Mandatory Detox

Some 30 years ago i got on methadone after seeing so many people i grew up with die from opiates or heroin.Today i am 57 years old and i am on 140mgs.After my younger brother die from heroin i resigned to the fact that i will probably be on methadone for the rest of my life and excepted it.Six months ago i got busted and found myself in drug court.The judge told me to get in touch with my clinic and come up with a detox plan.So were starting at 2mgs a month drop.I pray to God that i can do it and work at the same time.U ought to be in front of a judge after being on methadone for over 30 yrs and be told u have to get off of it.Methadone has allowed me to work and pay my bills for over 16 years.Now i am scared about the future,i worry that when my dose gets lower i wont be able to work.I really am lost,methadone has always been a big part of my life.Drug court has got screwed up that i would be to scared to get loaded.I feel like i future shock.

Sorry, what i was meaning to say is drug court,group,AA,conseling,UAs,Alcohol and Drug class,Victim impact panel and Community service has got me too screw up to even think to get loaded.I feel like i have future shock.The sad thing about all of is i know the minute i get out of drug court and probation i will be right back on it.God grant me the serenity to except the things i cannot change.The courage to change the things i can.And the wisdom to know the difference.

I hope you understand that I am not meaning any offense by saying this, but...

By saying you know you will be right back on it, you are already creating a self-defeating attitude. It's really the same attitude you have before, when you accepted that you'd be on it for the rest of your life. What you really need to do is gain some self-confidence that you can overcome the problem.

I know it isn't easy for anyone, regardless of what you are addicted to, but it can be done.

It may be a stretch to fit it in with everything else you have going on, but have you considered seeing a counselor, as well? Someone that can help you gain more confidence and someone who will listen.

Please Verwon read methadonetoday or go read what Dr. Nyswander says about methadone.I Know methadone isnt for everyone but it works for me.There are people out there taking antidepressants,why dont u tell them to pull there boots up and face life head on.I Know its hard for u to believe but i do care about my fellow man.What happened to live and let live?

As I said I did not mean to offend you and I apologize that you were upset by my post.

However, this is quite different from someone suffering from depression.

I am also well aware of all the information there is on Methadone, since providing this type of information is what I do. It is actually one of the worst drugs to try to get off of.

Have you considered a Suboxone program? It has successfully helped some people to get off of Methadone, as well as other drugs.

All I am really trying to do here is encourage you and saying you can beat it in the long run, if you really want to and don't necessarily have to go back to it.
