Hi linny,

You were actually right on target with your assumption! Based on the description provided, I found an orange oval-shaped pill with a half moon logo on one side and 153 on the other, to be an 8mg Buprenorphine hydrochloride (sublingual) tablet; aka generic subutex.

For added verification, the manufacturer is listed as Actavis.

Inactive ingredients are reported to be as follows: citric acid anhydrous + crospovidone + FD & C yellow #6 HT aluminum lake + lactose monohydrate + magnesium stearate + mannitol + pregelatinized starch (maize) + povidone + sodium citrate dihydrate

I hope this helps!

A good friend of mine has been on subutex for years now. I look up to him sorta as a father figure. And he administers his subutex in other ways than prescribed. I know it isn't right for him to do anything like that, but I'm worried now cause he got his prescription yesterday and they gave him the new oblong orange tablet with 153 on one side and half moon symbol on the other. Does anyone know if these have any other ingredients that could be harmful to him?

Who is the manufacturer? How come you can't find them online?

@Curious,

In my previous response here (post #1), I had mentioned that the manufacturer was listed as Actavis Pharmaceuticals.

And you can actually find more information online by visiting the manufacturer's product information page at:

pi.actavis.com/data_stream.asp?product_group=1967&p=pi&language=E

@Jbird29,

From what I could gather, FD & C yellow #6 has reportedly been linked to ADHD, allergies, cancer, stomach aches, & inflammation of the skin, to name a few. They actually banned this food coloring agent in several European countries, including Norway, Finland, and Sweden, if that says anything about its negative impact on our health… I'm not sure of the other binders and fillers, but it would probably be a good idea to research each one individually and see what information you can find.

does the subutex 153 oval orange ones have the blocker in them

Subutex does not have the blocker in it, where as Suboxen does. Suboxen has Naloxen in it which is the opiate blocker.

I'm prescribed subutex and the only ones I get are the lil ones with the 8 on one side and the arrow on the other I just filled some yesterday so maybe Walgreens just don't have them anymore

Well I am prescribed the 8mg subtext pill two times daily and to tell you the truth I am not able to take my full daily dosage because the strength of the pill.Before I was taking the subutex I was taking between 12-15 percocet 10s a day so if I was you I would tell him to go easy on tgem they are very strong and probably dangerous to take more than prescribed and the doctor told me after your daily dosage like a suboxone strip 8mg that you can't get any higher on them so actually your wasting them because the pill is affective up to 36hrs is what the doctor told me .

And the 'blocker' does what exactly?

Naloxone is the blocker in Suboxone and blocks the affects opiates to the user. Basically takes the high out of opiates etc

Yes it does......it will kill him if he doesnt right.....and those have different ingredients and comound..............so please dont make him stop easier said then done.........hope all goes well..........

Omg, people are so uninformed. Naloxone only blocks the effects if introduced directly into the bloodstream. It works very short term. it's only there to keep people from dissolving and administering the pills intravenously. The buprenophine itself has such a strong affinity for the opiate receptors, it kicks everything else off, which puts you into withdrawals if you take too much after taking another opiate. This happens because it isn't as strong, so suddenly your receptors are screaming for more.

Wow they give you that much to take? I have to say that this pill has changed alot of people that I know that were bad drug addicts and now living great lives.....But the sad part is that people always mess drugs up for the people that really need them in life!! But i have to say great comment and hope it works out for you.

I think I’m allergic to the orange dye in the orange oblong subutex pill with the half moon. I’ve broken out in hives and my lip is swelling. I’ve taken the white oblongs and the circle ones prescribed and never had a problem, but this dye is not ok... Benadryl please.

Subutex is a miracle when it comes to helping you get off of opiates but it should only be used for a max of 7-14 days. Just to make anyone aware if you use subutex or Suboxone, Suboxone contains naloxone, if you use either of these for a long period of time the withdrawal will be 10 times worse than opiates withdrawal is. Too many people are unaware of the long term effects of subs. In the U.S. it is fairly new, other countries have had it longer and have much more experience and knowledge with it.

It is generic subutex. If you are on opiates this is a miracle drug to help you detox. Just take a quarter and if you're sick that night take another quarter. Wait a day and a half and take another quarter. These will def help you detox with minimal systems!! They are amazing! They have a half life so they remain in your system for awhile. If you are mentally prepared to quit, these will do the trick!
