Kvk Tech Oxycodone 30mg Ir

Updated

I was taking activis 30mg IR for a long time. It worked really well on pain with minimal narcotic effect. Now they only have KVK brand oxycodone. This is by far the worst medication for pain I have ever had. It has a strong long lasting narcotic effect with no pain relief at all. I'm taking it back to my Dr and getting a new perscription. Does anyone know who carries Activis and/or a brand that is comparable?

Hi Rong,

I find it interesting that the KVK tech is working better for you than the Actavis brand, because many people on here are actually taking the time out to file complaints with the FDA about the lack of efficacy coming from Actavis's other pain medications - (namely Percocet).

However, when it comes to finding out what's in stock, a lot of pharmacies aren't usually allowed to tell you what they carry over the phone. So it seems like your best bet would probably just be to go in person to ask.

Due to the high volume of sales they have, I'd also keep in mind that their stock could be changing on a moment to moment basis...

I hope this helps!

I said that kvk k9 brand is by far the worst medication ever. It sucked. It worked more like a street drug than a pain med. I was high as a kite and suffering in pain ps. I did file complaint with FDA

You indicated that you filed a report with the FDA, have they contacted you?

Rong, several of my friends and myself have different types of chronic pain illness. We have been sold KVK Tech Inc. pills, that we all call the "poison pills" by Kroger (which is also King Sooper) Safeway and Walgreens. I was also told that this is within the law, that the FDA allows a scale of effectiveness and that these pills are on the low end of the scale. Suggest you contact your doctor and ask for a different pain medication. Walgreens employee told me that they purchased millions of these knowing they don't work, and that leads me to believe that Safeway and Kroger did the same. Have your doctor prescribe something different and let these corporations "eat" their own greed.

Rong, were you able to find a different manufacturer than KVK Tech Inc.? I have found ZYGenerics to be effective for two months now, with great pain relief and no side effects. I feel that Kroger and Safeway have stolen thousands of dollars from me, as they know that the KVK Tech Inc. products are on the low end of the allowed scale of the FDA but continue to sell them. I ask before my prescription is filled and tell all pharmacies that I can not use products by KVK Tech Inc., but have found they write on my prescription and fill it with KVK Tech products, then I'm stuck for 30 days with no pain relief and side effects. Were you able to fix your problem?

I too was switched to the KVK Oxycodone 30mg tablets. I have a comment regarding the Walgreen's employee who told Susie that Walgreen's purchased millions of these tablets by KVK. I raise an eyebrow to that statement as I am very close to the pharmacy manager in the Walgreen's Store where I fill my class 2 meds. One time I asked him about the amount of meds that Walgreens orders for their stores and why they stopped dispensing the Activis brand? The manager told me that they are not privy to this information and they have no clue when they will go back to dispensing the Activis as the distribution centers do not disclose any information to the pharmacists. Also, the pharmacists cannot request certain brands be shipped to them. On the other hand, I used to go to a mom and pop pharmacy and the owner told me he could request Activis or Mallinckrodt.

My last comment is about the difference in the KVK Oxycodone 30mg tablets and the Activis tablets. I have found the KVK to be weaker than the Activis but absolutely no side effects. This is a very common complaint with customers who are used to one brand of a class 2 med and they like the results they received from the brand they have been consuming for months and years. The same thing happened when Purdue formulated the tamper proof Oxycontin. Many people complained that not only were the tamper proof Oxycontin tablets weaker but that they were going into withdrawls and they got headaches and all kinds of ailments from those wretched pills. Now you barely hear a word about the reformulated tablets. It was obvious that the abusers didn't like the fact that they couldn't break up the reformulated tablets to misuse them. Plain and simple. You can forget the FDA doing anything about this crusade to ban the KVK brand as it will not happen. Learn to live with them or go to CVS and get their house brand which is Qualitest. In my opinion, I think that the Qualitest are weaker than the KVK. Good luck abusers as you know who you are. You cannot fool a recovering addict. We know all the tricks and all the lingo and all the stories that are repeated over generations of this insanity.

