I Live in Pittsburgh pa ..My little brother n two other girls who were all 18 @ the time were under age drinking n were later found with sheets over them, all 3 were beat with a hammer and a 10lb dumbell..I suffer from PTSD,ANXIETY, AND PANIC ATTACKS, AND ALSO FLASH BACKS..I get a feeling like i can't breath, my chest tightens up..I lately have isolated myself from society, large crowds can also trigger a panic attack..I'd appreciate any help u can give me..

I'm an Iraqi vet and suffer from extreme anxiety and PTSD. I just moved here and need a new doc that will renew my script I got before moving. I need my xanax script refilled asap! Can some one please recommend a good doc that will help me. I have all my med documentation in case! PLEASE HELP ME!

I live in edgewood in harford County Maryland and these doctors that I have seen so far are so uptight about giving xanax even though I was already on to milligrams 3 times a day from a doctor in Bel Air and now he's not prescribing it. So does anybody know anywhere in Harford County or more County Baltimore City or even Cecil County that will prescribe xanax? I have bad panic attacks and terrible anxiety. I had a near death experience which basically caused all this and I need help because these 5 klonopins aren't working. Thank you.

Angel, I know it's been a long time, but if you haven't found anyone yet I recommend Dr. Gomez with Panacea Alliance. She has no problem prescribing xanax. She has me on 2mg xanax twice a day for PTSD, GAD and Panic Disorder, and we are discussing going up to 3 times a day when I see her next month. Her location is off 95 South near St. Augustine Beach. 40 min drive for me from Orange Park. Best of luck!

I have the same issue, my doctor wants me to get off of it, I haven't been on it that long though, just about a year.. he also has me on a low dose (1mg a day- and that even took time to work up to that!) I have a naturally high tolerance to all meds- so I need a higher dosage, but he won't give it to me. I've even had my father come in and talk to the dr and let him know that I'm not all f***ed up from them, and they have seen a significant change with me for the better.. The xanax helps more than anything.. I've tried many "non-narcotic" anti-anxiety meds and a LOT made my anxiety WAY worse! I need a doctor who will listen to me, because I know my body. I know how I feel, and I know what I need and don't need.. it really sucks- I've been having to resort to buying them from someone so that I can take like 2.5mg a day. have you found any good doctors in the Philly area that aren't ridiculously afraid to prescribe xanax? I live in willow grove and would love to find another doctor..

Manny, try Doctor Grossinger. His office is in Wilmington right near Limestone Rd. Let me know if you need additional details, but a quick search should pull up his info. Just make sure you send over your previous records, especially any MRIs or other scans showing the extent of your injuries/origin.

Dr. Nick,

"Benzo withdrawal is no big deal." Maybe you're referring to your personal experience, but withdrawal from benzodiazepines can cause seizures. Of course, this does not occur every time, but it is still a risk most would prefer not to take. The best way to avoid severe side effects is to taper your dose down bit by bit until you're off the drug completely. This can be done in as little as a week. My doctor stopped prescribing xanax, but he gave me an instruction sheet and just enough xanax to taper off safely. Sure, you're still going to deal with discomfort and milder issues such as insomnia, but if you don't have any other option, this is the best way. Going cold turkey can be risky.

Bad place to do this on the web, otherwise everybody's going to be in there in an office and eventually s***s going to get hot and he/she's only either gonna get shut down or cut everybody off.

This is your personal experience. Mine in the opposite. I'm bipolar with severe anxiety. Untreated, my anxiety attacks can roll anywhere from 30 minutes to 5 hours. It's one of the worst things I've experienced and for a while they were happening 2-3 times a week. At the time I was living in Lawrence, KS, had an incredibly compassionate doctor who prescribed Lamotrigine for the bipolar (the first thing that ever worked to control the mood swings...ever.) and Xanax for the anxiety. He educated me on both, explained the dangers of addiction and how to avoid dependency (not taking it at regular intervals every day, since this builds up the tolerance in our bodies, requiring more and more -- thus dependence). It changed my life for the better. When I felt that "aura" of anxiety coming on, I would take a single .5 mg tablet. On very few occasions I would have a serious anxiety attack and wasn't near my meds to counteract it and took 1 mg (2 tablets) at once. I think that happened maybe three times the whole time I was on it. Within 10 minutes I was normal again. I only took it when it was needed and was on it for 5 years without any addiction or dependency -- and zero withdrawals when I stopped taking it. It's how you treat the drug, how you respect it, that makes the difference. Just because the bottle says every 4 hours, doesn't mean you pop one every four hours. That's just how long you wait in between IF the anxiety has not completely subsided or the situation is more stressful that day. You always take this as needed ONLY.

