Hunny,
Calm down! When I was 24 yrs old, I was living in my first nursing home. Wheelchair bound, other ppl wiping my ass and getting me dressed but still finding a way to abuse my opiates even tho they were handed to me everyday like a child. Idk why it's been so difficult for you to get on Suboxone. Where I live, and this is 100% true; I had to threaten to take my own life in order to get in to rehab and started on Suboxone. You sound a lot like me, in that ur desperate for help but nobody is listening. My "pain management" Dr, wanted me to wean down my dosage of Methadone (which I was on for pain and abusing) first, then start on Suboxone. I knew I wasn't that strong willed and I was in and out of the E.R. for 3wks before I said, "F*** It!", I'll just deal with the 3 day watch in order to get them to listen to me.....IT WORKED!

When the shrink came to see me the next day, I just told him the truth. That I said it in order to get in.(Just before I said that, I was told there were no open beds. Mysteriously... one just happened to open up!) Because I can't walk and I suffer from documented, long term, chronic, debilitating pain; the doctor's chose not to make me suffer thru severe withdrawal before I got my first dose of Subutex (that's what they started me on). I was there a total of 3 days (which included my E.R. stay). I know this all sounds like, "yeah...right"!; but I swear to God, on everything I love, that's how I did it! I was the first physically disabled person ever admitted to that specific rehab.(I even got my fiance to sleep over my last night there and yes, the dr's knew, aloud it and he wasn't there to sneak s*** in. But that's a whole other story). You sound like you could use a friend and/or some help.

{edited for privacy}. Seriously.... I've been everywhere you've been except for the H. I never let myself go there cuz I hated needles. I think my disabilities saved me in that respect.

Anyone else had this problem and what may be done for it?
I'm on 32mg a day for Chronic pain and it works, but I've a problem with itching and I get these little sores on mostly my arms. Maybe they appear on my arms mostly because I scratch them more. But my face itches, legs, arms and just all over. When I was down around 16 mg a day this didn't happen. I assume it's an allergic reaction of some sort. I'm scared to tell the doctor for fear of him taking me off it. This is the only drug that I've taken that will relive pain and not cause me to want to abuse it.

You may want to go to the Suboxone site and read up b4 replying and sounding dumb. I'm on subox for Chronic pain and the suggested dose is 4/8mg a day. It works and that all I can say about that. So your statement is FALSE.

For detox is one thing and Chronic pain another. I take it for pain and was on 3/8mg a day and have since started 4/8mg a day now. For detox, I would guess that up to 3/8mg a day would do it. I would go to the Suboxone web site to read what they recommend as I did. One thing is true there is terrible withdraw from it as any opiate when you stop taking it. I choose Sub's over anything else as I'm susceptible to abuse the medication and I don't feel any reason to do so with Subutex as it does not make me feel high.

The max dose for Subtex is 8mg four times a day. I take it for chronic pain and control of symptoms of severe Crohn's Disease, at 4mg three times a day I avoid the nausea by never taking it on an empty stomach. I have been on higher doses and doses four times a day which both resulted in bouts of nausea and vomiting. Everyone's system is different, you need to find a dose amount and schedule that works for you, any good doctor will help you do so. I found my perfect ammount over three years ago and some days take less or skip a dose because I feel it unnecessary as my pain level differs from day to day. I do not however, take more than prescribed in a single day. Subutex freed me from many years of debilitating pain and mind numbing effects of "traditional" opiate pain killers.

I started on pain meds nine years ago for degenerative disc disease and chronic back pain. I went from 500mg vicodin in the beginning and ended up on 40mg of methadone at the end. I could never satisfy the pain relief so I would run out early and life would be hell to say the least. I decided to try to live without the pain meds but knew i couldnt go it alone. That is when i discovered suboxone. For two years, i had relief from any and all pain and my life was finally normal again. The doctor i was seeing was busted for fraud and overprescribing and i was terrified. I began seeing a psychiatrist that wanted to wean me off within a month! (Because i couldnt find a doctor) . Once he took me from the 8mg strip to the 2mg strip, my pain returned with a vengeance! I am suffering from this because I still cannot find a dr. I can get a few here and there off the street but that is not helping because not only am i in pain but severe withdrawl. Anybody that thinks suboxone does not help with the pain has never taken it foe pain! Help!!

Anybodymethadone at the end

Dont preach herbal remedies to people because they can be just as dangerous if not more dangerous! The problem with oral remedies is you dont know how much you are actually getting. Plus subutex has does wonders for people in chronic pain! Also it doesn't take the pain away completely trust me but it definitely helps someone get through the day with out taking 300 mg of oxycodone on a daily basis! Addiction is different as well bec 1 is to many and 1000 is never enough which is the best way to describe what Happens . Pain is horrible to feel on a daily basis and yes the body does adapt to a certain degree. Subutex saved my life and I am able to function and have a normal life so take your herbal remedies some where else because that is the last thing I want especially when you probably are not an addict and dont understand addiction!

