Lyrica Lawsuit (Page 16)

Updated

Does anyone know if there is an ongoing lawsuit against the company who puts out Lyrica? I am a mess from it. Do we have a leg to stand on when it comes to the side effects they found out from people like us? I am a long termer. I have been taking 900 mg since 2005. Is there anyone representing us? Thank you

Lexie, Marcie, & BadMed, Glad you found this site & are connecting Lyrica to your problems even though the doctors choose to be blind to the side effects of this hideous drug.
Lexie, in my experience yes, 50 mg/day can cause problems. You may not see them as quickly but the longer I was on it, the worse my symptoms became. There are also problems that you may not be aware of for months or years like tooth damage & decreased blood clotting (which can wreak havoc on someone who has endometriosis). This drug damages/kills nerves. Naturally if your nerve is dead you won't feel as much pain, but you may not be able to move your hand, see, or hear eventually too (a few examples from people's posts).

Marcie, I'm not clear if you're having voice problems (tone, volume, pitch) or problems speaking (can't find correct words, think one word & say a different one, have garbled speech). I don't know of anyone who has had voice effects, but MANY have speech problems. If it is speech, its because your brain is not working the way it used to, much like someone who had a stroke. This can resolve partially or completely over time as the brain is great at laying new neural pathways. Working with someone who assists stroke patients will allow a quicker & more complete recovery than doing nothing.

I wish you all the best in your recoveries. There is a lot of information in back posts & also on Facebook at the Lyrica Survivors page. Stay strong & beware of Drs. claiming this is all in your head!!

Lexie, I signed up here as Miranda, a screen name, but started using my real first name here after Amy started Lyrica Survivors on Facebook because I use my real name there. Hope that clears it up.

Oh, my! I took one of my 50mg's around 2 a.m. (have some insomnia lately) and it's still 'going strong' at this time--very 'spacey' feeling--very weird. And, so far it's helped with the pain, and feeling that boiling water is being poured over my wrists/fingers, but am worried about all of these harmful side effects reported here.

I have a dr. appt. tomorrow with the orthopaedist who prescribed it in June (didn't get it filled for about a month after) and see what he says about it. Because most doctors, at least in my area , belong to a group/hospital, my doc is still in 'private' practice and wondering if pharma targets these private ones more than the hospital-associated providers.(?). I've heard that because of much public/media attention over some other drug companies, these hospital docs/groups post/state that they do not participate in those kinds of 'shenanigans,' but who knows? It's so sad that nowadays it's the 'buck' and only the 'buck' that counts, so is hard to trust. God Bless you all and hope those with these serious problems get the attention, consideration and/or compensation for all of their suffering in the near future. Roy, where are you, guy?--hope all is going well for you and everyone of the posters to this site and my deep appreciation for the replies to my previous/first post here! Thanks!

Just wanted to mention something I ran across today, especially w/regard to Marcie. I saw part of a tv program "Mystery Diagnosis" & a woman was having problems speaking, her voice was tight & broken when speaking but she could yell just fine. Turns out there is a condition called Spasmodic Dystonia, a neurological disorder causing the larynx to spasm. I thought it might be relevant since so many people have posted problems with muscle spasms &/or neurological symptoms. Just a thought... Hope every day brings you all closer to a healthy joyful life!

Reference my post of 8/9; Tuesday: Well...saw a PA at my orthopaedist's office and related my concerns re: Lyrica and known side effects and my 'worries' over long-term, serious SE's noted on this site. Guess what? His response: I don't really know that much about any side effects or Lyrica! Yikes!!!!!! I guess I need to ask my pharmacist about this drug as it is quite apparent that the person who prescribed this drug to me doesn't know (or apparently care) about these reported side effects! My bet is that, unfortunately, many doctors really do not know what the heck they're prescribing and get their 'information' strictly from the pharma sales people who peddle these drugs and likely give a little 'incentive' to doctors/'providers'. I guess claiming 'ignorance' about any side effects would more likely get them ' off the hook' if any litigation were to occur. Oh well, I'm being very vigilant about taking this drug, even just once at night. Oh, also: I am Rx'd 50mg 3x per day---sooooo....I also asked this PA if it was okay to just take it once before bedtime and he replied: "You can take it any way you want"----do you believe that? Maybe it's time to insist on seeing the actual MD/surgeon in that practice as I fear this guy doesn't know much about anything, particularly about what responsibility a health care provider has when prescribing medication! Scary...to say the least!!!

No supprise about the Dr's not knowing or not saying thats my guess. The Dr's are being told that the only thing to worry about is suiside, the makers are pumping millions into the sale of this poison. I am calling the FDA and making a complaint on behalf of my wife. Maybe if we all do that someone will listen.

