Need Suboxone Dr For Pain Mgmt Near Tulsa Oklahoma

Updated

i was blessed to find the st anthony's START program in okc 3 yrs ago & it literally changed my life; i've done a 180 degree turn in my life in just about every way. i went into rehab needing desperately to get off oxycontin, which i'd been on along with most other Rx pain medications since a neck injury that temporarily put me in a wheel chair in '05. i had come to believe all the oxy in the world would not allow me to function normally with any tolerable level of pain. i didn't know a thing about suboxone until that time, upon going into the START program where i found the most incredible physician, dr charles shaw. with his referral i was able to get into an okc pain mgmt office where i've been a patient since feb, '12, soon to be 3 yrs. however, thanks to the positive changes in my life that suboxone treatment has allowed me i have regained the trust of my 2 grown sons & their families... a little at a time... and am now #1 on a list to get into an apartment closer to them in NE oklahoma, hence, needing desperately to find a suboxone doctor in or near TULSA, OK. and the additional problem i have is due to the level of pain i deal with & am expected to continue dealing with i am not expected to wean off of suboxone. so i need to find a suboxone dr who will accept me as a lifelong patient who is expected to remain on suboxone for pain management. i am also on medicare (primary) and medicaid (secondary) so hey, there's a guaranteed check, right? lol (might not be 100% of the charges, but it's something!) personal info: i am a 54 yr old grandma who has had NOT A HINT of a relapse in these 3 yrs (!!!! YAY AGAIN!) having been maintained on 1, 8 mg strip of suboxone daily along with 100 mg lyrica 4 daily (fibromyalgia, lupus, possibly sjogrens). other meds 1) prozac, 2) doxepin, 3) robaxin, & 4) nexium. these meds, except with the increase of 1 additional lyrica a few months ago, are exactly what i left rehab on dec 19, 2011. if it ain't broke..... !!!! :-) i am expecting to move shortly after the 1st of the year... no later than february & if unable to find a dr in the tulsa area quickly will have an extremely hard time making the 3 hr each way trip to & from okc in the meantime. HELP PLEASE!!! (and thank you!)

Since suboxone is used to treat opiate addiction, finding a pain management dr or clinic that will treat you for pain will be next to impossible if not impossible. You need to talk to your dr where you're at now and ask him to refer you to someone. Not all drs can write rxs for suboxone because it is to treat opiate addiction. You may have to continue on a maintance program instead of pain management.

saw my suboxone dr yesterday & SURPRISE! a new medication has just been approved by the FDA for patients who need maintenance of opiate addiction called "Buvavail." it's basically the same formula as suboxone, has the same 2 ingredients in it but it's much more easily absorbed in the jaw (sorta like chewing tobacco i'm guessing? lol) but since it IS more easily absorbed someone on the 8 mg strip of suboxone will instead be on 4.2 mg/0.7 mg of the Bunavail... something i was told you put in your jaw for just a few minutes then remove. it can also be prescribed by basically ANY physician who is allowed to prescribe narcotic medications so i might not have to search for the elusive 'Suboxone' doctor!!! (or be stuck on a waiting list since a lot of, if not all suboxone doctors are limited as to how many Suboxone prescriptions they can write). this was AWESOME news! also, i just want to add that, believe it or not, i have been on suboxone, prescribed for me for 'chronic pain' for almost 3 yrs, like i wrote before. and yes, my insurance has paid all but a very small co-pay as such. this is not the norm, i know, but maybe all those prayers i had over the years that never seemed to be answered finally WERE! like i said... it's been nothing short of miraculous for me, & i am thankful for it every day of my life. hope this info helps someone somewhere down the road....

Bunavail really didn't work for me. My insurance covered it, but it was so ineffective that I pay out of pocket for Suboxone.

I see a place that's supposed to have the #1 pain drs in Oklahoma called Advanced Pain Specialist of Tulsa, located on 91st & Mingo. Their # is 918-879-1700 & they accept my Medicare w/ Medicaid as secondary ins. Believe u will need a referral though.

For help with spinal pain I strongly suggest "Motivational Doc" on YouTube who offers short clips on simple exercises, posture and other advice. He's really good and has helped me a lot.