Dorothy, You mentioned two brands of the Oxycodone that I haven't tried, the Activis and Qualitest and thanks for that info. I am relatively new to using any type of pain med to function (pain since July 2000, but meds the 1st time, a little over 3 years ago). I didn't start with the oxy 30mg, but when I moved to it, I experienced immediate results with controlling pain and didn't even check who manufactured it. I wasn't even aware that there is a difference in manufacturers. I certainly wasn't aware that the FDA allows a fudge factor of 12% on some drugs. Last summer I started having side effects, to include bladder infections which I have no history of, and the pills were not controlling my pain at all. A little slow to figure it out, but noticed a pattern of when I received the KVK Tech Inc. oxy 30mg is the months that I suffered pain and side effects. Other months that I was given Mallinckrodt oxy 30mgs, my pain was controlled and I had no side effects. Started asking some other chronic pain suffers and found they were having very similar problems with KVK Tech products. Several months ago my doctor changed my oxy from 30mg to 20mg. The first month of the 20mg oxy (KVK again) was completely awful (no pain relief and horrible side effects), which is what caused me to start researching the KVK products as I had also had the problem with their 30mg. Then a couple effective months of 20mg oxy use (not KVK), then whammy, the KVK product again and again no pain relief and horrible side effects. The following month I purchased from an independent pharmacy and was sold ZyGenerics brand which controlled the pain and with no side effects. As each of us is different, glad that their products work for you and don't make you sick. The remarks you made about Oxycontin, I can't say, about the effectiveness of that pill, have never used it. Was that pill ER as well as tamper proof? I do know that a recent addition of a different tamper proof ER pain medication to my pain management program has been absolutely wonderful. It's hard for me to understand why any one dealing with constant pain would not like the benefit of 12 hour pain relief without the ups and downs that come with using a 4 to 6 hour pain reliever. I do know why a drug abuser wouldn't want any type of ER tamper proof pill (regardless of manufacturer), sort of defeats the whole 'being high' thing doesn't it? I do believe that if a corporation ceases to make money on a product, they will stop selling the product or improve the product. That's why I suggested people who are having a problem with KVK products, try an alternative pain med instead of oxycodone. "Learning to live with it" is not what works for me and I have sometimes hurt my head hitting walls. Rules and regulations can be changed with federal agencies and each agency has a procedure to do so. There would be lots of people complaining if they were being sold gasoline, meat, or electricity that was being allowed a 12% fudge factor. Imagine 12% of every day you are without electricity, you wouldn't be willing to accept that. How about 7%, 6%? Something as important has health care should not be allowed a large fudge factor. Even though the KVK Tech products work for you and don't give you side effects, I hope you agree that the current fudge factor is too large. People who are not in chronic pain or know some one who is, don't have much understanding of how greatly this impacts someone's life. Drug abuse worldwide has gone on for centuries, selling an inferior product, monitoring cold and flu products, etc. isn't going to solve that problem. Congrats on the "former" in that abuser statement, it's an extremely hard road and you deserve lots of praise. Oh, maybe the employee of Walgreens spoke "out of school" or was guessing on his facts, but even as I may be old, my ears still work LOL

Is this thread still active? I am amazed to run across this as I was searching to find if oxycodone came in a 30mg tablet. I was on 20mg tablets and they were workong, then the pharmacy switched to another brand. I had surgery at this same time. Since I hav3 a tolerance to pain med from long term use, I was in horrible pain. The surgeon said tlmtake 30mgs every 3 hours by breaking the 20s in half and taking one and a half. It made me really sick! I had to choose between suffering horribly or feeling like I had taken a toxin. I chose to suffer. The 20mgs did not go, back to working for my chronic pain (since they were not really before). I assumed it was more tolerance build up, until,I saw this discussion. I'd love to find a brand that would simply go back to relieving chronic pain, no side effects, and being able to,think and function normally. I'm seeing that isnt going to happen with my walgreens kvk generic brand. What options are there, if any?? We have very few pharmacies where we are. They all seem to carry this same kvk.

