ANY opiate PLUS ANY benzo is not a good mix. Yes you can mix the two,but def not at high doses, DEF NOT. At lower doses like one 2mg sub a day and two .5 kpin, Im sure itll be no problem. But seriously, Im not condoning it because its not safe. Im just answering your question honestly. Don't push it,use at your own risk. Mixing the two can only be pushed SO FAR so watch out. BTW I am not an expert with this stuff,im just a user whos trying to get clean, I feel you. (Opiates and benzos are a deathly combo in high doses. But suboxone is bupe and naloxone mixed together. Narcan blocks the opiate in the sub, therefore mostly eliminating the opiate effect. But the opiate is still there. What I cant tell you is if the opiate in the sub will affect you when youre mixing it with a benzo......just my side thought about it) good luck

Dealers Hydroponics Hi yes I can help you I have a lot of experience went off methadone 3 times cold turky on 245mg it was the worse thing in the world been on subs three times and still am the only thing that help with the withdrawel is the benzos but be easy you can die from it but what they dont tell you is it is usually because it gets u so high people take to much keep it low and benadry liquid caps with it helps tremendously it was the only way I was able to sleep after almost three months no sleep you know what I mean the sub you should break in quarters if you can make it last or it will just build you up and make it hurt worse you should just go on the suboxone low does and then cut back slow it is a horrible thing I have experienced more times then I care to share.

I rave been taking 8mg of suboxen for 9 years for back pain, it helps but not like norco, but I also don't feel like I have taken anything like when I was on norco. I have very high anxiety that the my Dr. is beside himself. I take 2mg of xanax extended release with the suboxen and have had know bad feeling from it as long as taken as prescribe. i have complete faith in my Dr. He is not only general practitioner, but he also is a pain management Dr. and also has several rehab centers, so if you believe in your Dr. don't believe everything you read on the internet.

Hi Swaggdaddy! I'm on 24mg of suboxone a day and I also take 3 mg of Klonopin each day. I get them both from the same doctor. I have never had any problems and have been taking them for years. As long as you take them as prescribed.

I'd try to get to a Dr immediately! I'm not a Dr., but I've been on suboxone and diazapam. I guess as long as it's closely monitored, it's ok. My doc just started doing blood exams for liver enzymes and has also made an acception in my case, as I'm sensitive/allergic to many meds, so after being a miserable lab rat with other meds, I was finally put on kolonipin. Also being that it is addictive and can be abused, that's the last thing that a Dr wants to give an addict! I've been clean for just over 3yrs now, have had bad anxiety and then had an accident which brought on ptsd, which is worse than kicking dope! I am just greatful to be alive and sober, and I really don't think I would be where I am now if it wasn't for the 2 meds! Hope you get the help you need and get better!

The narcan does not block the buprenorphine in the sub. The narcan does not put u in withdrawals alone, the buprenorphine itself is a agonist the inhibits the receptors of the brain and blocks any other opiate. That's the misconception of subs. People think they can take subutex with out any withdrawals, totally incorrect, it is same as suboxone when coming to amount of buprenorphine in it, both will force u into withdrawal cause of the bupe. Narcan, naltrexone, etc was never meant to be taken orally, just like bupe as our enzymes in our saliva kill almost the entire 2mg of narcan when taken orally anyway and thats why the bupe in suboxone is up to 8mgs a tab because your enzymes kill much of that as well. Drs do not know much about subs as you may think, they take a 8hr written evaluation or less and suddenly they are pros just to make that 100 patient quotta. 8mgs of suboxone to actually reach your bloodstream is a s***load od bupe. Do u realize when u go to the hosp in withdrawals and if the hospital gives u a shot of buprenorphine, that shot is 0.3% of a mg of buprenorphine and it works super. That means, a 8mg tablet is equivalent to, get this now, 24 shots of buprenorphine at hospital and one shot does the trick so u see, when drs prescribe three 8mg tabs a day, 72 shots in hospital setting a day, thats way to much, even when the enzymes in saliva are eating up the buprenorphine but u still get way more then the 0.3% that could hold u. Buprenorphine was prescribed also to animals, mostly feline for pain called butrenex or butrans, the later I believe is bupe patch for humans, but was prescribed in mcg to animals. Buprenorphine is very powerful. My dad is a thoracic vascular surgeon and does not have the x factor in his dea number meaning he didnt take that pathetic 8hr class to prescribe subs for addiction but can write a script of suboxone as a off label script for pain management cause of his narcotics license. So 95% or greater of the drs you people are telling these addicts to listen to really dont know much about subs or addiction at all., u really gonna have to find a specialist that isnt just taken in the quotta of patients just for the buck, one who knows his business. If u really want to know if he knows, ask him to explain the Harrison prescribing act and how it allows him to prescribe bupe without the x factor in his dea number, meaning no class taken, and how long he can prescribe bupe for addiction and how he must do it. Like I said, drs can prescribe bupe for pain but not for addiction without x factor, but Harrison act gives three day window to all drs but a certain way.

