Im currently in a suboxone program and taking 24mg/day.. im also on lamictal, prestique,& clonopine 1mg4aday. I've. Had sciatica problems for years now..my family dr prescribed me soma 350 2/DAY BUT Now my suboxone dr wants to cut me down on my suboxone because of the soma. My point is, i have no harmful effects (feeling strange,dizziness,etc.. ).. i dont think its fair that i have to loose one medication because my dr gave me something. That actually HELPS with my bk(sciatica nerve problems)!! What should i do, what should i tell my suboxone dr. To make her understand!!??

Hello, Ceeps! How are you?

Your doctor is perfectly correct in being concerned. Suboxone, Klonopin and Soma can all cause depression of the central nervous system, which could result in shallow breathing, lowered blood pressure and lowered heart rate, which has the potential to be dangerous. It could cause heart or respiratory failure.

Thus, it is only natural for your doctor to want to lower one of them, as a precaution, to avoid putting your life in danger.

Soma may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and dry mouth.

Both the Suboxone and the Klonopin carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness and constipation.

The best thing to do is just be honest with her about how the medications are affecting you and discuss your options.

Does anyone else have any advice to add?

I understand, I've dealt with many doctors like that over the years, myself.

So, I really hope you can get her to understand.

Can you post back and keep me updated?

I also take Subutex, soma and klonipin. What other benzo would be better? I have to be on this type of medication or I am paralyzed due to being kidnapped by human traffickers. It did a lot of damage to my brain and body. I am prone to depression. I wonder if I should go back to adivan then.

Suboxone, Klonopin and Soma: They are all addictive, interact between then and will complicate your life eventually.
Soma is a muscle relaxant drug not for neuropathy! and is abusable and addictive as the other two you are taking.
The interaction of carisoprodol with essentially all opioids/suboxone, and other centrally acting analgesics. In recreational drug users, deaths have resulted from carelessly combining overdoses of hydrocodone and carisoprodol. Another danger of misuse of carisoprodol and opiates is the potential to aspirate while unconscious.
Do you want sobriety?
The Suboxone has to be decrease or you will be at risk of complications, tolerance and cravings and eventually relapse.
Soma is quite dangerous and there is no indication for sciatica

I do think that you should be back on the Ativan as it's not as sedating at klonopin (sp?). My docs have had me on Ativan for over 15 years for anxiety/depression and refuse to change me to xanax or klonopin for fear of my breating slowing down too much. Good luck and I hope that you find the right med for you.

I have been on soma and oxy for 15 years. Now I moved back to California from South Dakota and they won't give me my meds. I have frobromyalgia and six types of arthritis, plus a lot more. I am in so much pain I scream. Can barely walk. Working on pain management, but I've have had to sign up with two different insurance company's. I don't live anymore I exist. I wish someone could help me. I was on six oxys a Day and eight somas ,two four times aday. I want so bad to even do dishes. Does anyone understand?

Do not take Suboxen and Soma pills together. The whole purpose of Suboxen is to send a message to the nerve ending stopping the pain. If you take another narcotic Suboxen will make you vomit . No drugs when your on Suboxen. Your doctor should have told you that before prescribing Suboxen. If you quit the Suboxen you will need to go to rehab for 3 months. That should tell you how powerful that medicine is. I know all of this because I went through it with Suboxen.

Carisoprodol (Soma) and Buprenorphine (Suboxone or Subutex) both increase sedation. Use Caution and you will need Monitoring. The sedation will interfere with your capacity to function, drive, operate machinery or even enjoy life. Being sedated will make you prone to accidents. And there is risk of accidental overdose/death, forgetfulness, taking the pills several times thinking you have not taken them... The brain does not like to be sedated, it will fight it by activating mechanism to be alert and when it happens you will not feel the effect of medications (tolerance) and will pursue more until your brain can not keep you alert and you most likely will die.

Best way to take Soma is to take it according to doctor prescription and directions as i have seen many complaining about it's side-effects and addiction but I didn't go went through any side-effects and addictions when I was on Soma medication.

Re: Verwon (# 2) Expand Referenced Message

I have to agree, the combo you are on is a dangerous mix. All of them can drastically reduce the amount of oxygen in your body and can actually cause you to have central sleep apnea, which can be deadly without treatment. My methadone has caused me to have a very serious case of central sleep apnea and I am at a low dose, too. My advice is to have a honest heart to heart with your doctor about your feelings on dropping something that works for you. Perhaps she would agree to just reduce the dose first to see how you do? Give it a try though, these medications have synergistic properties that can make a drug act much stronger when mixed with another drug, like benzos and opiates for example. I am sure your doc is only worried, but still discuss all this so you can be safe while deciding what changes to make. You have rights, too!!!!!! Good luck!!!!

There can be several side-effects of Soma pills if not taken according to doctor's guidelines and directions.Although i have not experience any side-effects when i was on Soma medication and am very happy about it.One should be very careful about it consumption.
