where did you find that information. that is not a vicodin 10. i am a nurse and I know what all types of vicodin and hydrocodone pills look like. I have one of those pills too and I cannot seem to find any information on it.

hi, i found the information about the pill you found... It is listed under the Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen Medicines, although it is NOT a vicodin [1]. It is manufactured by a company of Caraco Pharmaceuticals. The pill has 10mg of hydrocodone and 325mg of Acetaminophen so it is a little safer than a vicodin in the aspect that it has less tylenol but more hydrocodone. So it will give you more of a high. This pill is basically a generic Norco. I am prescribed the yellow Norcos which are 10mg of hydro and 325mg of tylenol. (same thing) They (the pill you found) are generic and very rarely given because most docs will just prescribe the yellow norcos which are manufactured by Watson and that is probably why it is so hard to find information about this particular pill. Either way it is a pain pill narcotic so if she wasnt prescribed the medication, it was probably given to her by a friend. A lot of people take them for the high. They can be easily addictive but not from just one pill. the pill usually last about 4-6 hrs. If she isnt prescribed them, I would flush it. Hopefully this helps you. Thank you.

Some added information on Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone, depending on the dosage, it can be a generic for Vicodin, Lortab, Lorcet or Norco.

There are all narcotics, used to treat moderate to severe pain.

Doctors do not usually prescribe one by any particular manufacturer, when getting a generic, you usually get whatever your pharmacy has in stock at that time.

Some common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

You can read more about the medication here:

being a nurse doesnt mean anything. that doesnt make you smarter than the rest of us so before you say it isnt a vicodin do your research and you will find that it is indeed a vicodin just a generic brand.

yup its a Norco 10/325 I looked it up on pill Identification, its a lot better then vicodin but it still has the same thing as vicodin like hydrocodone.

Well personally, I think that being a nurse makes her a lot smarter and more educated in that department than we are. I mean she only works with prescription drugs everyday, so therefore knows more than you . So just accept it and get a life

Actually Angelwings, Just because she's a nurse and works with prescription drugs every day, does NOT mean she knows EVERY medication out there and she is in fact wrong! She stated that she knows ALL forms of Vicodin and Hydrocodone, what they look like and that it wasn't a Vicodin 10, when in fact it is! (Hydrocodone 10/325 - Norco). And if she's a nurse then she would know what the poster meant when they said "Vicodin 10" where they meant Hydrocodone 10, and that they are pretty much the same drug with the only difference between them being the amounts and the ratio of hydrocodone to acetaminophen, both pain killers, made of the same two active ingredients. She would also know that when people refer to their medication as Vicodin, that they could mean any version of the three brands which is Vicodin, Lortab, and Norco because of the same ingredients used in all three brands and that they most likely don't know the actual brand but just as some form of Vicodin. So before you go telling people to "get a life" for correcting a so called nurse that was the first to jump the gun with misinformation, maybe you should consider "accepting" that you're both wrong and getting one yourself.

Good answer! If she were a pharmacist, then she'd know more than the rest of us. Nurses, aside from nurse practitioners, can't even prescribe medications. Some RNs might dispense meds but there are so many generics out there, with new ones popping up all the time, that it would be hard to know every number for every available pill. And Angelwings must have missed the part where the nurse erroneously stated that she knew all types of hydrocodone. She was right that it's not a Vicodin but it is hydrocodone. A nurse should know better than to give out wrong information when attempting to identify medication. With the new formulation, Vicodin now makes a 10/300 and this pill is a 10/325.

For chronic pain, I believe that it is goid to rotate different manufacturers brands of norcos, if possible. It's more effective when your tolerance gets high from years of use

I would be more concerned about finding the pill in my child's car with no prescription than anything about a nurse, not a nurse, what they know, etc. Many young people use these prescription drugs to party, and I would confront my daughter with it, and have a very serious discussion. Much more important than somebody's so-called credentials.

As a nurse, she doesn't work with pills, she works with patients. If she works at a hospital, then any pills she does come into contact with r name brand not generic. If she doesn't work at a hospital then she doesn't come into contact with pills at all...she has no idea what different types of generic pills are on the market...so try not to be a know it all....makes u look ignorant

Let's not jump to conclusions about this young lady. Perhaps the pill belonged to a friend who lost it. Maybe it was the daughter's from an old prescription. There are all kinds of scenarios that could exist here.

Now that the pill has been found, if I were the parent, I would watch my child carefully for changes in attitude, mood, friends, grades, and activities. If those manifest, then it is time to speak to the child about the pill.

Otherwise, I would let it go.

I was about to say something but you said it correct.HYDRO, NORCO AND VICODIN ARE ALL THE SAME. I FEEL SORRY FOR THIS ADDICITION. I JUST WENT THROUGH WITHDRAWALS BECAUSE THE DAMN VA WANTED ME TO EXPERIENCE IT . NO OTHER EXCUSE CAUSE THEY REALLY SCREWED UP. THREE WEEKS INTO DOUBLE WHAMMY, HYDRO AND MY DIAZEPAM BOTH. VALIUM IS FOR MY TBI.

Re: Erastosthenes (# 20) Expand Referenced Message

So basically do nothing and monitor your kids activities? I would go straight to her and ask her where it came from. Don't wait till her life falls apart and does something bad because you didn't want to help, you just wanted to watch. Congrats on having 5 successful children, not a tough task if you care a little.

Re: Amber (# 44) Expand Referenced Message

@Amber - Ummm, if her daughter is 16 or 18 or even 20, probably living at home and probably driving her parents' car, then it's NOT being a Nazi -- it's called being a parent. You will ALWAYS worry about your kids regardless of age. Duh.
