Can Sulfamethoxazole Tmp Ds T Affect Heart Rate?

I am very very concerned about the side effects of this med. The dr gave it to me for upper respiatory ( possible viral infection) i take other meds for panic disorder. How safe is this med when you have to watch your heart rate ??

I know this is an old post, but I would like to add some information for anyone else that may be wondering.

Sulfamethoxazole with Trimethoprim is a generic for the antibiotic Bactrim, which is used to treat various types of infections and one that's known to be effective against MRSA.

Now, in most cases, it will not have any effect on heart rate and someone will be able to take it without any problem, as long as it doesn't interact with their other medications.

However, about 3% of people end up being allergic to this medication and when that is the case the only thing I can really say about it is that all bets are off!!!!

An allergic sensitivity may cause elevated heart rate, elevated blood pressure, joint aches, muscle aches, hives, skin rashes and other problems that can be very dangerous.

I have to advise anyone that's concerned to go with your gut and if you don't feel comfortable taking it, then ask your doctor for a different antibiotic.