From what I've always been told by my doctors, suboxone and benzons can stop your heart rate IF you take much, don't over do it but a half of strip or so will probably calm you. I used to take benzos and subs together, for my high. Im lucky to be alive. Been clean almost a year now, with the help of prescribed suboxone.

I have Lyme disease and it has caused Chronic Complex Pain. I have tried many Opiates and nothing helped in the least. There are some newer studies indicating that Buprenorphine can be effective. Unfortunately I was put on a Fentanyl patch which didn't work so my GP kept increasing the dose to 125 mcgs and I still felt no relief. Obviously now I had to contend with coming off the patch so I could try Suboxone for withdrawal and continue on it for pain. At the same time our health officials decided no one could take Benzos with Opiates so I had to stop Xanax at the same time. I tapered down to 50mcgs then ripped off that final patch and went into 72 hrs of withdrawal hell. Only the thought that I would have to do it again if I quit, kept me going. I still had a few Xanax left and I told my Dr that I would take them if withdrawal was too unbearable.. It was! I did my Detox with an Addiction Specialist who deals with Complex Pain patients.... she knows her stuff! She agreed to the Xanax for the withdrawal and once I started on the Suboxone she told me to take as little Benzo as possible as it can have fatal effects with the Sub. My advice would be the same she gave me, take as little as possible. I used Clonidine, Naproxen, Tyenol, Melatonin, Imodium, Pepto Bismal and Benadryl. I think I would have swallowed arsenic if someone had said it would help...LOL! I started Subs two days ago and I'm still in a lot of pain but it's nothing like the withdrawal. I am on 16 mgs right now and see the Dr tomorrow so we'll see what she does dosage wise. Are there other pain patients here that can tell me how long it takes before the Subs start helping with the Pain? My sis detoxed off of Morphine (24hr detox) and was up and running around after her second dose. I'm on my third day of Subs and can hardly walk because my legs hurt so much.. Any advice or suggestions?? Thanks and best of luck to all!!!

I'm going to update my own post; I know the original post was three years ago but I also know when I was in withdrawal, I was desperate for information and answers. Hopefully someone else who needs help will run across this post.

I had to be in full withdrawal for 72hrs when I came off my 50mcg Fentanyl patch. I had tapered down from 125 mcgs to 50 mcgs when I decided I didn't want to continue endlessly with the tapering. Plus I'm a chronic pain patient and couldn't go on anything else until I was off the Fentanyl and 32 mgs of Dilaudid for breakthrough pain.

