No, as long as you haven't missed any pills, you are still protected from pregnancy for the entire month.

You should check with your doctor, before doing this, but it's usually safe for most women to just continue the active pills and skip their periods at a time it would be inconvenient to have it, such as right after you get married.

To do so, you would just skip the inactive week and move right on to a new pack of pills.

Are there any other questions?

Gaby, if you have been taking it continuously for months and haven't missed any pills, then there isn't a protection gap, at all. Whether you are starting a new pack or not.

Even though you have a week of inactive pills, or some packs have a week where you just don't take anything, you are still protected against pregnancy around the clock.

When you are new to the pills, it can take them a few days to reach their effectiveness, so if you start them when you aren't on your menstrual cycle, you have to take them for 7 days, before you are protected. If you start them on the first or second day of your menstrual cycle, you are immediately protected.

They work by preventing ovulation and thickening the cervical mucous and this is continuos and ongoing, as long as you don't miss any active pills, even though you have that break week for your menstrual cycle.

So, as long as you haven't missed any, you shouldn't have anything to worry about. It's not like starting fresh with each pack of pills.

Is there anything else I can help with?