For all of you still on Lyrica, I will be praying for you. My daughter, Amber, was on it and was unable to "cold turkey" off of it. It now requires a "3" part doctor's prescription (narcotic).
She is now off all Lyrica. The only way to do it is go down 25 mg at a time, slowly like over 2-3 weeks, then reduce again. The difference in her is unbelievable. She is reading again (just finished her 11th book in 8 weeks) and she can actually carry on an intelligent conversation. She is still not out of the "woods", but headed for the light.

from what i can gather there are strict prescribing guidelines the doctor must follow as well as a duty of care to monitor you for side effects. so if he doesnt know i would not take it. if someone isnt monitoring you on lyrica you could end up not really being in the best position to help yourself. take care

my father in his 80's was prescribed lyrica for his feet and this drug nearly killed him. I finally persuaded him to come off it and he has made a remarkable recovery. I think something needs to be done about this drug, how many people are dying or seriously ill from this drug?

I have been takeing lyrica during 2011 for nerve damage related to back injury and auto accident which led to nerve damage in my feet. The side affects have been intolerable. Started with rash on my legs then my entire body. My feet have swollen to the point I can barelly walk and at age 55 I feel my life has been destroyed. My family doctor finally sent me to a dermatologest when my feet became red swollen and broke out in horrible blisters at rash sites. These blisters break leaving running sores and holes that take forever to heal and become infected easily. I have had blurred eye site, achey muscles and joints, swollem feet and legs, terrible pain, rash on entire body and lost all top teeth and all but 8 on bottom since first of year. Until that time I had good teeth. I am looking for an attorney to take my case I have no insurance and this has financially drained me. My wife has fibromyalgia, osterarthritis and lupus and has been my primary care giver and it has affected her health. I regret the day this drug came into my life especially since it did little to help my problems to begin with. I feel for everyone that has been suffering from this drug and think the first thing to be done is to stop all the advertising of so called miracle drug.

Lexi,
I'm here, I am studying and cramming Law like a mad man. That's because "I am mad as hell". I am still stuck on Lyrica 4 - 300mg's a day. I have begged my doctor for help to get off of it period. My teeth are now bad, legs / feet swollen, can't even get my shoes on. I go out of my mind when I stop, I am a vegetable and need total care. So I continue to take the lyrica so I can finish law school. I will pass the bar the first TIME because I want to be the Counselor that burns the makers of LYRICA to the ground. I want to recover monetary damages for all of the pain and suffering for all of you / (us) beautiful, wonderful people in and out of this forum. There are also permanent damages to consider, serious damages that many of us have suffered, and will live withe the rest of our lives. I am on a enormous dose of Lyrica, I know what all of you are going through. Tapering off of Lyrica is a joke ! If some of you have done that you could have died unless you had the help of yet more drugs, and a real physician that actually cared. Don't try it on your own. I will seek or moreso demand compensation for this to help everyone. And paid proffesional help to stop taking Lyrica in a fashion that the patient / us, will not suffer the side effects while doing so. DO NOT TRY TO STOP TAKING THIS DRUG ON YOUR OWN OR "COLD TURKEY" IT CAN AND WILL KILL YOU ! LISTEN TO ME, THIS DRUG IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS ! None of us knew this when it was prescribed, We all trusted our Doctors "wisdom". It is not our fault, just remember that. Please hang in there until I get out of Law school. I am on the fast track and will have my Bar within 5-7 months.
I apologize to all of you for not writing more often, but never think I'm not following this forum. There is enough evidence in this forum alone to burn their asses to the ground. And I vow to all of you to do just that. I will start airing commercials on prime time television the day after my Bar Exam. I have in the past phoned Attorney's all over this country, and not one wanted to get involved in this. I guarantee you when this airs on TV my phone will be ringing off the wall with not only victims of Lyrica, but also all of those attorneys wanting a piece of the action. I am a honest man as the day is long, and when I know I'm right about a particular item I will fight to the death. That's just always been my way, all or nothing. I have devoted my life now to severely punishing the makers of Lyrica, "PFIZER". I will also seek prison sentences for those "in the know" within that company. We just have no way of knowing how many people have passed away due to Lyrica. Their deaths are on their hands, and the families that step forward will recieve huge unbelievable compensations, just as those of us that still have our lives.
I want everyone here to know something, I honestly am not doing this to make money from any of your settlements although it is inevitable, I am doing this because I am a victim of this drug just as everyone here is.
* I want you all to please email your full names, addresses, and phone numbers to my private email address so I can compile all of the information and have it ready to go. If you are not able to do it please have a family member or friend do it for you.
My Email is : roydmoss@***********.net [1]
Everyone know this, I will fight for all of you with my heart. As I see it we have all become related and brought together by one common element, Lyrica. We have the law on our side. Everyone is going to recieve the best care possible to leave Lyrica behind free of charge. Most of us will probably have to travel for this treatment, but it will be worth it. Just knowing you will be recieving millions of dollars in compensation should lift your spirits a little hopefully. We'll all go buy some NEW TEETH ! Ithought this type of stuff ony happened to crack heads, I was wrong. My smile looks like a crack addict now, so all of you are not alone, we are in this together. In your email to me I ask that you make me a promise. If I get you the best pain free help to get off of Lyrica, and get you a pocket full of money, Promise me you will NEVER touch Lyrica Again, and use the money wise as a lifetime for yourself and your family. Send your children to college, and spend the rest of your lives catching up for all the time lost with family, friends and fun. You need to really live, travel, take the kids to Disneyworld. Get back in touch with reality and enjoy the beauty of the world, and the real love of a child, wife, mother and father. I love you all - Roy Moss