Subs dont help for pain. you can actually take too much like 24 or 32mgs and it can CAUSE you pain bc your way over the ceiling effect)which is almost like Overdosing). anyways it can cause pain. Dont believe me then check your paperwork from the pharmacy, it is one of the MAIN side effects of it. Some people say it gives them some pain relief, but I HIGHLY doubt it. Its just bc they have some kind of drug in their body other than nothing, so it may ease some pain, but too much will cause pain.I had a buddy taking 4 to 5, even 6 or 7--- 8mg strips in a day(he was only prescribed 16mgs) and he was having SEVERE bad back pains. He eventually got off the sub, does the same kind of work he was as before while on the 4-7 a day and he now has NO PAIN. so you tell me! He went to another dr for the pain and that DR told him the sub was what was causing it bc he was taking too much. he eventually got down to small pieces each day and then only a piece every few days until he got off of them altogether. But he swears by it now that they caused the pains that he was having and that his other DR was totally right! Good Luck!

Please be careful about listening to other peoples opinion...you are probably getting sick to your stomach because you are taking more than you need. Taking suboxon for pain is fine but I'm guessing you are probably not an opiate addict so you may want to try going a little longer between next dose. I serriously doubt the suboxon is causing you to get withdraws like the last person implied. If you were a long term H addict then perhaps. But suboxon is a strong drug and so if not use to it..even a few milagrams can be very intense. Try waiting til you feel you need more pain relief before taking next dose. Be safe! Peace!

Hun the itching is because your on too high a dose. Sometimes I'll take two at once (which my dr SAYS is no better than taking one 8mg film, but I beg to differ) when I'm having a particularly painful day. When I do that I seem to itch a lot more and rub my face a lot and even doze off (dnt change ur meds without talking to ur dr 1st!) Being HONEST with your Addiction Medicine doctor is the best thing to do. I've stayed honest with my doctor. It hasn't gotten me as much as lying would have, but I can honesty say I'm in a decent place with the suboxone. You never know what the doctor will do or say unless you ask first hun... If you don't ask, nothing will be done at all! Good Luck!

Before condemning doctors and usage of this medication you should understand the facts. Bupenorphrine is used as a pain management educationally we the rest of the world, quite commonly even for post operative pain. In the United states the introduction of ANOTHER opioid medication was an unprofitable redundancy, therefore it was marketed as an opioid dependency medicine first and pain medication second. Anyone who has familiarize themselves with this drug, outside the packaging literature would know this.

S uboxone has what is called a celeane effect because the drug has an opoide antagonist. 30 mlg of suboxone is the maximum dose because after that the naltrexone becomes stronger than the bufinorphin and then taking more becomes usless. The antagonist will start to clear the opiate from your blood stream. I suggest reading up on the effects os suboxone so you can better understand how it works.

I realize this is years later and more information has since come out but you are incredibly wrong. Suboxone is used for chronic pain and it does work because it IS an opiate. My father is a biochemist and they actually did an evaluation on suboxone for pain management before they even realized is potential for opiate withdrawal. Now it is widely used for opiate withdrawal but it is ALSO used to chronic pain because it has a ceiling effect. What eases pain one year will still ease it the next. You don't have to keep taking more and more like with Percocet or Oxys. I take suboxone for chronic pain and it's given me my life back.

Does it make sense to restrict doctors in the amount of patients they can have? Does anybody get turned away when trying to find a Sub Doctor? It makes no sense at all. Suboxone is a wonderful drug that can be used for pain relief without all the negative effects that comes with the traditional pain meds. It saved my life. I have chronic pain and was on hydrocodone for 8 years. Of course I became physically dependent- or addicted. I wasn't getting pain relief and took more and so the story goes. My mind became obsessed with the pills but I still had pain. Now I still have some pain but suboxone takes the edge off without any foggy headed high and without the obsession. I never run out and I never obsess. I wish more people that were ready to stop the cycle of addiction with pain pills knew about this and I really wish it was more accessible. Because it was a real problem trying to find a doctor that wasn't over the patient limit. But why have a patient limit in the first place? I tell you- I wish I could become a politician and change the laws. The only thing that makes complete sense is that it WORKS! IF more addicts got help that truly made them better well that would change the enormous amount of money being made off those pain pills. PLEASE if anybody out there is thinking about suboxone - DO IT- keep looking for a doctor. IT may cost some up front cash at first but hell it is sooooo worth it and it truly works. NO withdrawals no sickness and if you have pain it does help. You may not be at the right dose. I have had doctors that think they know everything but they don't. I have been on this for 3 years now so if anyone has any questions please feel free to write me back. I want to change the laws governing Suboxone and I know the world's percentage of addicts would go down tremendously!!!!
