Lyrica Lawsuit (Page 19)

Updated

Does anyone know if there is an ongoing lawsuit against the company who puts out Lyrica? I am a mess from it. Do we have a leg to stand on when it comes to the side effects they found out from people like us? I am a long termer. I have been taking 900 mg since 2005. Is there anyone representing us? Thank you

I was on Lyrica to treat pain I was experiencing from back surgery. At first I was amazed at how much better I felt but after a month I began to experience swelling in my hands...Then I noticed terrible pain in the joints of my fingers and eventually it began to affect my knee joints and my feet. I took myself off Lyrica and have been off it for several months now but my hands are a mess. They are especially bad when I wake in the morning. I can't hold anything and as I try to close and open my fingers the joints seem to stick so I have to force them open and feel a little pop especially on my middle fingers. I never experienced anything like this in my life and fear this may never get any better!!!

Lyrica caust me my job @ a hospital, one of the side effects I experianced was that people thought I was drunk. The hospital did a mandatory alcohol test which came back negative. I also suffered memory loss which has improved somewhat but not like it was, and falling and not remembering it. There was other side effects but they were not listed. Doctors were told this drug could treat chronic pain also. False advertising. If they can take an old reliable drug like darvocet off the market, I think they should look into lyrica. Some one is making a lot of money off this bad bad bad drug

Dr.'s and the FDA approved this for Fibro, because they too much chicken s***'s to prescribe what really works. (pain meds). It's a cop out. Lyrica to me is a placebo and Cymbalta too. I took these for Fibro myself and When I stopped and continued the pain meds. I got better. Changing my lifestyle(quitting my labor job) and rest with pain meds, greatly improved my pain. If your going to be dependant on a med, then at least take something that really works. You can wean off later when you are feeling better. To me Fibro has been around for hundreds of years and is caused by under treated pain and not enough sleep caused from pain. Called Rhuemetism. JMO.

Lyrica is anything but a placebo! A placebo means it does not contain any medication, like a sugar pill. This is most definitely a drug: an addictive, dangerous, mind-altering, harmful, poison. Lyrica has taken lives, caused catastrophic disabilities, & destroyed families. It needs to be banned & those responsible for putting & keeping it on the market after falsifying data & hiding side effects should be in prison.

I would love to be part of anything you do against this company and even against my doctor. She was terrible while I saw her and did everything from screw up prescriptions the even go as far as yelling at me in her office because she had a bad day. I put up with it and tried to get around her forgetful personality by writting everything down, strangely she still got prescriptions wrong, the last time I saw her she gave me Lryica without telling me anything about it. The next day at work I could barely function, I spent the first hour in the bathroom crying. The the memory problems started. I only took 2 pills I beleive and after 3 days at work I was let go from my assignment due to many things most of them were because of this pill. After that I felt like I was just plain stupid. I couldn't complete thoughts, sentences etc.. it lasted months. I am better now, its been a year since I took it, but I truely was never the same and have lost the confidence to do my job. I am currently filing for disability. This doctor ruined my job, she was careless, and as I looked for another doctor she got wind of how unhappy I was and forbid me from seeing anyone in her practice ever again. Now it seems as though I am having to fight that stigma with every new doctor I go to even though I have notes and proof of the things she was doing wrong. I do have fibro and find that none of the normal things you should take for it help me, I am stuck on a path that has no hope for help especally if I get hurt, I'm taking vicodin but its the only thing that helps and doesn't make me crazy. If you do manage to start a lawsuit please don't forget me.. I would love to be part of it. Thank you so much for joining the fight.

I agree with you. I am on vicodan now which helps me without the side effects of lyrica. I hope they do file a class action suit. I lost a lot of money when I was foced to leave my job.

We are in discussions with a local lawyer here in VA. I told them our story and he is looking into things. All we need is one lawyer somewhere and the flood gates will open.

Hi, I was put on Lyrica on December 20, 2011 and by December 27 I started noticing an almost 10 pound increase in my weight, by the next day I lost my voice, my hands, legs and feet swelled up, my neck swelled and I felt a tightness in my chest with a hard time breathing. I also realized while I was talking with friends I would loose my train of thought, and start talking about something else that made no sense at all. I also noticed I was hallucinating. My friends thought I was out of it when I was talking. I am a nurse who was injured on the job, I tore my left rotator cuff, had surgery and am suffering with severe back pain. The pain management office I was referred to started me on this awful drug. When I realized something was not right with me I googled this drug and the side effects and realized that was what was happening to me. I phoned my pharmacist to further investigate and she told me to stop the drug asap. I did but now days later I am still suffering with a hard time breathing when I go up and down a flight of stairs. I wake up in the morning with my hands numb and tingling and so painful that I cannot even hold a glass of water. My feet are so swollen that I can barely walk. I informed the pain clinic of the side effects I am experiencing and I was told it will take a couple of weeks before the symptoms go away. My own sons are saying how moody I have become.. And that is not like me. We need to do something about this drug people.

On June 30th, 2007, I was given the choice of resign or be fired. I had just come off a workman's comp accident which had lasted 5 days. Prior to that the hospital that I worked for had me on a six month probation with monthly evaluations because I could not be counted on to follow directions because I had taken myself off lyrica against my family doctor's orders. I was even seeing a physchogist towards the end in order to save my job as a Respiratory therapist. I was only on the drug a few weeks. So I went cold turkey, with my phone by my side, in case of any problems. A doctor I knew many years ago told me that would be best with any addictive drug if you have not been on it long. I came through but still lost my job. I was working 40 hours a week, making $25.00/H. I had planned to retire in 2016. The hospital could have found a job for me that did not involve patient care, but they just wanted me gone. _ still have memory lapses. Lyrica needs to be off the market, not all side effects were listed. That is false advertising. They need to be taken to court. I still do not trust my memory as to when certainevents occurred.

