Small, Green, Scored, Unmarked Pill.

Updated

the pill is quite small, mid to dark green in colour with a score line down one side and no imprinting on the other side. I was told that it could possibly be some form of morphine but really need to know what it is.

If there is no marking at all on the tablet, then it is not any type of legal U.S. prescription medication, including Morphine.

All U.S. prescription medications MUST have imprints on the tablets or capsules that enable them to be identified in case of emergency.

That said, without a marking, there is no way to positively identify it. There are many pills that meet this description, including over the counter vitamins, supplements and medications.

I am sorry, I really wish I could help you more.

Does anyone else have any ideas?

My aunt is in hospice and they just switched all her meds, took her off extended release morphine and using oxy now, she has 4 pills, I have identified 3... 60, 30, and 15mg oxy. The fourth is a tiny lite blue pill that has NO MARKINGS. she says they are very bitter and her nurse told her they were extra super fast release ox15 mg. I thought ALL pills has to have markings. I never seem to make it over to talk to the nurse. I'm just worried my aunt is taking them wrong. She Saud she was told to take them for "instant" relief and were supposed to melt if she can't swallow. Any info would be great.

Not true- it is indeed a US pill- a small VERY fast disolving morphine- strictly for terminal hospice or home hospice patients. Each dose can only be given through the care of a a med professional. My mother in law passed away this passed July at home. Her final week she was given this same medication sub lingual for discomfort since it was the only way for her rest in the end. The hospice nurses by law had to crush and mix the meds with baking soda within a half hour of the passing. Seemed a little inconsiderate seeing as how my m.i.l.'s body was right there next to them.... But it was part of their "job". Hope and prayers to you and yor aunt & family.

what worries me is that they aren't crushing them, or even monitoring them... they just leave them there for her. I guess I need to get ver there and actually talk to that nurse. which is NOT an RN, just an LPN... hmmm

Carefulgirl- just take a quick minute to speak with the nurse & ask questions. Is your aunt terminal? If so, sad to say, but the pain relief is usually unlimited. At least here in California it is.

The nurse never seems to be there at the same time and I have asked her to call me so I could get over there when she is there or so I can at least ask the questions. Yes we have weeks maybe months if we are lucky... thanks everyone for the answers and prayers

I'm sooo sorry to hear that :(
I know this may be upsetting and hard to understand, but along with the physical pain comes the mental and emotional pain for your aunt. Of course we the loved ones feel just as awful, but for your aunt its a very different emotional road. Feel free to come back to this post anytime and ask me questions about what to expect- one thing you have to expect is that there will be alot of pain, & with the right hospice, there will be alot of pain relief- probably unlimited. Take care

Thank you! I am aware of the unlimited pain releif and actually quite grateful. But I sometimes think my aunt doesn't always know, or ask... and I just dont want her doing or taking something "wrong". Called that nurse again and I hope she will at least call me back.