Ash
I'm still around LOL Just a little name change. I am still having trouble with the KVK Tech brand oxycodone. I thought I found an independent pharmacy where I could get a different brand. All well for about 3 months and then, they weren't able to get anything but KVK Tech. They did tell me that they may have a different brand available in September, but what is that suppose to do for me this week when my medication runs out again?

Ash,
I look through different places on the website, cause really good information is sometimes posted in some strange conversations LOL. Several people have mentioned that the 30mg, 20mg etc., aren't working in controlling their pain and they aren't sure what the problem is. Some seem to think they have built a tolerance very quickly, some think the problem lies with their whole pain management program, some think it's the doctor, and for a long time I wasn't sure why I was having such a problem with my medication being effective. I was prescribed 30mg oxycodone 5x daily and was able to function and able to participate in my family life. I am a chronic pain patient and without effective pain control, I do not function.
Took a couple years of my problems and others input to put it together. The KVK Tech manufactured oxycodone are not effective for me in relieving my pain and cause me to experience side effects. I live in the mountains of Colorado and there are three pharmacies within a 25 mile drive, but now all three carry only KVK oxy. So I now drive a 70 mile trip to the nearest large city to an independently owned pharmacy.
Cutting pills in half and taking different dosage at different times etc., my doctor suggested all, and none of that worked, but the brand was KVK LOL. Someone on this site explained how the FDA allows a "fudge factor" on the effectiveness on medications, and not just pain medication, all medication. Talked to the pharmacy, and they explained the same thing, that it's legal for different manufacturers to have less effective medication on the market.

Pharmacy explained that normal fudge factor is around 12% but sometimes pain meds are up to 20% less effective. Different buffers/fillers are used and as this is what transmits the actual medication to your CNS, the pain medication may not even be getting there, but it's in your body so you can still OD.

Ash,
Pharmacy at Walgreens and Safeway, both told me that KVK Tech oxycodone is what they will be filling prescriptions with for a long time. That their corporations had purchased large quantities of this medication at "pennies on the pill" so that's what they are going with, Corporate Profit rules. All three of the pharmacies here, told me that many of their customers are have problems with the effectiveness of the KVK Tech products, that I am not alone. Not being alone isn't much of an answer for my problem LOL. Walgreens and Safeway are who guided me with moving to independent pharmacies, to get the brands other than KVK.

KVK TECH is the worst brand for Oxy-IR.

Seeing when this thread started, it's quite ironic that I started having problems with my pain medication in March, 2014, when Walgreens switched FROM Actavis to KVK Tech because it was "cheaper for them". I had the worst month of my life, STUCK with a month's worth of KVK Tech pills.

My doctor said I probably built up a tolerance and wanted to increase my dose. I said I doubted it was a tolerance issue because of the timing. My last pill with Actavis worked just fine. My first pill with KVK, I felt zero pain relief, and I mean ZERO, taking 15mg tabs, about 8 per day. I declined the increase because the Actavis works just fine and I am not ready for an increase related to tolerance issues.

Needless to say, I found a very large chain pharmacy/retailer, that will order what ever brand I request and keep it in stock. I am the only person using that pharmacy who is on this medication and dose, so it has not been a problem getting my medication monthly. He always has it there. This was nearly 1 year ago and I have not had a problem since. I STILL do not require an increase in my dose.

I hope all of you will boycott KVK TECH, no matter what it takes. It is an absolute sin, what they have done with their pills. For you KVK-tech, think about this.......Someone could suffer severe withdrawal, including seizures and it will be all on you. Think about this. For people who start off with KVK Tech, they don't know the difference. If the pills don't relieve the pain, the doctor will increase the dose. However, THINK ABOUT THIS...........what if the person on KVK tech switches to Actavis or another brand with the CORRECT amount of the drug in their pills (or the correct release as it relates to binders)and that person suffers an overdose because they were not used to getting the new CORRECT dosage? So, for the FDA (who allows this 12% BS), think about that!

