Sinutab - Where Is It?

Updated

I have been trying to find Sinutab, have they quit making it? Why? It was the best allergy relief I found.

No, the manufacturer still lists a page for it and it being available.

It contains Acetaminophen and Phenylephrine.

There are actually many products on the market that contain this combination, both generic, store and name brands.

Have you tried perhaps asking your pharmacist what else might have the same stuff in it?

I have, also, been trying to find Sinutab sinus caplets. I called the manufacturer and they said it is no longer sold in New York. There is a K-Mart store in Trenton, New Jersey still carrying it.No help to me.

I called the manufacturer on Jan. 12 and was informed that Sinutab has been discontinued and it was a marketing decision.

Sinutab was the best sinus medicine I have tried and I'm very disappointed to hear it has been discontinued due to a marketing decision. I have been searching all over for it. When I'm sick, I want something that I know works.

How stupid a decision to discontinue Sinutab! It is the only OTC sinus pill that relieves headache, congestion and sinus pain. In other words it did what it was supposed to do. Bring it back!!!

In Ireland the manufacturers McNeil have re-branded Sinutab as Sudaplus. Exact same ingredients, tablet size, box size. The only difference is the packaging.

Active ingredients are in generic form at Walgreens called Walfinite-D. No tylenol so you need to add your own if you also have pain. Im glad to find it without the analgesic.

I took an empty box of Sinutab to Walgreen's a long time ago to see if they had anything that would replace it when it was no longer available. (I did the same thing at Bartell's). Both brought out their pharmaceutical books and stated that I would require at least 4 different products OTC to match Sinutab. Unfortunately I no longer have the box an certainly wish I did as I am some what skeptical of Walfinite-D. But, will try a small box of it along with some acetaminophen. Their Aller-Tec certainly isn't working!

SINUTAB was the Only sinus Med that relieved my blinding sinus migraine and didn't make me sleepy, like Sudafed did. That "marketing decision" was clearly a STUPID one!

I agree with everyone else that Sinutab WAS THE BEST OTC out there!!!!! I am suffering this season for sure, and have been using store generics the past couple of seasons, "OK" but not the total relief I used to get. Sudafed doesn't agree with me, so I'm just trying to get lucky with others I try. Too bad marketing companies don't survey first before taking things off shelves, I always thought marketing had a lot to do "with us...the public"...just sayin'!

I just came back from Portugsl, where I was recommended Sinutab 2. It was awesome
One pill every 24 hours, and I felt grest. It opened my sinuses like nothing else. And it was only about 4 euros ($4.50) for a box of 15. I wish I had brought more home.

The U.S. medical industry ( laws) are far behind those of europe.

Re: Tina (# 25) Expand Referenced Message

Sinutab's main ingredient was Phenylephrine HCL and acetaminophen. It has no PE also known as "pseudoephedrine". Today, you can get a decongestant with Sinutab's ingredients but without the label. So look for the ingredients and not the label. CVS sells Sinus PE, which refers to "Phenylephrine" with HCL and this decongestant says "pseudoephedrine free". This could be confusing because PE refers to two different meaning. Look at the label that says PE free and that contains phenylephrine HCL I have copies of the original Sinutab label with ingredients and the current labels of decongestants with their labels showing the original Sinutab ingredients. Unfortunately unable to upload them here.

Re: Ceil (# 33) Expand Referenced Message

You'll find the original Sinutab ingredient, PHENYLEPHRINE HCL, in other decongestants under a different label. CVS sells the decongestant under the label Sinus PE, which contains Phenylephrine HCL and says "pseudoephedrine free". Walmart sells the same decongestant under the Equate label. Ephedrine is banned in Europe and is bad stuff. It appears that the makers of decongestants with ephedrine forced the makers of Sinutab to remove their popular and effective decongestant out of the market. And then the makers of the ephedra crap put the successful label of Sinutab onto their product in an attempt to fool the public that their product was Sinutab. Their approach was false, misleading and proved their product was useless.

Re: Patricia (# 40) Expand Referenced Message

When you look for a decongestant that works like Sinutab, look instead for PHENYLEPHRINE HCL which is the main ingredient in the former Sinutab decongestant. The label "Sinutab" now either does not exist, or if the label is used, it does NOT contain the original ingredient of phenylephrine HCL that Sinutab had. Always look for PHENYLEPHRINE HCL in the decongestant. Under the label Sinutab, big pharma includes ingredients like ephedrine...really bad stuff that was banned in Europe. This morning I took a decongestant with former Sinutab ingredient, Phenylephrine HCL - sold by CVS under the label "Sinus PE" and the label says "pseudoephedrine free". You can find the true Sinutab ingredient at CVS, Walmart & other places.

Sudaplus is Johnson & Johnson. Not the same product at all.

Yes, I was disgusted when Sinutab was discontinued. Now the decongestant with the true, original Sinutab ingredients is being sold by CVS under the label "Non-Drowsy SINUS PAIN & CONGESTION." the label states ingredients are: "PHENYLEPHRINE HCL", the true ingredients of Sinutab. The box of Phenyephrine HCL shows a red color and a green heart on the lower right corner and light blue caplets. Years ago, I contacted Canada Pharmacy & they confirmed that they continued to sell Sinutab. They also told me that Sudafed, the bad decongestant, was banned in Europe and Canada, but Sinutab was popular. Of course big pharma in this country does not care that they sell crap, like Sudafed, to Americans. When Sinutab was being eliminated, I bought 20 boxes & I got another 20 boxes of a decongestant with Sinutab ingredients. When sinutab was sold under the Equate label, I bought some boxes, but it too was being eliminated and hard to find. Also Big pharma stopped selling Sinutab to Canada & Europe. Who knows what other countries big pharma stopped selling Sinutab to. My guess is that the pressure to eliminate a popular decongestant like Sinutab may come from Sudafed. Take note, GOP capitalists, how badly Big Pharma capitalism treats American citizens! Their standard of providing medical treatment for Americans is unfettered greed. On the other hand, when a treatment, like Sinutab is popular & desired, Socialist countries respond by ensuring their citizens receive what they really want. The moral of the story is that capitalism can be as much tyrannical as communism, taking choices away from people.

Re: Noreen from NYC (# 5) Expand Referenced Message

I think it's disgusting that mfg of SINUTAB discontinued it and even changed the label of other sinus decongestants to call them Sinutab even though these decongestants do not contain the original ingredients of Sinutab. I ordered 20 of the last Sinutabs in about 2008. Be relieved that the ingredients in Sinutab are being sold under a different label...EQUATE. Since equates sell several types of decongestants, you have to find these ingredients: acetaminophen + phenylephrine + HCL. These were the original ingredients of Sinutab. Also the caplet color for this is red and green. I buy them at ACE Hardware. They are manufactured by Lnk International. See this link for the new image of the caplet with ingredients of the former Sinutab. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Equate-Rapid-Release-Sinus-Congestion-Pain-Relief-Gel-Caps-48-Count/14122822

The original, working Sinutab was white with a pink layer on one side. It is the best sinus cure in the world. However, the sinutab contained codeine which is banned in the USA. Therefore you can't buy it here or import it. I lived in South Africa for many years and some people got hooked on it by taking it every day.
With the new USA laws about importing or being in possession of Opioids I don't think you can even buy it overseas and bring it back with you.
