Started Sprint 3 Days Before Period

So i took a break from taking sprintec birth control pills for a month. I stopped in November and started taking them again in January. My period checker stated i was supposed to have my period 2 days later. Ive started the pills beginning on sunday now i have a brown discharge, is this normal? Am I ok?

Well, when you're on oral contraceptives, your period will adjust to them and not stay on its usual schedule, additionally, by stopping for a month, you threw your hormones levels off and a period checker would most likely not be totally accurate, anyway, since it doesn't take that into account.

And, since restarting some unusual breakthrough bleeding is also to be expected, as listed by the FDA, other side effects may include headaches, irritability, weight gain and PMS like symptoms.

However, if you are concerned, please speak to your doctor.

Cool! Thank you for answering. I wasn't overly concerned but i was just wanted to know. I wish i wouldn't have taken a break, but now im with someone and feel more secure by being in the pill. How long do I have to wait until the the brown stuff goes away? It kind of looks like it was a little blood in it but its still dark.

That's actually old blood, which wasn't expelled during your last period. This sometimes happens and is generally nothing to worry about, the pills just caused a hormonal fluctuation, which opened your cervix, so it could be released. Other times, it would just blend in with your actual period flow and you may not notice it.

I really can't say how long it will last, but unless your doctor sees reason for concern, you should be able to continue with life as normal, as well as intercourse.
