This is a proton pump inhibitor that helps reduce the amount of acid produced by your stomach to treat conditions such as heartburn, GERD, ulcers and gastritis.

Side effects may include nausea, dizziness flatulence and stomach pain.

Thankyou for your reply.I have since been told that the Omeprazole 20mg which I had been taking for years,is not strong enough and the acid reflux has burnt the back of my vocal chords. I now understand why I had been having trouble singing particularly when going to sing a high note,I just gagged!
I am now taking Nexium 40mg which do seem to be helping and the constant irritating cough has stopped.Also singing is easier.Is there anything I should be aware of in taking this drug?
