Long Time User Of Zolpidem

Updated

I'm a long term user of zolpidem. Whenever I forget to take this medicine I have horrible dreams, sweats and a poor night's sleep. With zolpidem I sleep very well.I guess I should continue zolpidem indefinitely as long as my doctor approves. Also, MEDCO is now sending me pale orange zolpidem instead of white. How can I tell it's zolpidem?

Your body is most likely used to you taking the medication, so you experience some minor withdrawal effects, if you skip a dose. That is normal, and happens with anything we ingest regularly.

The FDA lists the typical side effects of Zolpidem as possibly including nausea, dizziness, odd dreams, sleep actions, and next day hangover-like effects.

As to the tablet you are receiving. What are the markings on it?

That is what would enable someone to identify it for you to confirm what you are receiving.

Zolpidem is only meant to be used for short term use but doctors prescribe it way longer and people continue to use it. If you ever want to stop taking it, you will absolutely need to taper it and be prepared to have some extremely uncomfortable nights ahead of you! You could have really scary and disturbing dreams, have restless legs, feel super uncomfortable in your body, feel an indescribable scary terror like feeling that will make you afraid to go to sleep or even lay down! I had to have my husband sleep spooned against me tight to help ease the feeling of absolute terror!! I had terrible insomnia for days! I’m extremely happy to be off this medication and sleep so much better without it. It only helps for a short amount of time and I stopped feeling refreshed in the morning. I never dreamed when I took it so that made me feel like I just didn’t sleep well at all. It will be difficult if you do decide to stop taking it but will be so worth it. Once you get over 3-5 horrible disturbing dreadful nights, you will probably find that you sleep so much better without being medicated