My mind is blown that this is even allowed. It's all math. If a manufacturer cannot put together a 15mg or 30mg pill with the correct amount of the drug, they should not be licensed to manufacture it. What is the reason for this allowance? It's not our technology, so what is it? Who is getting paid off? You can blame the binders all day long, but it all comes down to bioavailability. Instead of examining the pills for content and milligrams, do a study where blood levels are checked at 2-hours, half-life, and steady-state. You will see for yourself that KVK Tech is obviously skimping on the amount of drug they are actually using. Being on my dose for so long with complete relief from pain and then all of a sudden SUFFER terribly with the 1st to the last dose of a new brand and then going back to my old brand where relief is felt immediately with the first dose, is total proof that something is terribly wrong with KVK Tech. If you want to blame the fillers/binders, I should have been pain-free once I reached stead-state with the new drug brand KVK. But I never was. Not once in 30 days was my pain relieved.

I did not file a report with the FDA because I knew it would go nowhere. My blood still boils that I suffered so much last March, 2014, needlessly, and because of greed (IMO). Who knows, there could be other motives as well. If KVK gets enough complaints, (and I'm sure they have), why wouldn't they change their "fillers" (since that is their excuse). Because the FDA doesn't demand it. It's probably an inside job where someone is eating the difference - pun intended.

FDA, PLEASE reconsider your allowance of 12% give/take if this is true. There is no reason for it, and zero excuse with today's technology. There should be zero allowance on the difference between brands. Math is math. 15mg is 15mg. This can be fatal to someone dependent on a critical heart medication also. I really don't know how the study is done, but it needs to be changed to monitor blood levels if you're going to blame fillers.

The studies need to be done more frequently, and without KVK's knowledge that it is being done. This will prevent them from changing their formulation, knowing a study is coming up. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM!!!!!

WOW!, I'm amazed at what you said in your post but being an organic chemist it does make sense to an extent. I've been on the kvk brand but 10mg for years now & I had great results with them, being my cicumsrances ( Dr's want me on much stronger meds but I just refuse ) but at my last appointment I was telling my doctor that they just were not helping that much anymore ( I figured a light tolerance only 4* daily @ 10 mg kvk brand ) so she asked me if I would like to go up to the 15mg & drop it to 3* daily, and said she understands I don't want to even be taking these meds but I have a shattered hip & other serious issues, sorry to get off the topic here. So I accepted her advise as she is very knowledgable in medications & that of the human body, especially being we are both women. I took the precription to get it filled, was actually just a little bit more because it was a tier 3 drug, ( yes I know same active ingredient just 5mg or 3.963 actually and after all these years on the KVK, I was given a bottle of a different brand & it was Actavis, I didn't realize this until I was having bad side effects which started as bad headaches then into no pain relief & I just then decided to look at my RX bottle & in the right corner it said actavis. I was shocked being my pharmacy uses only KVK for their oxycodone. Being all my schooling & knowledge into these medications I decided to contact Actavis, & was told that since their big shut down & taking over of Watson that the DEA & FDA both agreed to let them continue to make the medications only if the mixed a little NALTRAXONE in w/ them. So I now see the issue & plan to discuss w/ my doctor next visit for now ill just have to bear it.

Hey everyone. I'm a chronic pain suffer with several torn and damaged disc in L4-L5-S1 area, had my 2nd Mri done 2 weeks ago and the report showed progressive, continual damage all disc are degenerative, herniated, and 2 have tears in them. Ive been taking Oxycontin(ER) 60mg for over 2.5 years with oxycodone IR for breakthrough(use to take perocet until Actavis flooded the market with that horrible A333 pill....OMG that stuff was complete GARBAGE and made lots of people sick.

I have had no problems with the Oxycontin 60mg/3 times daily with couple KvK tech 10mg for breakthrough pain. I had such a horrible experience with those A333 percocet, I will say I am shocked to here that everyone liked the Actavis brand 30 mg oxycodone. I will never put any Actavis product in my body ever ever again.

I do find the Kvk tech brand oxycodone to be very nauseating(i thought this was a sigh of strength rather than cheap fillers, it helps me with my pain enough I guess(Albeit could be the Oxycontin).I try to take as little of the bt meds(Kvk tech) as possible, because they make me super hyper and cause me to sweat standing still... Huge difference in quality of medicine. Perdue labs has a good product, but the delivery system is not consistant, OP 60s generally require you to laydown to get the best results due to the time release bladder around the pill. This bladder releases the medicine slowly. I found that laying down caused the pill to stick to the walls of your stomach, GI tract, etc, and would deliver much better pain relief. After years my body completely adjusted to the amount (6.5mg hourly) in which the Oxycontin was released, I tried the 80mg but found them to just put me asleep and not relieve pain better.

