Snorting Percocet, Illegal?

Updated

A year ago I had a very dangerous case of pancreatitas I was hospitalised for a month and of that 10 days were in a coma. I contracted MRSA staph. After being discharged my orders were to continue my antibiotics and percocet injested through my nose as my stomach could not take chemicals and the snorting aspect kept meds into my stomachat a minimum. I had been taking pain meds orally for over 10 years orally for a different painful diagnosis I kept snorting the percoset even when the pancreatitis was not inflamed. the snorting I felt would have more effect on my pain situation and still figured the apap would be less harmful in general to my stomach.
I had come under scrutiny by law enforcement as they considered snorting any med a practice only of a junkie. Would anybody concur that snorting any meds would have any medical benefits that I can use my criminal defence. Thanks

Yes, snorting medications is considered illegal. Using any medication in a manner other than the way it is intended is considered illegal.

And the reason they consider it to not have any medical benefit is because there are medications available that can be used by injection. There are also some that are in nasal spray formulations. So, your pain could be managed, without snorting them.

In addition, crushing and snorting a tablet can be very dangerous, since there are fillers in tablets, which over time, can cause blockages in the sinuses and lungs.

In addition, once your stomach improved, there are also medications available that do not contain the Acetaminophen, which you could have used. Percocet contains Acetaminophen and Oxycodone, but the Oxycodone is also available, by itself, in several different formulations.

I'm afraid that, unless you have proof that a doctor told you to use them in this manner, you really have no defense.

Are there any other questions?
