Hi. My doctor put me on suboxone a few weeks ago in May 20th it will make a month of being on it. I have chronic back pain that I've had since I had my son a year ago. I still believe it's from the spinal tap I got in the hospital before having my c-section with my baby boy. Who long did it take for you to start noticing the pain going away/or getting better. Mine doesn't happen or hurt all day long it's mostly at night & I don't work so it's not from heavy lifting or a lot of walking or standing up. Thank you!

You are wrong about buprenorphine. It is a highly potent opioid. Which was used as pain relief for severe pain long before they discovered it worked well as a maintenance therapy drug for opiat addicts.
In my country buprenorphine is used alongside methadone as pain management for patients as myself who suffer from chronic pain, and have had been prescribed high doses of all sorts of opiates for years. It is a very good alternative for us. This because buprenorfin does not increase your tolerance level. One can stay on the same dose for years and years. It has a long sequence and one does not need so many intakes per day

When my Dr put me on sub I was put on a program where my meds were free. Check if your Dr is involved with this program.

All my sub docs said that 4 is the limit bc the brain doesn't compute anything higher than 32mgs a day. Hopefully this helps I also am not an expert but hope I helped even just a little

I am on Suboxone pills.....24mg a day for severe pain.....IT IS AMAZING for my pain management !!! Suboxone was FIRST CREATED for pain management......PEOPLE DONT KnOW what they are talking about !!! I was on Lortab 10mg x5 a day....and also Methodone 10mg x4 a day ..... I hurt all over still !!! So I tried the Suboxone pills...8mg x 3 a day....for the last 3 years....have NEVER felt better !!!! I take Suboxone 8mg x 3 a day , Lyrica 75mg x3 a day , and 800mg Ibuprofen x 3 a day !!! I have been having the least pain ever since !!! A regular Dr can prescribe Suboxone as long as he writes for pain on the script !!!! IT WORKS WONDERS ..... I AM SO MUCH MORE HAPPIER. It does take about a month to get adjusted to everything !!!!! You WONT regret it !!!!

Please, look into Kratom. It's an herb, it's legal in the US, much less expensive than anything big pharma can roll out...you can get off those subs! People are doing it every day and finding a better version of themselves. Have faith...I thought Sub/Bupe was the heaven send. NOT SO. Go to I love kratom or just research it. Best wishes to you.

I regretted it! It was prescribed to me for severe chronic pain, after multiple surgeries.
Getting off of those was one of the hardest thongs I ever did-MUCH worse than going off Norco.
When you get tired enough of the hoops you must jump through just to have some pain relief, KRATOM. Yes, it's THAT effective.
(And my tolerance is very high, can take quite a bit of med. and.function fine...)

Hi, the MAXIMUM DAILY dose is 32 mgs per day. That dosage is 100% correct. I would not lie about something as serious as this.

all I'm going to say is I have a doctor that put me on suboxone approximately two years ago and I have severe spine pain. I get 8 milligrams twice a day and honestly don't think it's working at all! I think the only reason he prescribed it is to cover his ass and his license, because maybe he had drug addicts in the past that were you know just trying to get opiates any way they can, and yes they should probably be on suboxin and they should be in a rehab treatment typesetting. But for me honestly it seems to work less and less. I have been on one form or another of painkillers for the past 17 years. I am a 52 year old woman. and apparently I fall right within the guidelines of everybody that's abusing opiates. I personally never have. I have never even come close to a game in the 17 years I've been on the medications. I don't know if it's just that my system got used to it or if the new locks and is stopping it from covering as much as it should. all I know is tired and I am always in pain and if I try to bring this up with my doctor I am sure he's going to think Oh my god she wants it she wants to do drugs blah blah blahI live in Salt Lake City Utah, I have been here for 7 years and I have never been treated appropriately for my pain. I am sure that I am just used to it because that happens they call it dependency. but I hate it, I am NOT a drug addict and I never was a drug addict, I don't even drink alcohol and I've never had marijuana, I just want to know am I the only person out there with chronic pain that is being treated with suboxone as if I'm some opiate addict on the side. I think it's very unfair that I can't get treated for my pain and I am so depressed earlier I just wanted to drive my car off a bridge. my family and all my friends say Dave, you need to get your pain taken care of tell your doctor the suboxone is not working and that you need something stronger, the reason they say this is because I spent time with my daughter and she had to hear me cry every morning when I woke up. I am beyond frustrated and overwhelmed and disappointed with the medical society. I am sorry that there are so many people out there that are in such psychological or emotional pain that they have turned to opiates and other drugs to escape or just feel better for the moment, I think those people are sick as in really ill and they are not being treated for their problem either.