Now I just take the Kvk tech 20mgs/ 3 at a time, 4 times daily.I get nauseated constantly, the one thing the Oxycontin never made me, was nauseated. Kvk tech pill could use some reformulation, it works okay, but for a 20mg I really do expect better pain relief. Its free so im not complaining. My Oxycontin was 1650.00 a month, back when insurance was affordable I had great coverage hut still paid 144.00 co pay 20%. Obamacare is s***ty I will say that, getting my meds is never fun every month, but at least I dont have to pay for them.

To whoever thinks M 30's are good, you are SHOT!!
Kvk-Tech makes the best generic Oxy IR due to their concentration(little to no fillers) in their Oxycodone. I have tried all but the Actavis brand Oxy IR, Kvk-tech is the superior generic brand.
Kvk-tech's 20mg is so much stronger than Mallie's 30mg IR.......I literally have to take twice as many MalinCRAP's to equal the Kvk-tech brand medicine.

I can tell you that Kvk-Tech oxyIR is the best generic on the market currently. Actavis is the worst generic manufacturer, I suppose you didn't hear about their A333's percocet that sent hundreds into the ER??

Those A214s make me feel like I'm on dope with zero effectness on my cancer pain. Who do you work for there company activis Huh? I have to take three 15mg to come close to the pain relief I got from one kvk tech k8 take a look at all the filler on that activis poison pill!!!! I never felt drugged like I do know that I'm on that activis poison pill!! With the kvk tech and a small dosage here 15 mg my pain was completely negated and I felt alive and alert not doped and I didn't feel sick to my stomach.
If anyone out here knows where they carry this in the state of Florida I would travel they were that effective.
Shame my pharmacy was Ike Oh if it was a blood pressure medicine I could order different for you. However, narcotic they can't and will not!!! *how gosh dern fair is that? So take it or leave it..

Re: Joe (# 39) Expand Referenced Message

It is truly amazing how each one of us seem to either get great relief or none from the exact same pharma mfg co. for the exact same medication. I have to take several 30 mg Instant Release Oxycodone daily for my post surgical chronic severe pain in my back. I only want KVK Tech Oxycodone as it is the best I have found for my pain. Yes, I have taken other pharma's manufactured Oxycodone for the same script above and they DO NOT work nearly as well as my KVK Tech Oxycodone 30 mg IR. BY FAR IT COMES DOWN TO THIS: our body chemistries are all different and what may work well for one patient may not in the next patient. In addition, how we all metabolize the same med is all different for all of us. Surprisingly, many doctors are unaware of the differences by different pharma mfg's for the exact same type and strength of a narcotic product. It is TRULY SCARY and incredible what the hell is going on out there regarding this whole scenario. The feds allow a 10-15% variance of even the main ingredient in the manufacturing of yes-- oxycodone!!.... and many, many other med's main active ingredient as well....absolutely ridiculous what is going in the pharma world. Some of these companies are pure and purposely manipulating the making of narcotics. Huge felonious acts by these companies. Another contributing factor in all this is that many, many manufacturers use different "binding agents" which are part of the "recipe" or making of this particular narcotic pill.

I once had my 30mg IR Oxycodone script filled by a small chain pharmacy approx a year ago and they filled it from a mfg named "Sun Pharmaceuticals".....oh my goodness, I got no relief from my pain and I learned a big lesson...only use what works for my body! I was just informed today by my current pharmacy where I found KVK Tech Oxycodone that their supplier can no longer acquire it for their particular pharmacy....so here I go again....trying to find a pharmacy who carries it or CAN ORDER IT FOR ME......and that is a another story in itself. I have also learned many manufacturers are acquiring each other like mad.

