Oxycontin 60mg Op Time Release Causing Discomfort

Updated

Since I started the 60mg op I have been feeling lots of discomfort in my chest, like pressure against my heart like a heart attack, but what I think is going on is it's backing up my bowels causing all this discomfort I never felt when I was just on norco. I've read here where op causes constipation, I'm wondering if this could be the reason for all the discomfort I'm in? I've noticed a change in my bowel movements, like smaller sized stools, not nearly as much is coming out like it used to do. Should I consider using a stool softener or a laxative to see if my discomfort subsides or should I head to the ER and say I'm having a heart attack only to find out I've got side effects happening related to this new drug I'm on? This feeling of constant pressure is really driving me crazy and is affecting my overall well being and I don't like it. The pain relief I'm getting from the medication is amazing, it's helping me so much, but if it's causing me this much discomfort then I don't think I should be taking it unless there's something else I can do to reduce this feeling.

Hello, Brian! How are you?

What you might be experiencing is some acid reflux from taking the Oxycontin, so you might need to take some type of antacid to prevent it.

Have you consulted your doctor about it, yet? It would be best to have things checked out, just in case.

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Pain medication often causes constipation and your doctor should be happy to prescribe you collace stool softener, which takes a few days to get full effect. You shouldn't be feeling chest pains. Call doctor right away

I was having the same issues with severe constipation then my doctor gave me samples of Movantik to take Daly and now I have no more issues with having constipation and I don't take it daily as it says to do because you will have to stay in the restroom but for me the 5 mg once a week solved my issues

Hello, I am blee, I am also on Oxycontin and was having the same problem. I have researched, found, and use this myself. Buy Magnesium Citrate powder it will eliminate this problem for you. I take it every night before bedtime with distill water and lime to ph balance my water. When taking Mg.Cit., you will need to take between 2-3 level tablespoon mix with juice or water. It can sometimes cause slight stomach cramps if you take more than needed. It is so much better than taking a stool softener I personally think and for a laxative that is one thing I would not want to start having to depend on, it can cause damage in the long run. Mg. Cit. is safer and can take for long term without damage. I prefer the powder better, due to the fact I want pure mg. cit. and not all the filler that come with taking it in the pill form. Plus not having to worry about swallowing big pills. You might want to take d-ribose for you heart pain. This will give you a lot of comfort. You can find out more about both of these at wikipedia. I do both mg.cit. and d-ribose. With d-ribose, I take it only when I feel my chest get uncomfortable. I hope you find comfort and feel free to contact me if you ever need some advice or friendship. I am also a chronic pain patient also. Take Care....