Would the withdrawal been less severe if I had jumped off at 12.5 or 25 mcgs vs doing it at 50?? Probably although I have heard ppl say the last 12.5 mcgs were the hardest by far to taper off at. My Specialist originally was going to detox me off from 62.5 mcgs but called me a couple of days before to say she felt it was still too high a dose of Fentanyl and asked me to taper one last time to 50mcgs which I did then went right into the detox so basically I was in some withdrawal all week but the last 72 hrs were with no drugs whatsoever and the last 24 hrs was pure hell! It may not be that way for everyone; I'm a pain patient with Chronic Complex Pain so not only was I in withdrawal, I was receiving nothing for my severe pain. My legs were knotted up so badly with almost Charlie horse spasms up and down my entire legs. I normally take 4 Tinzanidines a day but I wasn't allowed to take them with the Clonidine so there were a lot of factors at play.

As far as taking Benzos throughout the withdrawal, my Dr didn't want me to but understood my extreme anxiety about being in horrible pain ( which I was) and agreed to it but asked me to take as few as possible. I took Xanax .50 at the most three times a day which is not a high dose. In withdrawal, I wasn't taking any Opiates, hadn't started the Suboxone, so there was nothing that I could have a possible drug reaction with. I think Drs try to encourage you not to take Benzos, esp if you are an addict, because they are highly addictive and they don't want you to change one problem for another. My problem was and is pain, not addiction, so taking some Benzos to help me get through the withdrawal was not a huge risk. I've taken maybe one a week since I started the Suboxone BUT I have to say, I probably wouldn't have been able to do the detox/ withdrawal without the help of a Benzo.

So it's now bapparentlyabout 3-4 weeks since my Detox. I saw with my sister who went through a 24hr withdrawal from Morphine, that she responded instantly to the Suboxone. She had two pills under her tongue and was out shopping, amazing if you consider she was bedridden for two years beforehand! Unfortunately my reaction to the Suboxone was not at all the same as her; I was still in considerable pain. I saw the Dr the next day and a week later and I remember asking her when the Suboxone would kick in...if I needed to build up a certain level? She told me I was still in withdrawal from the Fentanyl, apparently it takes a long time to leave your system. It was very true, my hands were shaking, had the sweats plus runny eyes and nose for another two weeks. It wasn't until my two week check up that I finally felt good and had for the past two days.

As a pain patient, we are asked constantly by Drs to rate our pain from 1-10. Even with 125 mcgs of Fentanyl and 32 mgs of Hydromorphone I was at the lowest, a 7. On my two week Suboxone check up I was able to say, for the first time in 5 yrs that I was a 4! Of course it's been up and down, bad days, good days, bad moments, good moments but there has been a significant improvement in pain levels. Unfortunately it is not all great with the Suboxone, both my sister and I sleep long hours....sometimes most of the day and all night. We are both very lethargic and unmotivated to do anything even minor household chores. We have another appointment with the Dr at the end of the month and hopefully she can stabilize us at a level that the pain is manageable but we have more zip and zest for life. We both went through a period of about three weeks with horrible vivid nightmares but fortunately those are less frequent now. I hope my posts have helped others going through Opiate withdrawal and Detox and going on to Suboxone. Pls feel free to comment or ask questions.. Best of luck!

Sounds like the op just wants somebody to say it's ok to combine the two.. well let me put it this way.. ive been on subs for several years..before that H and before that methadone (yes i did the addiction thing in reverse methadone was my doc and when i drank opium tea the doc cut my methadone cold turkey so i started taking H at a whopping 6 to 7 gram/day! Which got real expensive. (Enter The Mighty Saint Suboxone!) Since i began the Subs i have seen 4 people not wake up in the morning (yes..dead...final exit..gone) from mixing klonopin and Suboxone..and every one of them had been mixing the two regularly without need to up the dose.. its a totally random sneaky killer combo.. the dose that worked yesterday might be the reaper in the same clothes tonight.. its like wetting 1000 cannon fuses and putting one dry one in the mix and lighting one each night before you stick your head in the cannon barrel..whether it is it a risk worth taking depends upon how much value you put on your life and how much respect you have for the person who is going to suffer the trauma of finding your corpse should you get the dry fuse...nobody in their right mind would say its ok.. but all 4 of my friends who died knew that this was the reality and chose to risk it.. are you a gambling man/woman?
