New Color For 30 Mg. Roxi Pill

Updated

When I went to the Dr's today, I was told by the receptionist that the 30 mg Roxicodone that I have been prescribed (for a couple of years) has become very popular on the streets, and known by it's blue color so well that the pill is going to be reformulated and changed in color to white in the hope that it will not be as attractive to addicts. Does anyone know whether or not the 30 mg pill will actually be reformulated or will the color just be changed? I have been so sensitive in the past to certain generics not being the same as the brand, and now I'm worried about the brand having some new formulation that I would react to negatively. I would appreciate any clarification about this issue.

Well since you do not state the manufacturer, there is no way I can find out such information for you. The colors do not mean anything.

I dare say, though, that changing the color is not going to change its street popularity. It is not the color that attracts people to this medication.

It is more likely that the company just decided to change the color of the medication, because it is cheaper or easier to manufacture without the coloring agents.

Almost all generics differ from the name brand, by law they may differ in the active ingredient by as much as plus or minus 20%, in addition they do not have to use the exact same active ingredient, they only have to prove to the FDA that the one(s) they are using are 'bio-equivelent' and work in the body in the same way the name brand did. On top of all this, NONE of the inactive ingredients have to be the same at all.

Your pharmacy should have a complete ingredients list, so they can check for you to see what all might have been changed, if anything, and advise you accordingly.

I have had the same problem getting the blue ones, I believe were made by Mallenkot, or Amide. Now they only have the white ones, which I think are also made by Amide, but are supposedly harder to crush for drug users.

I have been getting these by prescription for about 8 months now, and last month it was nearly impossible to get my script filled. No pharmacies are carrying them any more. What is someone who is in legitimate pain supposed to do now? When I called the pharmacy, they don't want to even tell me over the phone whether they carry them or not, so I waste my $4 a gallon gas to go there, only to find out they don't have them. I had to drive nearly 30 miles last month to finally find a pharmacy that carried them! I am worried this month I will be out of luck. The white ones, I believe are manufactured by Amide, and are not nearly as helpful as the blue ones made by Mallenkodt. Anyone have any suggestions of how to get my regular prescription filled of the Mallenkodt ones, if the pharmacies are refusing to carry them? I understand there have been alot of recent pharmacy robberies where this drug is the intended target, but some of us really need this just to live a half way normal life in pain. I am worried the day will come soon, where I won't be able to get my medication and I will be suffering.

Don, I went through the same thing when we moved to Maryland this year. Very few pharmacies carry narcotics of any type.

You might want to ask/call around and see if there is a pharmacy in your area that specializes in Pain Management drugs.

I just stopped taking them, other than a few miserable days, I realized they weren't helping my pain anyway.

I take oxycodone, 80mg, 2xday, but they come in 10, 20 40 ,80 and the 160mg. of oxycodone the generic, but you will probally receive the oxycotin in those mgs. as oxycotin the preferred brand, more money4444 I was paying 4.00 , now I'am paying 50.00 for the same prescription. They also have another oxycodone as oxyfast, a 20mg. liquid, I can get for 4.00, I 'amm asking my doc this week for it . Good luck

Theresa, they are changing the oxycodone to oxycotin, for the $$$$$ so they can charge you prefered brand price, you might have to pay like me or suffer , I was paying 4.00 for generic 40 or now 80 mg. of oxycodone, now the Pharms are telling me that they are not available no more as a generic, But I can get the 80mg. of oxycotin, which is susposed to be the same thing , I dissagree, but I been on this regiment for three years. Also try oxyfast a 20mg. liquid you can take 4xa day, Its available for still only 4.00 if you can get it Peace and good luck and I hope this info may help you somewhat! Good luck and I hope you feel better.

I agree with Ben. You are all addicts, I have a son that is an addict and assure you livig with an addict is far more painful than some joint pain.
I also live with my wife that has had 10 hip operations since the age of 1. At 52 she has had 1 total hip replacements, and 2 revisions. She lived with the pain and took other medications, non narcotic to ease the pain, and lives a full life.
For your information this drug was developed to replace Heroin which was legal years ago. This drug was supposed to be for terminally ill cancer patients to ease the pain through their last days.
People that use it for pain absolutely become addicts like it or not. Prolonged use prevents your body from producing chemicals in your brain which are natiural pain killers like dopamine. Also many other chemicals like serotonin stop being produced and thats why many are so depressed.
Stop fooling your self and calling people names, this is a bad drug that does far more harm than does good. It is synthetic heroin and heroin in its purest form, and just as progressive in terms of increasing the dosage.
Smarten up

Not everyone here is an addict. But when you are so concerned with the color of your pill, and the maker, you are an addict. by FEDERAL law, every generic medication has to be exactly like the brand name when it comes to active ingrediant, now inactive ingrediants differ like color shape texture, etc. Anyone taking more than 30mg of oxycodone and is not dying of cancer, is probably an addict. There is no difference between blue and white roxicodone, I have been taking the same dose for many years, with several knee surgeries, initial injury toes were pointing at my rear, tore all 4 ligaments, and after several reconstructive surgeries, I make sue with my origional prescription, no increases, and I only take it when I need it, sometimes 1/2 a pill. they become less effective if you take more, BUT TAKING FOR A BUZZ, you people are morons and make it difficult for legitimate patients and you create a TABOO in the general publics eye, which most of the public is under-educated and have no idea what they are talking about, they hear it from someones mouth and assume it is golden. Roxicodone was not to replace heroin, moron, but both drugs are a derivitive of the poppy and was created for pain suffering, asprin was invented in 1937 and abolished marijuana and also made narcotic medicine prescription only. I hope you addicts get busted, so the legitimate people who have surgeries and suffer from horrible injuries and diseases can live in peace without all the stereotypes placed by ignorant society. peace