So far I have not had anyone tell me specifically that a lawsuit can be started against Lyrica and the manufacturers. I took it for some time and have suffered a lot because of it. My family noticed my memory problems and so did I. I have been off Lyrica for 8 months and am still not myself. I have no persistence to do anything, I am in a fog. I feel lost and also very alone in my suffering. My doctor does not believe me and I suspect he thinks I am a hypercondriac, however you spell it. I tried to tell him my legs were extremely swollen and hurt a lot. Three months later, I was simply getting into the back seat of my car and my leg popped. I had a stress fracture in my left tibia. I couldn't walk for 3 months without the help of a walker. It still hurts. I have not recovered from this drug and do not think I ever will fully recover. Between memory problems, concentration problems, pain in my legs, vision being blurry and not being able to think straight I feel like the rest of my life will be influenced by this drug even though I will NEVER take it again.

This a post script to my earlier post. I was also a LPN. I worked for this hospital for 29 years and all of a sudden I was a danger. I loved my career, and that was the thanks I got for it, all because of a drug called lyrica

My husband was on Lyrica for a week in a half....we stopped use really quickly, he had lost the ability to speak straight and also had problems with his legs just giving out...its been 3 months since we discontinued use and he still has issues his legs will give out and he can't walk for hours sometimes even days after the episodes, he gets tongue tied and seems like his memory is depleted he can't even remember what potatoes are called. We had no idea how dangerous the drug was and he was on it for such a short amount of time he is far to young at 26 to have all these issues...it all started on day 3 of taking Lyrica at 100 mg daily..after 5 more days..when we told the dr he tried to raise the dosage...we discontinued use instead and all issues remain and are sporadic we never know when its going to happen...he also has headaches and blurry vision....he had 13 different side effects but these are the ones still remaining

My 30 year old uncle was diagnosed with nerve damage and he was in terrible pain. His doctor put him on Lyrica. At age 34 he died from a massive heart attack. Before taking Lyrica, he was an outgoing and talented bowler. He was a very smart man when it came to math and finances. I watched him go down hill quickly and never gave a thought to it being side effects of Lyrica. He started drinking all night and sleeping all day. He had serious weight gain, swollen arms and legs, and never left the house anymore. He gave up completely on everything in life. Then I found out the side effects of Lyrica and everyone of them raises a red flag with me and my uncle's death. I want to do something about it and am sad to see so many other people hurt by this medicine.

I came across this site looking for a class action suit against the makers of Lyrica. I suffered a severe spinal trauma in 2008 after surgery I was put on Lyrica. I began having severe pain in my hands, swelling and electric shocks and twitching. I was sent to a hand dr. and was told I had carpal tunnel and needed surgery in both wrists. I kept putting off the surgery because I almost died in my back surgery and couldn't go through surgery again. I then began with blurry and double vision and twitching, jerking. I also began waking up in middle of the night in a panic. I had trouble concentrating & memory problems. I could barely speak and then I had sleep paralysis everytime I laid down or slept. I was put in hospital for brain monitoring and the Dr told the nurses not to help me out of sleep Paralysis & let me lie in bed trapped. I cried all the time I couldn't talk, see, walk, drive, think, or lie down without someone babysitting. I was was sent to NeuroPhys. who sat and berated me for an hr told me it was all in my head I left him suicidal and a month later received it in writing. I still have some double vision and I now have cataracts and panic attacks, cry alot on top of my original damage. This so-called NeuroPhys never even mentioned Lyrica might be causing the symptoms that were destroying my life and traumatized me himself. I would like to file a suit against him also. I haven't been the same since.

I hear you and agree with you. Some of your symptoms I had, only I would fall down a lot and not be able to get up. People also thought I was drunk even though the hospital I was working at did a blood test which was negative for alcohol. I thought I was fine. I did not not notice any side effects but others did. I am off it now but still suffer memory lapses. I think that is why I was forced to resign because of what lyrica did to me. I hope some one can find a lawyer to take them on.

Roy, did you get your degree yet? If so I am very interested in joining lawsuit. Have been on Lyrica for 7 years now in varying doses & now realize, after reading many posts here & elsewhere that many of the things I have been experiencing for years are actually because of this drug. Dr that originally prescribed was asked repeatedly about side effects & specifically told me there were very few & not serious! Please contact me...

I would loose my balance, and experienced vertigo, right away after 2 days on lyrica. I had numbness in my hands even weeks after not taking anything. My sentences, right away did not make sense. I would think one thing, but say something that didn;t connect. I was always very strong, in my oral communication, before taking lyrica. My doctor tried to increase my doseage, but i did not fill the prescription. Weight gain piled on right away. Depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts all appearred, i thought from no where. Thank God, I was strong in my faith, very angry about being used like some guinea pig experiment with this drug. My doctor, only asked if i had kidney problems, in concern for the side effects. I went to my dr. several times, with many side effects, and she did not inform me of these dangers. My doctor still denies, the side effects. I drive my car daily, and nothing was told to me about not operating a vehicle on lyrica.!!!l Good thing i got off that disgusting drug, i have never been prepared to want to sue the manufacturers of this drug.
