Subuxone Day 2

Updated

I have been on Sub for about 36hrs now. I am taking 24mg/day. I feel awful. I waited about 24hrs before starting the sub after my last dose of heroin. I did a small amount of oxy 12hrs before. I thought I was following the rules. Any insight? How much longer will I feel bad. I haven't done any opiates since starting the Sub. Thanks.

I felt really groggy when I first started taking suboxone. I felt like I could just fall asleep and buzzed. Those side effects do go away- but I noticed when I didn't take my full dosage it helped- ALOT! Maybe take a little less and see how you feel. Yes, no withdrawls but your body has to get used to it.

And yes, you are right, sometimes the dosages do need to be adjusted. Usually, they start you off with what they consider a mid-range dose, they have you take it for a few weeks, then when you go in again, they will ask how it worked for you and adjust from there. If you suffered severe withdrawals, they will raise the dose and lower it gradually, if you were knocked out and had too many side effects, then they assume your dose is too high and they will give you a lower one.

suboxone helped me tremendously to finally take control of my addiction. The first 3 or 4 days your body is detoxing. You will feel sore all over, and generally just out of it. Your body has to relearn to do everything without the aid of opiates. So you will feel bad of course. But not as bad as cold-turkey. Suboxone can make you sick if you continue to take opiates while still on the drug. If anyone has any other questions about addiction or medication i would be happy to answer them.