I guess rehabs put them on suboxone to wean them off of whatever opiates they were on and then they try to wean them off the suboxone. & I have read on many forums that these people only take their suboxone when they cannot get the other opiates. I feel really sorry for them because I know they're in pain also it's just a different type of pain. Is there anybody out there that lives in Salt Lake City Utah or surrounding cities that can recommend a real pain management doctor that will put me on something that actually works for me and not against me. I would love to walk into my appointment tomorrow with my doctor and actually tell him f*** off quit treating me like a drug addict and take care of my physical pain because I can't do this anymore. Of course I would never tell him that and I would never use that language, except in my head a million times a day.I know that the vicodin or loratab that's what they call them here, no longer work for me because I was on them for 10 years so pretty much there nothing. And then they tried putting me on 10 milligram percocets twice a day for another gosh for years, and those don't work either. So I'm pretty sure my body just got used to them, and my doctor said that's impossible that your body cannot get tolerant against any opiate and that's just people wanting more drugs so they can feel high. Originally the Vicodin worked great and then it didn't and then the percocet worked great and then it didn't.

And my doctor has me on the suboxone which he thinks is fabulous because it has a half-life of 37 hours, which would be fabulous except its only taking care of about 25 to 30 percent of my pain and I really have no idea how to relate this to my doctor without him treating me any poorly than he already does. He does a U/A every damn month and it always comes back fine he used to give me refills by one refill and now I have to see him every month. I don't understand why, because I haven't done anything wrong according to our 5 page contract that I had to sign. Can anybody tell me how to talk to a medical doctor in medical terms so he understands that this pill does not work. Its not even a matter of being tolerant to it it just doesn't do anything. I'm just tired of being lumped in with everybody else. There new thing now is that women 45 to 65 are abusing their drugs, I think that is total BS. The other thing they tell me in Utah is that 8 out of 10 ER visits are due to people overdosing on their drugs.well, I think they should suck it up because I've been on the damn things for 17 years and I've never had to go to an ER for anything close to abuse of my drugs, so why am I being treated like a opiate addict. Now don't get me wrong, like I said I feel really bad for people that have a drug addiction problem because I don't think there is any real help for them out there. I think all the rehab places and these pharmaceutical companies are literally screwing everybody over.

Hi there, I take 12 mg of suboxone for chronic pain (woman on bike versus speeding car) and ended up like so many else, with an opiate dependency, I'd like to get off everything, but since the pain is something that will be with me forever it's me and my subs. I tried methadone and it made me suicidal, Suboxone saved my life. Literally. I find it to be a very effective medication. You all take very good care of yourselves and honour your pain. It's real. So many people just don't get it unless.

You need to trust in our Savior the LORD JESUS CHRIST that what you are reading is the honest truth. Try buprenorphine/subutex for moderate to severe chronic pain. KICK your doctor to the curb and find one who knows the proven benefits provided by this "miracle drug for true chronic pain relief".

Dopamine has very little to do with the way opiates work in the brain. Norepinephrine is the neurotransmitter that primarily relates to pain control. The blocking action of naloxone and bup works by binding the opiate receptor neurons from taking in the NT's that are released because of the intake of an opiate. These are opiate antagonist. Opiates like oxy, hydro, morphine etc are agonist. The opiate receptors, when not blocked, take in norepinephrine. These opaites have a very short half life. Suboxone, the bup can actively bind the receptors for up to 72 hours. The pure antagonist naltrexone/naloxone/narcan only binds 12 to 24 hours. The bup in suboxone will work as a pain reliever and by itself is one of the most potent opiates. Naloxone works against the brains reward center and is counter product for pain relief. Suboxone was not intended to be a pain medication or an addiction maintenance medication. It was intended to for supervised medical detoxification purposes for severe opiate dependency and for those with high tolerance. Designed as a tapper medication only given for 5 to 10 days, starting 24 to 48 hours after last agonist dose. The amount of clients requiring treatment for suboxone dependency and addiction has tripled every year for the past 4 years. In NYS there is now more people in treatment for suboxone abuse and dependency than coke/crack and methamphetamine combined. Suboxone only shows improved outcomes up until the 6 month point following discharge. After one year clients who were still being prescribed suboxone when they completed treatment and continued taking suboxone for maintenance purposes are nearly twice as likely to relapse and return to treatment. And now what we are seeing is clients after that 1 year mark returning to treatment to get off suboxone.

