Round Orange Suboxone Not Fully Off Methadone Big Mistake!!!

Updated

I have been on methadone for approx 3 months. I'm on 55mgs. I recently heard that suboxone was a much better way of life as an individual coming off opiates (suboxone gives more energy, more focused, kills cravings even when leaving your system) so I, like an idiot, bought 4 of these generic suboxone orange pills, thinking I could convert myself. The night I bought the pills I had taken my dose of methadone around 9am. I took half an orange pill, let it dissolve under my tongue around 9pm. I had a slight stomach ache then fell asleep. The next day I figured the methadone was fully out of my body & I took a whole pill and a half. By 9:30 I broke out in cold sweats. I tried sitting at my desk and began feeling terrible leg and joint pains. I was scheduled for work that day and had to leave because the withdrawal symptoms were so bad. It was the worst experience I've ever had. I know it was my fault in taking matters into my own hands but my intentions were good. I got tired of the daily visits to the clinic and genuinely thought switching was a better method. My insurance doesn't cover suboxone so I tried switching myself. NEVER AGAIN. I hope it's out of my body today. I'm scared to go back to taking my dose of methadone. But it's my day off and I'd rather go through it today before returning to work tomorrow.

It usually takes about 3 days for Suboxone to release its hold on your opiate receptors, so other opiates can start working.

The FDA classifies Methadone as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation.

For anyone else with questions, you must wait until you are in full withdrawal, before taking Suboxone, or it can cause you to go into dangerous precipitated withdrawals.

Is there anything else I can help with?

It's worth it to make the transition to Suboxone, trust me. Methadone tethers you to a clinic, and gets you high. With Suboxone you can get up to 2 months supply (1 month w/ a refill) that you fill at a pharmacy like a normal person. There is no high, you just feel NORMAL and FREE! Making the transition to Suboxone from methadone wasn't easy, but it was absolutely, positively worth it. Best decision I ever made. Get on Suboxone and start to feel alive again.

Suboxone refills are against the law. And to get your month's supply you must SEE the dr (at $150-200 per appt.) each month to get your script. There is no "calling in" subs or "I need a new script bc my dog ate it" kind of BS. Yes, it's easier than going to a methadone clinic everyday, but they don't take any crap either. It's highly regulated.

Re: Age (# 4) Expand Referenced Message

The true way to go from methadone or any full on opiate to suboxone without any withdrawal symptoms or side effects is to first take subutex for a at least week before starting suboxone. The naloxone in suboxone fights with whatever opiate is in your system and makes you sick. Subutex does not have naloxone so you can bypass the withdrawal symptoms. Or just stay on subutex if you choose. It can be harder to get from doctors sometimes, people tend to abuse it more.

Wrong. Bupe will throw you into PAWS regardless if Naloxone is present.