Kerry, Karen here, also having problems with severe anxiety, in Dallas Texas. Have a great psychiatrist, but the meds for anxiety aren't cutting it! Go to ABC Behavioral Health, an indigent program, but recently got my ssi with medicare and supplemental, and no one wants to see me. I would have been better off staying indigent. I feel so stuck, need help in Dallas Texas!!!!

Well someone out there is prescribing it! I can find it myself easier than I can in any expensive drs. office and believe it, I've been to many trying to get my prescription back after my shrink retired and no one will prescribe it. It makes me sick that all these people can get it who don't need it and I have to buy it illegally from them because no Dr. Will help me. I have severe panic attacks and social anxiety and have been prescribed everything from trazadone to buspar to seroqil to hydroxozine... none of which work. So I have to purchase Xanax via other means to be able to function and it makes me sick! I had one Dr retire and once he left the mental health facility they went "benzo free" about a year later. The next Dr. Up and left and moved back to her home after a failed marriage. So here I sit using all my money paying 5$ ea for 1mlg and 10-12 for 2 mlg. This is just terrible.

I just moved to AUSTIN TX area & need a GP that can treat all of my multitude of health problems so I can function and get a job to provide for my child.
I have panic disorder & GAD, Systemic Lupus, multiple stress related gastro issues from ulcers to hernia & IBS, severe anemia from bleeding and chronic illness from out of control hormonal peri menopausal constant bleeding (without cessation now over 6 months & the hormone pills have done nothing to stem the bleeding), & terrible pain with it from fibroids, one in my endometrium that my uterus seems to be trying to expell. It's like i am in labor every day. I have degenerative disc disease and 2 ruptured lower lumbar discs, and lost both ACLs in my knees and have torn meniscus in the left one. The added inflammation from the lower abdominal swelling aggravates the back pain & spasms. I recently developed restless legs at night I guess just to give the insomnia something to do besides worry over how I'm going to avoid homelessness as I have not worked outside the home on a regular basis for several years due to the rapid decline in my health and the inability to get well and my husband supported us financially.
I am a very well educated professional and must find employment & income in a few weeks or we will be on the street which is crazy unacceptable because I'm a 48 yr old professional with years of experience and I'm now a single mom of a teenager. We recently moved to Texas to escape years of Domestic Violence, that in large part, has contributed to this deterioration of my health. I have no history of abuse of substances. I have a little less than three weeks to become employed but without meds I cannot function much less successfully apply for a job and work one in this shape without a stop-gap. My depression is getting worse and anxiety is through the roof along with the weakness, numbing, nausea and severe 7-9 pain level, etc.

For 13 years I have taken Xanax prescribed either by my GP or psych depending on which one I could afford to see or which one schedules allowed. They knew each other and kept up to prevent writing over each other. I have been on an antidepressant of one kind or other forever - Wellbutrin for the last 8 years, various pain medications on & off since around 2007 & flexaril for about 4 years now. I am too broke and do not have enough time to go through multiple referrals and tests that will cost a mint. I must get relief ASAP if I am going to be able to prevent homelessness.
I am in desperate need of a GP in the Austin TX area that can treat all of these issues and can & will write my regular meds or any other to get me up & functioning. Most GPs won't write These meds I take - Xanax, flexaril & pain meds. They usually will write antidepressants but that alone won't do it now.
Does anyone have advice for me? I desperately need a well rounded old-school GP or family doctor that I can get in to see ASAP & maybe with a consult w my docs back where I used to live will write my meds including the controlled substances.

Please anyone I need help. Any leads will be greatly appreciated.

Benzo withdrawal is no joke, but the worst bone crushing withdrawal is methadone. I'm talking puking every 5 minutes for a month, couldn't even suck on a ice cube without puking.

I am in NE Philly, new to the area and do not have a regular physician. I need to find a physician anyway, but have an international flight next month and need to find a doctor who will prescribe either Xanax or Ativan for the flight. Any sincere help is appreciated.