My doctor put me on suboxone 2 Years ago. Although I have detailed x-rays showing discs completely missing in my spine and Vertebrae that are tilted, I think he put me on it because he thought I had a drug problem. Like most doctors in Salt Lake City that's their protocol. But I had a seizure after being on it And I noticed other changes. I lost 90 pounds in a year, not that I didn't need to lose them but I lost them because I have lost my appetite for all food. I also lost my libido And I became more emotional And My hair has turned white. I know that last one sounds crazy but It really turns white overnight. Also the Initial Pain relief that I got from this dress which was very minor. Decreased in its effectiveness. I went to my doctor last month and I told him about some of the strange things that happened since I have been on it And that I felt that this drug was not safe I felt that it was counterproductive of what it was supposed to be doing. Although I am NOT a chemist or a medical doctor not even an RN I do have an IQ of 143 and I did go to the site to look at the chemical compounds and the ingredients and Basically how they say the drug works. To me it seemed like a lot of the information was redundant and Filled in. Almost like a high school student who has a paper due and does not do the research. Those papers Will have numerous quotes from different sources And lots of flourished additives, not to mention the same sentence reworded to look like New Information. I appreciate the information that has been shared here And I would like to share what happened at my last appointment when I confronted my doctor with my findings and My Feelings about this medication. He looked at me and said well I am just going to take you off of opiates all together because that is what caused your seizure. Number one we cannot prove the suboxone caused the seizure, but I know the opiate involved may not have either. I have been on an opioid medication for 15 years. Before suboxone I have never had a seizure in my entire life. I am a 52 year old female. I take other medications for other things. I felt that the suboxone itself Was a problem And also interacting with the other medications I take. My doctor Just prescribed me The opiate in the medication without the naloxone.I was a little frustrated, because I felt I did not want any part of it. That was a week ago And I still do not have the medication because medicare has not covered it yet. It has gone to their case management department. I am NOT happy. I am stuck taking the suboxone Still.I looked my doctor up and found out that he is the highest prescriber of this medication in Salt Lake City. I also found information that he has made $37,000 prescribing this medication.

I do not know if he is just too busy or naive to read through the information or if he is more concerned with paying off loans from medical school then taking care of my well being. I do know one thing, this is a very dangerous drug And it does strange things. People are being lied to about the safe and effectiveness of using it. I also found out that my doctor is not considered a pain management doctor. He is a physical therapy rehab doctor. That is not the same thing. I need a doctor that understands how pain can ruin your life and is able to prescribe a pain medicine and know what the effects will be with the other medication their patient is on. I found it very interesting that when I first went to see him I was prescribed a hundred twenty Soma's a month and he said well Let's bring that down a little. I said ok. He took them down to 30 a month. Since the pain medicine he has me on does not do more than 25% of pain relief The somas to help. I asked him at the last appointment could we go 45 somas a month and end it there. He just ignored the question. He He said since my new prescription has not been cleared by Medicare yet, that I should either pay for it out of pocket And pick up a few at a time Or go back on suboxone. I am sorry does this doctor not understand pharmaceutical laws in the United States? You cannot pick up a few Pills of a narcotic pain medicine And then go back and get a few more when you have more money. Whatever you pick up initially and can afford is considered your prescription filled in full. The only exception I have ever seen is if your pharmacy Only has a little of the prescription, depending upon the medication, they will give you what they have and when the rest comes in they will give you the rest of the partial refill. I am now Trying to find a new doctor in the Salt Lake City area That actually has Experience in long term chronic pain management And is not making a profit off of a prescription he is writing. This is going to be overwhelming And Mary Don King, Because they are all doing what this doctor is doing. They believe that Utah has the highest opiate abuse in the country. They are Either frightened of losing their license or Have been burned by previous patients, I am not sure which one.

They feel that this medication Will protect them against some indemnity That could result from writing a different type of pain medicine. RidiculousAnd he said well Let's bring not down a little. I said okay. He took them down to 30 a month. Send the pain medicine he has me on does not do more than 25 percent of pain relief The somas do house. I asked At the last appointment Could we go 45 somas a month and and it there. He just ignored the question. He Said My new prescription has not been cleared by medicare yet, that I should be there paypal or it out of pocket And pick up a few at a time Or go back on the box on. I am sorry does this doctor not understand pharmaceutical laws in the united states? You cannot pick up of you Pills of a narcotic pain medicine And then go back and get a few more when you have more money. What ever you pick up a new shirley and can afford is considered your prescription filled in full. The only exception I have ever seen is if your pharmacy Only have a little off the prescription, depending upon the medication, they will give you what they have And when the rest something they will give you the rest of the parcel refill. I am now trying to find a new doctor in the salt lake city area Actually has Iran in long term chronic pain management And is not making a profit of a prescription he is writing. This is going to be overwhelming And very long, Because they are all doing what this doctor is doing. A believe that utah has the highest opiate abuse in the country. They are Either frightened of losing their life Or Have been burned my previous patience, I am not sure which 1. Baby feel that this medication Will protect them against some indemnity That could result from writing a different type of pain medicine. Ridiculous, I think this medication Is more insidious and dangerous than the oxycontin problem. It has already permeated our TV culture. I just watched a new show Where The main character Abuses Opiates and has suboxone on hand for when he can't obtain his illegal opiates. What a world!
