Propranolol Ir Vs Propranolol Er

I've been taking Propranolol 40mg tablets 3x a day. My doctor has switched me to 120mgs Propranolol extended release. Is there any difference other than one being instant and the other extended?

No, that's it. The one was regular release and the ER is slowly released over the given time period. Time released medications can help give better blood pressure or cardiac control and increase medication compliance, since they don't have to be taken as often.

Propranolol is a beta blocker that's most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. Typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, hypotension, stomach pain and increased urination.
