After reading this site, I really had to laugh at all of those so called Christians. Do Christians ever go to school and get an education? Addiction is a DISEASE, just like Cancer, AIDS, Diabetes, etc. So, to those of you who are railing on this poor guy, all he is asking is for truthful, good information, not your own personal, religious beliefs. Susan is a whack job and needs to go back to High School. The others need to understand why this site exists; to provide truthful information and help minimize harm to a person. You are blaming the victim, when they have a disease. Would you say these things to a Diabetic, or a person with a Brain Tumor? Why don't you talk to your GOD about that?

Something that was not pointed out, even by the other physician, is that Suboxone has two medications in one tablet: Buprenorphine and Naloxone. It is the Naloxone that has the three day half life. What it does is covers the receptors that the Narcotic binds with. Emergency Rooms use some form of this medication in cases of overdosing, to bring somebody out of a Heroin overdose. The manufacturer put it in Suboxone, so people cannot use other narcotics while taking Suboxone. There is another medication, called Subutex, which does not have the Naloxone in it. This is just Buprenorphine.

By the way, for all of you Bible-Thumpers and judgmental people, what do you think the NUMBER ONE PRESCRIBED MEDICATION is in the USA? It is Vicodin. Well, the number one medication prescribed in Europe is Buprenorphine!!! It has JUST been approved by the FDA in a patch form, to control pain. The manufacturer in the US is Pharma Purdue. Look it up.

So, everyone who is not answering this persons question and just spewing your uneducated, idiotic opinions need to go elsewhere. Get off your soapbox, because nobody wants to read what you have to say. It is not educational, or helpful.

I began the Needle Exchange program in San Francisco, to prevent the spread of AIDS. All of the Conservative Christians are so up in arms about it, because they are not educated. Go to Switzerland, where they have FREE Heroin clinics. All you have to do, is go in and get a sterile needle, with Pharmaceutical grade Heroin and have a SAFE PLACE to shoot up.

Maybe all of you dumb-ass people should do a little research before you start giving out your opinions. Switzerland is a VERY conservative country, but they are also very educated and do the RIGHT THING! So should we, instead of being controlled by these whack-jobs in our government.

EDUCATION, EDUCATION EDUCATION!

I can't get over the people who have commented negatively.
The kid wants to know something, but instead of helping you abuse.
I think the negative ones are the ones wanting attention and need help.
Addiction to heroin is a horrible disease - I have been on and off it since I was 14 (now 36.) The last thing someone like me needs is lame arse comments from morons.
You are only showing hate and ignorance.
Addicts know they have a problem and this kid has obviously gotten help - but until you have been there, battling the mind f***s each day, you shouldn't comment.
So let's hope no one close to you gets caught up in this nasty situation, because you abusers would only make them want to do more.
I just drove my best friend to the Dr's for help with her addiction, for the 7th time... When we were on our way home, her dealer answered her text, saying he would meet her, so she asked me to drive her...
I could have abused her and made her feel lower than she already was, but what is the point?
I know what it feels like to have Miss Heroin niggling at my feet - and I know it's super hard to beat the desire to get on.
So I drove her and at the same time scored for myself.
Beating the want for heroin is hard, and the f*** it attitude is too strong sometimes... All I can do is be there for her each and every time she asks for my help.
AND, I knew I wouldn't feel the gear, but I had it anyway.
A lesson learned for me.
Your negativity isn't needed in this area - it's hard enough without you lot thinking you know it all.
So, Justsin6 ---- I hope you didn't waste it like me and got to read the useful comments before you used.

My boyfriend is a herion addict whos been clean for about 3months while taking suboxone. I found a needle he was hiding (not the first time eithier.) He said he was running low on subs so he was shootin up (subs.) To make it last longer. Im pretty drug stupid but I heard if u shoot up suboxone you will go into immediate withdrawals. And another point he made was if he mixes herion with suboxone he would get sick. But I also heard it depends on the person. Idk what to trust because it seems like everything is a possibility.