I DO NOT KNOW WHERE YOU GET OFF CALLING PEOPLE ADDICTS WHEN YOU DONT KNOW THE SEVERITY OF THERE PROBLEM, (MATHEW J). I HAVE SEVERE BACK PROBLEMS AND I TAKE MEDICATIONS FOR IT. NOT AS HIGH AS THAT BUT I TAKE PAIN MEDS. PAIN LEVELS ARE BASSED ON EACH PERSON.SOME PEOPLE CAN TAKE PAIN BETTER THAN OTHERS. NOT ALL GENERIC DRUGS WORK THE SAME AS THE BRAND DRUGS. DO SOME HOMEWORK AND YOU WILL SEE. THE ACTIVE INGREDIENTS IN THE GENERICS CAN BE 20% HIGHER OR LOWER THAN THE BRAND DRUGS AND THE INACTIVE INGREDIENTS CAN BE COMPLETLY DIFFERENT. ALL THEY HAVE TO PROVE TO THE FDA IS THAT THE DRUGS MAY WORK IN THE SAME WAY AS THE BRAND, BUT SOMETIMES THOSE ACTIVE OR INACTIVE INGREDIENTS MAY NOT WORK ON SOME PEOPLE. THAT IS WHY THEY MAKE BOTH BRAND AND GENERIC. UNFORTANTLY FOR SOME PEOPLE THEY ARE FORCED TO BUY BRAND NAME AND SPEND THAT EXTRA MONEY TO GET THEM. I DO AGREE WITH YOU ABOUT THE COLOR THING. COLOR DOES NOT MATTER. IF YOU ARE WORRIED ABOUT COLOR IT WOULD SEEM YOU ARE A STREET PHARMACIST OR YOUR TRYING TO GET THEM FROM THE STREET. SEEK HELP BECAUSE THESE DRUGS ARE VERY DANGEROUS, AND YOU MAKE IT HARDER FOR THOSE THAT NEED THE TO CONTROL THERE PAIN GET THE MEDS THEY NEED. IT IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO STOP.

MATTHEW --- are you a pain sufferer b/c if you relied on pain medication to get through the regular tasks of getting dressed, feeding your children, doing your job, and grocery shopping then you'd not have said something so innacurate....
You may not feel the difference --- but maybe it's because your pain is taken care of by less of the medication than you are prescribed.... Have you ever considered tehre are people whose pain isn't evenmaneagable with Oxy's and Roxi's and yes, they feel the difference b/c there is a difference...
My doctor explained to me that while they have to have the same ingredient, the inactive's could be different - the coating could be different, and therefore how it dissolves and reacts in your body will be different....
How in the world do you think compaines could make the same EXACT pill for cheaper - that's ludicrous - you ever used cheap toilet paper? How was it for you?

If you break it down - try taking a hydrocodone that isn't watson or doesn't have V on it ---- it is awful... if you feel relief at all it won't last long - if that's all my pharmacy has, I always go to new pharmacy....

Don't wasteyour money and go therough the pain but I happen to theink the white roxi's work by far the best.. whereas I used to have to take a whole one, I can sometimes get away with only have for the same time....

Good luck and ignore know it alls who think they have the right to judge. I can't imagine where you get off.

I won't call everyone here addicts because I used to and then one day I woke up and couldn't walk... the joint pain was so bad that my roommate [not a good friend or boyfriend] had to carry me around or put me on a sheet and drag me through the apartment... it was my ankles, knees, hips and even my back. When it flares, that is exactly what its like.. I needed help getting on to the toilet...and I had nobody but him in my life, so talk about embarassing.

Don't judge others. I'm sure some are addicts, but there are many that are not.

As for all the complaints about this not being as strong as "that"........ come on. YES, the manufacturers can have a bad batch that is too weak or too strong, but the active ingredients don't change... it's psychological if you think one pharma company is making them stronger than others.

first, to call everyone an addict is ridiculous. You know nothing about these people's situations and I would bet some are in severe pain. CAN they be dangerous? of course yes. can just about anything be dangerous if you take to much, yes. There ARE differences, I KNOW. the M/30 are made by Malinkrodt and are the best I've found. The A/215 come in second and still seem to work on the pain I have after being in a severe car accident that was not my fault. The V's do not seem to give as much relief and I try to find a pharmacy that has the M/30 or A/215's if possible. These are the only thing that has brought me relief as my stomach does not agree with acetometaphin.

Would all of you that are REAL addicts out there please tell MY pain it's NOT real. I'm really a closet addict but don't want my cover blown? Give me a f---ing break, I AM in REAL pain. As for the real drug addicts, I don't need a 101 course. My daughter is addicted to anything she can shoot into her veins. She has lost her kids, her housing, stolen from me again and again and again, she has OD'd twice but SHE knows how much her body can handle. She has been in jail three times, rehab 4 times and should I keep going on? My pain is REAL and I need someone or something that will make it stop because maybe, just maybe we'll be fighting for that place in the ground.
