Morphine Side Effects Pill Vs Iv

Started morphine pills for back pain 30 mg I took it at 9 p.m. It didn't kick in until 12:15...3 hours for reaction? As well, really strong as far as that feeling of "tightness" throughout neck arms etc. Instead of pain relief & anility to sleep, I feel the need to stay awake and monitor breathing. In the hospital this RX would work much faster and stiffness was less ability to slep was fine. Is it the form (pill v.s. IV)??? Thanks side effect feels worse than pain go figure any suggestions on pain med for pm that does not do this?

Morphine can cause joint pain and stiffness in some people that take it, so the form it's given in may not be relevant, you may have just hit the point where this side effect has kicked in for you.

The problem is that from what I've experienced, it doesn't go away, but usually gets worse, so it may not be the right medication for you to take.

You may need to switch to something such as Dilaudid or Oxycontin, depending on what your doctor recommends.

The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Thank you for the info I prefer dilodid but is it stronger than morphine? I did not know it came in pill form I think my PCP is apehensive to prescribe that she is leary of FDA how can I pose to her its a better choice?