This is all garbage advice. Everyones body, metabolism and tolerance is different. I know people who take sub every day before work and get high every night afterwards. I've heard different opinions. Some people say it actually gets you more high. Others say it's a waste. I've experienced both.

susan you sound like some overprotective conservative parent. the original poster asked a question, not for your opinion. if you would like to give your opinion, take it somewhere else where they will actually care.

anyways, you'll have to wait at least 24 hrs before you shoot again. 36 hours and your perfectly fine, but any less than 24 hours and you wont feel a damn thing. waste of dope if you ask me. try to get on the subs man, they really work!

You won't feel the heroin for at least 36 hours (I am speaking from personal experience) If you are a long time heroin addict, suboxone may not work for you..I have been an opiate addict since I was 14 and I will be 56 tomorrow, so I know a lot about tapers, withdrawls cold turkey, etc..I wish people like this Susan would STFU, this is not a board about recovery, we don't judge here, and if we do, we don't last long. I hope that every opiate addict would quit doing dope, but that is not my business..I just hope that no one has to go where I did, before they quit (I am on methadone maintenance) Good luck to you Justin and I hope you keep posting to let us know you are ok

I looked on every forum of every site trying to find out the same thing... In fact, to the t. Except I took a half sub at 6 am. So it is 4pm now... 10 hrs later, I just shot a gram. In all honesty, I could be more high, but I did feel it. Let me clarify, I only used sub for one day.

It differs with every person but its 8 to 15 hours. If u feel sick, chances are u are good to go :)

Actually u can shoot subs there is a very particular way to do it... Otherwise you will get very sick. But that does not mean that's really what he is doing

you can shoot dope 5 hours after but won't feel much... wait 4 hours per mg of sub.. so if you took just one 8mg thats about 32 hours... then all the receptors will be cleared of subs

BTW I forgot to say swim took 1 8mg sub at 9am it is now past 1am & 20 bags later & no effects were felt besides the iching rush swim is entering a rehab in 48 hours & got 35 bags today now with 15 left finally decided this will not work until the 36hr period. This was only 1 strip taken not a daily thing. It would not be recommended by swim to do anything for 36 hrs minimum or you would be wasting your money. Be safe n know there's a life beyond opiates. For swim methadone has worked for years of a good life & will be going back on after the rehab. There is a good life out there let's all try to find it. I wish the best to all & can only pray that swim will make it this time It's been 10

My daughter is a heroin addict, has been for 2 yrs. now.
She also takes benzos. She tried methadone but the clinic got to expensive after she lost her health insurance! She is now on Suboxone and seems to be doing ok. Now she is on a waiting list for inpatient rehab. She has lost everything... her home one of her children and she lives with me now! We have been through a lot and my only hope is that she will continue to well and accept the help she so desperately needs!! If not then she is on her own... she is a grown woman and can make her own decisions... right or wrong!

Susan, no one NEEDS god. that's ridiculous statement. Only the week and uninformed believe they NEED god. My God is the one true God and he doesn't force himself on you, or try to make you fear Him into believing or worshiping Him. He wants you to come to Him and you will have a true one on one relationship. The one True God, HAIL SATAN!

BTW, just because someone is an addict doesn't make them a terrible person. It is NOT a character flaw, it's a disease. I am so sick of people who treat addicts and recovering addicts like less than human because we suffer from a very common illness. Grow up Susan.

it is pretty obvious how little educated some people are on what is going on in the real world. I was addicted to heroin and believed in God. Since when are junkies nonbelievers?

But for real, dude. Don't take heroin while on subox. Honestly, I would wait until the withdrawals start, because otherwise it is a waste. When I was on it I wanted to test it..... Did not do a damn thing.

I wouldnt do it at all. Sell what you have left and buy yourself some xanax... Or something nice. Heroin destroys your life. I can promise you that. Hell yeah it feels great, but in the long run you end up with nothing. Take it from experience. But you are gonna do what ya wanna do.
