Methadone Detox

I have been on Methadone for 1.5 years. I went on because I was pregnant and addicted to Oxycontin. My dose was 90 ml liquid Methadone diluted in O.J. I missed 3 days on accident, and got cut off (weekend, no dr). On Monday they gave me 30 ml again, then up to 40 ml, and held out at 50 ml for 3 months before allowing them to raise my dose. They pushed raising dose on my every time I saw my Councillor or Dr. I live in Canada and don't have to pay for Methadone. But when I missed 3 days, I tried to keep clean, I don't want that life again. I'm a mother now. When I was pregnant I puked my drink every time so my daughter was not born addicted,Thank God! Anyway, on day 3 I had to use, I felt 100x's worse sick/dying/pain/brain crazies etc... then I felt dope sick off any heroin or opiate pill EVER! I was amazed they would drop me to 0 ml if I missed 3 days, and couldn't see Dr on the weekend. It was 5 days no dose! They know I had a new born baby and am legally single so, but they have to drop us after three days legally due to some B.S. I am thankful I got off the pills and crack and heroin. Methadone saved me when I was pregnant, because any full blown junkie knows a pregnancy wont stop us from getting high, or keeping from dope sickness. I honestly can say I am on Methadone because I am addicted to it, not to keep off opiates! i wanted to decrease for months and they wont till I hit level 6 ( 6 carries out of 7, the highest level) I am at level 6 now and they reluctantly dropped me 5 ml. I have also been concerned I am allergic to the drink, because I never feel good. I am physically ill often on day 7 when I have to drink my dose in clinic. On day 6 I take full dose so my urine is right, otherwise I sip throughout the day, works better and don't need full dose...so day 7 and 1 I'm very ill, but I'm saving juice for when i quit in the spring (hubby come home, can take care of child while I am in hell). I've researched Suboxon and no thanks. Considered morphine replacement, but no Dr will write me an RX. I just want my life back, although it is 100x's better then any day I was a junkie. I feel like I am toxic, like my body is rampant with poison, Methadone. My teeth have rotted, I get wicked rashes all over, but now I'm on pill called Metox, apparently its the Methadone pill and no side effects, rash cleared. I have to pay for this, I went back to juice one week because no money,a nd was immediately feeling sick and rash returned. Also no period??? This scares me. Now I'm fearful the Methadone will make me sterile!! I've always been on time, but I had a baby 15 months ago..strange nonetheless. So Methadone is my replacement drug for opiates, just much much stronger and I guess we will all know long term damage it causes in about 20 yrs. Medical staff seem to be 2 sided about Methadone, either swearing against it, or swearing by it. Are there any Canadian Dr's or treatment centers that do Methadone tapering or medical detox for Methadone addicts?? Any other people with similar side effects? Or who also experimented with replacement options or dosing?

its sarah, i posted this, i am currently prescribed 65 mls liquid methadone or metox pills...anyone familiar with metox? cant find anything about it..ty .o yes, and when i have tried alleviateing tooth decay/infection/rotting pain with morphine or hydromorph i take like 800mls (4rockets) and it doesnt get me high, nor does it touch my pain....hydie i take 3 red 30's b4 i cut myself off becaus ei know even if i cant feel it for pain relief or feel high, i know my body still is processing this drugs....what can i use for effective pain relief?

I am not sure if it is available in Canada, though it couldn't hurt to check with your doctor, but Fentanyl is a much stronger pain medication. In the U.S. the name brand for it as a pain patch, that you wear for 3 days is Duragesic and a lollipop form is Actiq.

It is over 80 times stronger than Morphine.

I can't find any information on anything under the brand name Metox, does it also contain Methadone?
