When did it expire? If it is within one year, it is still as potent as if it were still in date. All Rx's usually start losing their effectiveness at a rate of 5-20% each year. But otherwise safe to take expired unless discolored or crumbling.

Well at least Im not the only one that knows the OP's dont work, and the old OCs were the brand until the end of last year. The old OCs work.
I know that Walgreens had the OC's as generic but then was told not to sell them as Generic but sell them as brand. I did fill a perscription with 40 OCs brand and then noticed that they said OC on them.
I have called a lot of Walgreens and they don't say much over the phone. I had two percrips filled as brand and saw that they were OCs.
Now when I call they say they have nothing bu OP's.
Can a pharmacist lie to you about what is in stock???
It seems that they are deciding to lie to you over the phone. M

I have called at least two different pharmacies. When the call is answered by a pain free person...they say we have the OCs but have to sell them as brand.

Walgreens stocked up on the OC's and they still have plenty (2/25/1011) but they get to discriminate who to sell them to. Pharmacy

Percocet does not become dangerous, once expired, but it may start to lose potency with time, so it may not have the same pain relieving efficacy that it did, when it was new.

The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth.

It is not safe to take more, so it is best to properly dispose of the expired medication, and see your doctor about being prescribed a new supply.
