Please send information on the drug sentanyl. Side effects etc.
I think you are talking about the drug Fentanyl. Please see the info page on that medicine...
Please send all information you have on the pain patch called Sentanyl.
Hi Stacy,
The pain patch is actually called Fentanyl (with an F). It is most often used for post surgical pain in the hospital.
Fentanyl is a very, very strong opiate narcotic for severe pain. It is most commonly used for cancer patients who are suffering chronic pain. This medication is 80 times stronger than Morphine, so very dangerous, many side effects and highly addictive.

sentanyl is not fentanyl, I too am trying to fine info on sentanyl
Sentanyl IS a new pain med. I don't know if its even on market yet, but there are clinical trials going on throughout the country. I don't know the applications for the drug itself so far, but I am hoping to participate .
Can find no information on the narcotic, Sentanyl. It is not Fentanyl.
I received it during a colonoscopy and had a severe headache with extreme vomiting afterwards.
It is Sentanyl NOT Fentanyl, and my wife popped positive on a urinalysis for it even though we haven't a clue what it is? She takes other pain meds for a brain tumor but we've never heard of this and I can't find any info on it?
Any help out there?
I just did some research, using several of our resources and, from what is listed, it's just another brand name for Fentanyl, which is also commonly prescribed under the brand names Duragesic and Actiq, it's just a different formulation.

Al, what else is she taking? Is she on any other opiate narcotics? Many of the synthetic or semi-synthetic ones are known to cause false positives for their drug relatives.
Hi, She's on Avinza, Lyrica, Percocette, Topamax, Ambian, Detrol and a host of supplements!
AL, from that list, my guess would be that the culprits are probably the Avinza, which contains Morphine and the Percocet, which contains Acetaminophen and Oxycodone, because both of the relevant narcotics, Morphine and Oxycodone, have been known to cause false positives for other opiates.
This leads me to believe that the place that did the test probably doesn't use a certified one and, when they don't, false positives can occur anywhere from 4 to 50% of the time.

Has she discussed this with her doctor? She should try to get them to run another test.
I will for sure be talking to the Dr. since this is the "pain management" Dr. she sees regularly!
Thanks for your input!
I also had Sentanyl 50 mcg during a colonoscopy two days ago. I have not been able to find out what else they gave me for the sedation. I was just sleepy the evening of the procedure, felt fine yesterday, but today I have a headache with occassional hard stabbing pains.
Sentanyl IS on the market and I have a prescription for it. Dropped it off at the drugstore and will be picking it up later this morning. All the confusion has me royally concerned as I also have a new script for Hydromorphone for break through pain to take T.I.D. The obvious answer answer is my pharmacist. Until then, can anyone clear this up?
