it so if your using it you can theoretically feel euphoric effects from naroctic analgesics but most likely you wont. The bup in it is stronger than most all opiates out there and over powers it. You will not withdrawal if you cross use these medications. Now suboxone is different and also different with each individual. It will put you in withdrawal and the time for which this happens varies person to person. Best advice is to be in withdrawal before you take it and even better advice is to refrain from opioid use if your taking either. The drug's purpose is to maintain your wellness while detoxing ..or getting off pain killers in some cases where someone has legit chronic pain but has a problem controlling opiate use. It's used for pain management. That's why I use it. It keeps me clean and controls my chronic pain... MY QUESTION IS WHY ARE PEOPLE TAKING THESE DRUGS WITH OPIATES? MAKES NO SENSE. IM NO DR BY ANY MEANS BUT I QUESTION A DOCTOR'S KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL AND ETHICS IF HE IS PRESCRIBING THEM TOGETHER. GOOD LUCK ALL.

PARAMEDIC: You are so wrong. THE BUPRENORPHINE ITSELF WILL GIVE YOU WITHDRAWALS. I was never on Suboxone, only, Subutex, and I went into HORRIBLE precipitated withdrawals from doing Subutex too soon after opiates. I have posted this many, many times. DO NOT TAKE SUBUTEX TOO SOON AFTER OPIATES/OPIOIDS!!

CHAD: Bad advice from you. Subutex absolutely will throw a person into precipitated withdrawals if taken too soon AFTER opioids. If he takes the Subs BEFORE the Percocet, he should be ok, but he most likely will not feel the effects of the Percs.
