Oxymorphone 10 Mg (hcl Er And Without The Er)

Updated

I am probably just being paranoid, but I'm prescribed "Oxymorphone HCL ER 10 Mg tablets", (and that's the exact label law on my bottles) take 1 every 12 hrs. Today, instead of my normal small orange pill with G72 printed on it, and manufactured by Global pharm...I received a larger, white pill, imprinted with 54 814, manufactured by Roxane/West-War. But the question lies in the label...it's labeled as "Oxymorphone HCL 10 mg tablet". My question is....are these scripts the exact same, just maybe they left out the ER on the new one..but is it still extended release?? Any knowledgeable answers are appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Hello, Jami! How are you? Good catch, you do need to report this to your pharmacy.

Roxane lists this tablet as being a regular release formulation, not time released, so is seems that an error has been made.

The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation.

Having all of the medication release, at once, could be too much for you and may not give you proper pain control.

Is there anything else I can help with?

The ER would be included if the drug is extended release. I would call the pharmacy who filled it if you're supposed to be getting the extended release formula. I am afraid you got the regular formula instead of the extended version. Report it to your pharmacy asap so they can get you the correct medication or clear up a mix up. You were smart to question the label. Good luck and stay strong!
