Suboxone Jump

Updated

Went to my sub. dr. yesterday and he lowered my dose of 12mg per day to 8mg. or one film strip. I told him I want to get off sub. completely so he,s gonna taper me down to very low dose. I asked him about WDS. and he assured me that there would be next to none. I doubt this. He told me he would prescribe Tramadol when I got off the Suboxone and then wean me off it. Has any one tried or heard of this method?

I've not heard of tramadol being used for WDS, but I tried it for pain once. It made me feel creepy, gabe me wierd dreams, and didn't help with my pain ( kind of like me subox expierence). Everyone is different though, and it migh work for you. We are all different.

I also tried it for pain a long time ago and it did not work. Are you off suboxone, were the wds bad as they say?

Sheeez they always replace something with something. I'm on the biodine programme and my doc suggested me transferring to the suboxine film also. But idk about that idea!!
But I was sent home from hospital after my baby was born, with a box of tramadol but I didn't take it coz it made me feel weird and yuck. So idk how effective that'd be for wds from the film but I H2G that you get some comfort and that you successfully jump off xx :)

Only thing I like about suboxone is that I don,t have to go someplace each day for dose, sub doc gives 30 day supply to take home, just need to see him once a month. Not sure if drs. do that with biodone.

Usually the Suboxone itself is just very, very slowly tapered, to prevent the worst of the withdrawals and it isn't replaced with anything else at the end of the taper schedule.

As to the Methadone/Biodone, that depends on the specific laws where you live.

Are there any other questions or comments?

I decided to get off Suboxone about a month ago. I had a prescription of Adivant 1mg and Ambien 10mg to help me. I was taking 1 8mg film at the time but figured I could handle the long withdrawals with the help of the other meds. I was wrong, for me the REAL withdrawals didn't kick in for about 7 days, I woke up in the middle of the night covered in sweat and shaking. Everything hurt, my bones my muscles my skin, everything. I was getting sick every few hours and the rest of the time I was curled up in a ball rolling back and forth on the floor. This went on for over a week, to the point that the two meds I got to help were doing nothing to ease the pain. If this had been like any other opiate withdrawals I would have just stuck it out and took the Adivant and Ambien when things where bad, as most opiate(Vicoden, Oxycontin, Heroin, etc) withdrawals last only a week to a week and a half with the worst of it being over in the first few days. But not with Suboxone, the WD's went on and on and on and on.......To the point that I finally broke down and got back on Suboxone but at 2mgs a day instead of 8mgs. I felt like crap(mentally) getting back on Subs after being off for 3 weeks and going through so much pain for the last week and a half or so. But in the end I feel like I made the right choice, the fact hasn't changed that I want to be completely free of drugs but I refuse to suffer that much if at all possible to avoid it. So my new plan is to take off a pin head sized piece from the already small 1mg piece everyday, until there is less than a sliver left then drop that in water and drink it, as I have been told from my doctor that is the easiest way to do it. But even doing it this way I am anticipating to be uncomfortable as there really is no way to avoid it when getting off opiates. I know that the withdrawals are made much worse by your own damn worries than they should be, and already having problems with insomnia and panic attacks every so often doesn't help but I am hoping the next attempt(in about a month or so)won't be anywhere near as bad. Anyways, the point of this story is that coming off Suboxone is not easy, with meds or not. You have to be ready mentally and physically, if thats the case then bring your dose down as low as you can then just go for it, and good luck.

I have been there and totally agree. It is false marketing that sub is easier to kick. If anything it is harder. I was on it for 3 years and tapered all the way down to 1/8mg. That's basically dust from a 2mg pill split so many times. Then I went to every other day and still suffering. Finally I just took a whole 8mg pill and got whacked after reading this method on the internet and other than not sleeping and no energy, I was generally ok but took about a month before I was "me again". I know your post is old and I'd bet if you arent using your on subs still. Nothing personal, just I've seen it over and over. people stay at 1mg for a year, it's truly terrible but so is being a H or pill addict. If I was a sub doctor I would do 6 month detoxes and if the person wants to stay on, that is there choice but really once you are adjusted to Subs there is no difference between 16mg or 2 so not sur why doctors push 16mgs. That is way over prescribing.
