Suboxone Hell

Updated

Suboxone was intended to be used to help with withdrawal in a detox setting. The fact that doctors are giving an addict who abuses highly addictive illegal opiates, a legal drug that is highly addictive, often abused just complicates the entire problem. So many addicts call it a miracle drug..really? I think thats taking it a bit too far!! No drug should be labeled that way. Whether your taking a medication for drug abuse or allergies no drug is good for you.Suboxone has many side effects. People on suboxone are so quick to say that it saved their lifes...could it be cause your living an illusion becasue your on the drug. It sounds ridiculus to me that addicts proclaim that an addictive drug saved their life to help battle their drug of choice. recovery comes with hard work, working through your problems and cleaning up the mess you made out of your life. Mending relationships that were destroyed due to your drug abuse.not to mention the countless number of problems that were cause because of the addiction. My daughter is a heroin addict and has fought this battle for 6 years and it has been shear hell for her, our family, friends and anyone who comes in contact with her. She decided to go on suboxone and it was just another bad decision. After she bought it on the street from drug dealers and shot it up for years trying to self detox for days then doing herion for days, A doctor thought shed be a great candidate for the clinic....hmmm whats wrong with these doctors? So she went to long term rehab for 6 months followed by a three quarters house, where she sits abusing the drug. Its as though her doctor wants that to happen.after 18mon of treatment she says she is drug free, the miracle drug saved her life. All I see is similar behaviors of herion. She has a drug mantality, self centered, self absorbed, lack of motivation. She is under the illusion that suboxone is helping her...the only way suboxone is helping her is that we know how it is made unlike heroin, its legal, affordable, and dosnt have such a high fatailty rate, she even says its better than doing herion. Mind you she has been in 18months of recovery, with no end date for the suboxone. She is not alone, many join her, many abuse them, sell them, and act as it is a soulution to drug addiction.Suboxone is hell. This is a very discouraging walk, not a very high rate of sucess in recovery as it is then we got suboxone to make the whole situation worse and prolong a life that could be drug free.

Actually, Suboxone has proven to be very successful, it has enabled many people to beat their addictions and become completely drug free, by tapering off of it.

However, what you have to remember is, such as in the case of your daughter, some people run the gamut of addictions for years and to safely get them to a drug free point, it may take a very long time, years in some cases.

Too fast of a taper could risk her very life and I doubt you want your daughter in such danger.

Suboxone is the cure for someone coming off opiates and having to stay productive for a job or as a mother. The emotional side effects from the previous drug abuse will take some time for the suboxone treated patient to eventually be free from, but that's just how addiction works. It sounds like the original comment was confusing suboxone with methadone - a drug replacing a drug. Suboxone blocks the effects of a high and when the person on suboxone does heroin or opiates, they can't get high because suboxone has already binded with the receptors in the brain which inhibits the person from getting high. That's the difference between suboxone and methadone. Your daughter is in a much better place now on suboxone, she's just probably pissed that she can't get high, but again, that will take some time for her to heal. Be patient and supportive. Without suboxone, she'd be back on heroin. With suboxone, she'd be throwing her money down the drain if she tried to get high off heroin. HOpe this helps!

patsy I understand suboxone can be very helpful for someone who is serious about recovery. The truth is there is NO cure for addiction. There is no magic pill, its up to the individual and how much they want to recover. i dont have suboxone mixed up with methodone not at all. The truth is although you may not be able to get high due to the blocker, you can get high from abusing suboxone, shooting or snorting it. It also can effect the effect of other medications that are prescribed. There happens to big a huge problem with suboxone addiction.
