Linzess Weight Gain (Page 4)

I was just prescribed Linzess for my IBS. I am wondering if others on this medicine have experienced wieght gain?

Yes. I gained over 30 lbs. and I'm still trying to get it all off. I thought it would help me and, initially, it did. I could finally have a regular bowel movement but then it stopped working as well. Then came the weight gain. I still can't fit in my jeans. I'll never take Linzess again

I only took Linzess 2 times and I have not lost the bloat or weight gain yet and it's been 1 week since off of it. My stomach is more distended than the other day. What do you think happens with this drug?

Yes weight gain I think for sure and bloating maybe 5 lbs weight gain

YES!!!!
I gained 15 pounds on this medication and only took it for 2 weeks. I am playing hell now trying to kick the weight off!

Linzess makes you retain water to help flush out your body. I had could barely even get off the potty 24/7, and in the meantime still gained 15 pounds in the 2 weeks I took the medication.

I went from my already dangerously low weight of 95lb. to 90.4lb. I got on linzess because I haven't been able to eat due to constipation. I'm really worried now because I'm still constipated! I don't know what to do... I know many out there often ignore us, thinking that we should count ourselves lucky. Although reality would knock them on the head. Of course you're going to gain weight, overall and in general. It's called your body can process more!!! Even if you eat healthy you can finally process your food properly and you are gaining muscle to boot. Of course this isn't 100%, nothing ever is.

I certainl would love to know what it is about that drug that makes us gain weight that won't come off!!!!! This is a REAL problem for me!

I have been taking this pill for chronic constipation, for seven months, since I gain 17 pounds. It shows mostly in my stomach, so bad that my ribs hurt. After reading all these reviewes, THE LINZEN SHOULD BE DISCONTINUED.

Am in the same boat! I lost all the wright after both pregnancies but can't seem to kick this Linzess weight. Have you found anything that works??

I also was on Linzess for about 6 months. I was so bloated and swollen that if I wasn't too old to be pregnant people would probably think I was pregnant. I gained 30 lbs and have been off Linzess for about 1 year. I still gain weight and look pregnant. I take Zumba classes 3 times a week and two days a week I do the treadmill or eliptical 30 minutes and a muscle toning DVD for 30 minutes. I keep a food log and stay between 1200 to 1300 calories per day. I also keep track of carbs and fat per day. I got tired of donating money to weight watchers so I quit, it wasn't helping me. I am very depressed and discouraged that I cannot lose the weight I gained on Linzess.

All I can say for sure since starting Linzess is that I am constantly hungry. I have room to spare to maintain a healthy BMI, but this feeling of always being hungry, and never being satisfied, is making me crazy. Yesterday I cut up two cantaloupes so that I would have fruit handy, today I ate two cantaloupes in one sitting! The worst part is, is that even after maintaining a diary of everything I have eaten and every BM I have had for 3 weeks I can't tell if I am any better or not. The results are not consistent. I may just go back to being a slave to my bowels.

Stop taking the mirilax it pulls water into your intestines and causes abdominal bloating and yeah if your pulling extra water into your intestines your carrying more water and you will weigh more

I've been doing a lot of research on this issue since my sister is having the same problem. I came across something called Trulance that just came out in January that everyone is saying is way better than Linzess. I can't say for certain whether or not it's better since I haven't taken it but I think it would be worth looking into based on what I've read. Hope this helps!

Since I have been on Linzess, I Find that I have to pass gas all the time.Is that natural?
After I take the pill in the morning,I have at least 2 Bowel movement, if I don't take a pill for the diarrhea, I will continue to have BM,'s,at least 2 more times during the day.

I have HORRIBLE gas, the number of BM' s is about 3-4 in the morning, but the other problem I am having is that I pee many, many more times. I hate this.

I’ve been on Linzess for 4 days and am spilling out of my clothes! I just wore this same outfit last week and had to change because everything is so tight and uncomfortable. Just last week my dad said I look like I lost weight. I webt began to see if it helped my stomach pain. Doc prescribed Linzess and I thought I was crazy today when none of my clothes fit! Keep in mind I work out 3-5 days a week and run for 30-45 min after strength training. Will definitely be calling my doc tomorrow cause the only thing I’ve changed was taking Linzess.

I also gained 30lbs while on this medication, although I was on it for approx. 3 years or so. I took myself off of Linzess about 3 months ago and not only can I not lose weight, but I've gained 10lbs since then. Would you mind an update? Have you had any luck losing the weight since?
