i hv bn prescribed Nitrocontin 2.6 twice daily - but taking it causes sensations as if blood is rushing into my head and also increase in heart beats rate. does that mean the drug isn't suitable for me? (my BP is 180/110 for a couple of years without any perceivable problem. i am also taking one tab of Atorva in the morning for a fortnight now)

I read your case with interest. I was hypertensive (diagnosed in 1991) and was given a beta-blocker. That led to bradycardia (diagnosed in 1994). Angiography revealed an off-line blockage for which Calcutta doctors recommended balloon angioplasty. I went to the late Dr. TJ Cheriyan (Chennai) for a second opinion. He said no intervention or surgery was needed. He gave me Atenelol (Stamlo 10), Ecosprin 150 and Nitrocontin 2.6 -- all once a day. I'm 64 now and the only changes to my medication since then is a second Stamlo 10, one Fruselac (to reduce feet swelling due to Atenelol) and one Minipress XL5. I was told that Nitrocontin might bring on headaches and to ignore it for at least a month. I followed the instruction and my headache vanished in less than a month; that was about 16 years ago.

I suffered from COPD since long.A doctor could visually assess LVEF 40%. I doubted it.On cross checking LVEF was found 60% another doctor could feel my neck pulse and said that one of my arteries was 95% blocked.I took them as feeling my purse before my pulse. However I am on Nitrocontin 2.6 2 tabs a day, Nebi 5mg 1 tab a day,Fruselac 1 tab a day, telsar 10 mg..I am dragging my days. How do I check I am improving or deteriorating.

since u feel that doctors only feel purse and not pulse. the best advise is to not go to a doctor. doctors are really bastards, they run only after money. so u may feel safe at home and die peacefully....

And angioplasty was done. he is taking the same medicines as he was last two years such as plavix 75 mg twice 1-0-1, ecospirin 150, 0-1-, Telma am 1-0-0, rosuvasF 0-0-1, .. Except that This time nitrocontin has been added 1-1-0, coq39 1-0-0. Last time he was active within few days. This time he feels inactive and gets tired fast. Also he has developed mouth ulcers. It is the best vasodilator. It is true that one will have pulsating headache. The best way is to adapt ourselfs. Low dosage is to be taken once preferably at night. Once tolerance is achieved take both in the morning and night. Then increase the dose. Say quarter of the tab, then half and then the full. finally bi daily. This how I managed the intake of the tab. Initially when headache came I took half a tab of paracetamol. I underwent CABG in 1998. I am on nicorandil and nitrocontin and ranozex.