One more thing, I will become a Attorney to be reckoned with. I will fight and win this major lawsuit. When it is over, I will stop practicing law. I mean it. I will give this case all I have to give. There is power in prayer, so let's all use it together. Don't worry we will all get over this together. Talk to you soon. - Roy

I have been taking lyrica for five plus years now....I have some very serious side effects that I see we are all having the same problem with this drug... Since taking lyrica, I am not the person that I use to be. I have been told now that I am biopolar, my eye sight is very blurred and i use to have perfect vision..I have to have glasses to read because without them word are too tiny for me to see them. I am 44 years old, and because of my lyrica i think i already know what it feels like to be old. When i wake up i have to first wake myself up and then wake my body up, and pray that when I do finally get up to walk that I would be able to without pain. I am taking lithum, because I lost myself and i wanted to die...I am taking clonazepam, because I am now having what they call panic attack seizures.....which makes me pass out. ....mirtazapine to help me rest at night and for depression...plus a whole lot of other stuff...before taking lyrica i was a very loving, patient, fun person...now my family tells me that they have to walk on egg shells around me because I get angry too quick. I have alot of moment when i don't want no one around me, so i make everybody leave. I did contact an attorney to file a suit against the company, but they denied my case. I am now looking for another attorney, but having no luck. Please. If anyone know a law firm that is currently taking cases for Lyrica, please inform me. I now weigh 198lbs....Before lyrica i use to weigh 137lbs. I try everything to take the weight off but it does not help. My body is retaining alot of fluid which nothing seems to really help much with that problem. And to make matters worse, more problems are being added on. Headaches, spasm, memory loss, concentration, pain, numbness, tingling in my fingers and toes, unable to sleep at night, serious mood changes, thoughts of suicide, UTI problems, serious back pain(top and bottom), stomach pain and pelvic pain, and the list goes on. I have fibromyalgia, RA, mental problems, high blood pressure, panic seizures, edema, High cholestrol, nerve problems, and that list continues also. I will continue looking for lawyers and when i find one i will post it.

Im soory for yoursuffering, I too have the exact same problems you have word for word. It was like I was tlaking about myself. I laso have been turned down by several lawyers. They are still Marketing this Drug Lyrica. It is a shame, everytime I see one of their commercials I just want to throw something at the TV. I too have beenon it since 05. I was up to 900 mg a day and I was a total dummy. I thought I was going crazy. Repeatimg things I had said less than a mn before, the confusion just everything you have. I just ran out of it for 3 days and I thought I was goimg to die! Get this, mu doctor wouldnt approve it for some reason, It took one of my manc atttacks at the nurse that I was going to show up their sick as a dog and throw up all over their waiting room. It is the worst thing I have ever experience. The withdraws. I myself took my self down from 900 mg to 300 mg a day. Until there is something to help with the extreme numbness and tingling that is so bad I cant walk, it affects my whole left side of my body from th neck down, So if I dont take it I hafe that, if I do take it I am a wreak emotionally. I am very withdrawn because I cant carry on a conversation. I cant even order a meal when I do go out to dinner. I am with someone who cares for me and was with me before the Lyrica so he knows how I was and has stood by my side. God Bless him. Its my kids that dont understand why I cant drie or talk right. I am embarrsed and usually tell people like a teacher at a conference for my kids up front that I am on a med that mkes me confused. I dont want them to think that I am a NUT! Its not fair and I know for a fact that we are not ever going to b the same ever! I saw little change coming down 600 mg. So hat tells me ourside affects are permanate. I beleivve one day that someone will b knocking our doors down for a class action suit. It just a matter of time. I still pray for the Getleman named Ray (i beleive that was his name) He was bvcomming a lawyer and had also taken Lyrica and his words were, I will b back, he wants to represnt as all at no charge! Look back into th old posts. You should find his email/God Bless you and hang in there. One day Our knight in shinning armor will ride in on his white horse and stick it to pfiser, maybe they should sit them down and put them on Lyrica, what the heck they say its safe, why dont you try ot out there folks. See hoe long you last on this poison! Love to all who suffer from the terrible drug LYRICA vicky
