Percocet Dosage Limits 5/325 (Page 7)

I am taking the percocet 512 white tablets 5mg/325 for severe back pain due to degenerating disc(s). I have been told 1 pill every 8 hours, but find the pain so excruciating after about 5 hours that I cannot even stand... even to use the bathroom or shower. My MD cannot get me into a specialist until August, but I am having real stress here. Will it be harmful for me to take more than the one tablet per 8 hours??

To clear up your question for you, every doctors office prints stickers personally made up for each patient when they are diagnosed and prescribed a medication. The information you see on the bottle has been placed on the bottle by nurses or the docc, and was typed up according to their evaluation of your visit and what they believe you should take. I don't know that this is true honestly.. But after reading and looking at my perscription this is the answer I've came to. It would surely answer the questions in your post if ^ is the case. Hope I've been helpful, I hope that each one of you conquers your extreme pain with strength, that most won't notice, but all in your heart will surely see a totally grateful revived you that you've missed for so long. It pains me to read about all of you with horrible pain that not even percs can fully dull. I pray that a positive endgame to your struggles lay ahead in all of your paths..and I hope my post was of use in some way to whomever reads it.

I have back problems and recently became disabled due to extreme pain in leg due to back. I have had one dr prescibe 1-2 pills of oxycodone every four hours needed. And another dr 1pill twice a day both oxycodone both 5mg. Now I'm reading that the 12hour would actually be for OxyContin (oxycodone ER) which would of course be for a higher dose. Could a dr possibly get confused over extended relief vs immediate release

Bett, just because a prescription says to take 1 pill evry 12 hours does not guarentee that that is an extended release., although they usually are. Some pain drs will only prescribe an immediate release twice a day.

Oxycontin does Not come in 5 mg. So if the prescription bottle says that it is Oxycodone 5 mg/Acetaminphen 325 mg that means it is Percocet Not Oxycontin.

I am taking percocet 5-325mg and is white for my back pain, but when I check on all the percocet different types I don't see the one that am taking is white and the code on it is IP 203

Cindy owusum, white round tablet with IP 203 imprinted on one side is Oxycodone 5 mg/Acetaminphen 325 mg. It is manufactured by Amneal Pharmaceuticals

I was in a ton of pain with an injury so i took 2 5/325 Percocet at 10:30am then 2 more at about 4pm and 1 more at 10pm, i have been on them for a dew years for a reoccurring injury. Am i in danger for od?

Italian Queen, With the amount you took and the times frames you took them in you were not in danger of overdosing. In the future, if you think you may have overdosed, Do Not Wait for someone on the internet to tell you to go to the hospital.

The same to me my doc prescription was every 8 hrs or 6 and I just have dental surgery... And I use it for my rheumatologist arthritis

Will my body become dependant on 2 5/325 Percocet a day? I try to space it out to 8 hrs but I just can't. Have to do every 6 hrs and I'm fine the rest of the day because I go to bed early. I don't want a problem when I stop.

Ruth , each person is different. It also depends on the type pf pain that you're taking the percocet for. There is a difference between your body getting use to the pain meds and becoming dependent on them and you becoming psychologically addicted to the pain meds. Percocet 5/325 one every 6 hours is not much. There are a lot of people that take Percocet 10/325 one every 4 hours. If the pain that you're talking the percocet for is suppose to get better, then you shouldnt have any problems when you no longer need it. If on the other hand the pain you're taking the percocet for is only going to get worse, there will come a point when the percocet 5/325 aren't strong enough.

In pain . My dr thinks I'm seeking too many drugs I'm afraid the surgery didn't work. I can't walk very far without being in pain and I wake up in severe pain. He begrudgingly gave me Oxycodone-Acetominophen one pill twice a day. He said sarcastically I'll refer you to a neurosurgeon if you think I did a bad job. He got me very upset and I was crying he doesn't seem to understand my pain . I was in the hospital seven days and needed two blood transfusions. I'd like to get another orthopedic surgeons opinion but I'm afraid no one else will take my case . Also how many pills as written should I take in a day?

Doctors seem to always under prescribe and it definitely causes a lot of patient suffering .

Drugs that say good for 4 to 6 hours never last that long , try 3 1/2 effectiveness at best.

Robin , if the prescription says one pill twice a day, that is the way up should take it if you don't want to run out and be without pain meds. You need to look into seeing a pain management dr.

I know this is ancient but it just popped up! Caffeine, sugar and alcohol are the WORSE things for withdrawal! They intensify it! Drink plenty of water and/or juice. Do you don't have to read again: avoid things with sugar, caffeine and alcohol because they will make your withdrawal worse. Take some Imodium, benedryl and anything else that will calm you down and help you relax.

Taking one extra pill will probably not kill you. Just be warned that this drug can be very addictive. Just use your sense and consult your DR or there may be anonymous nurse lines to call where you are. Even ask a pharmacist. Be careful not to mix with other CNS depressants such as alcohol or benzodiazepines (xanax, Valium.)

Herb it's posed to be every 6 hours for opiate naive and every 4 hours for someone used to opiates Jeepers after five years of getting 30mgs 4/day..I had a doc last month prescribe 2 10mg perc once every 12 hours! I was like...what about the other 18hours? Acute or chronic pain it's still every 4-6 hours depending on tolerance!

I take the same oxycodone 5-325 for post ACDF neck pain... My tolerance has me up to 6 pills a day... I have also found that the right kind of cannabis helps tremendously... If you NEED to, start slowly to avoid OD...

Only a complete returd would advise taking a stimulant to combat opioid addiction when relaxing and sleep are 2 major withdrawal symptoms
