Methadone Shortage

As a chronic pain patient suffering from reflex sympathetic dystrophy I have been prescribed methadone as long acting pain control for ten years I am unable to find it anywhere social security unable to help medicare no answers and pharmacies do not have it where do I turn now I am already back in my wheelchair I cannot get past the pain let alone withdrawl where do i turn nowe

Dear Susan, I'm sorry 2 hear about your situation. I take it that the methadone works well with the pain 4 u. I use 2 b on methadone, so, I know it works well. Did u ask the pharmacy if they can order more or if they will b getting more in? Mane, u can get 2 the next town over 2 get it? If not, there r other pain meds they can give u 2 help. I understand your fear of withdrawals, I've been there and it's HORRIBLE! Hopefully, it will all work out 4 u. GOOD LUCk!

Have you been able to get it filled, yet?

If not, I'd suggest talking to your doctor about prescribing an alternative medication that you can take in the meantime.

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