I do hope this will give some of you some helpful information of my knowledge and experiences in the pharma world. Nothing like experience with products and "word of mouth" is still the best way to learn of pros and cons of a particular product(s). I wish we all (especially chronic pain people like many of us) did not even have to be concerned with all these pain meds. Oh, that would be so nice. We just want a good quality of life........and I bet I would be seeing all heads going up and down if we were all in a room right now.

Good luck to all of you...and just remember there are always some good folks out there who have conditions worse than our own....Somehow that gives me a little peace of mind when I think about myself...maybe it will help you, too.

I feel for you all. Three days ago I never heard of KVK Tech. Then my pharmacist sold me one of their medications, dextroamphetamine, for ADHD. I experienced next to no medicinal effect, had horrendous side effects and went into withdrawal taking their crap. I found this thread looking for evidence of KVK Tech shorting the active ingredients and including adulterants in its medications. Today I filed a complaint with the FDA.

Google "KVK Tech employee reviews" and read what former employees have to say about this company. KVK is ruthless and does not give a crap about their employees either.

In my FDA complaint I included a link to a former KVK Tech employee post staying how management circumvents FDA regulations and when the FDA visits, the CEO runs and hides because the FDA has banned him from pharma work, per the former worker. It's that bad. I'll never take one of their products ever again.

Re: Dorothy (# 6) Expand Referenced Message

Whoa. Your lecture was so incredibly passive aggressive, judgemental, insensitive and shaming, I'm stunned.
I wonder what makes you so bitter. I seriously doubt any actual "abusers" would take the time to complain to the stores much less file formally, as 90% of prescribed medications are used by legitimate pain patients. (See statistics- not online media hype). The majority of abusers obtain their pills illegally, and take such large quantities, ingesting in ways that it makes little difference. It's the people with intractable pain who truly require them that notice when there's a large discrepancy in pain relief -not euphoria- (as many stated they still felt) due to the substandard manufacturers that skimp on quality and fail to include enough of the active oxycodone necessary to provide adequate pain relief.

The point is there's a marked difference in many generics, I happened to find this site after receiving a generic brand of Oxycodone manufactured by KVK TECH, and immediately knew something was very wrong. I've discovered they not only add the bare minimum of oxycodone (and I highly suspect they are far under that as well) but their inactive ingredients have been scrutinized due to adverse side effects. I've felt no pain relief whatsoever, have felt very ill, and the unmistakable effects of withdrawals. Chronic pain patients who have had success with long term medications that controlled their pain are sensitive to any changes and will quickly respond to inferior pain medications. It's like night/day: having your quality of life suddenly taken away - unable to function because of pain and withdrawals- is unacceptable and cruel. I'm sorry you're an addict, but please don't automatically assume we all are, and that's the reason for the upset in generics. It undermines the reality of KVK's greed and the legitimacy of our complaints. God Bless.

I had been taking 20-milligram oxycodone from the generics and it worked amazingly. I recently switched to that kvk manufacturer and have been suffering from the worst debilitating headache of my life for the last 5 days. So I switched back to generic zydus and they were amazing and don't cause side effects.

Hi. Everyone who is looking for Actavis oxycodone IR, you are going to find they make the 15 mg. I was just switched TO 20mg oxycodone kvk tech FROM 15mg oxycodone IR (Actavis). It sounds like Actavis may not make anything higher than 15mg pills in Oxycodone IR. I PERSONALLY, am very pleased with the Kvk in 20mg as far as pain relief....actually I was happy with the 15 mg Actavis too. IT WAS WHEN ACTAVIS TOOK OVER PERCOCET THAT I, ALONG WITH THOUSANDS TO MILLIONS OF OTHER PEOPLE, WAS HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED. I hope this helped.

Kvk Tech 10 mg oxymorphone is terrible. I had been using another generic for Opana for at least six months with no problems period but because kvk has flooded the market with their cheap garbage it is impossible to find any other generic manufacturers, at least not without pre-ordering from your Pharmacy which can be problematic. My advice is to check the pharmacy beforehand if possible or you will run into serious problems yourself.

you have a serious problem see a specialist.. When I was majorly hooked on perc's I had same issue. I would Google the brand to see if its good and gives a good high. Reading all the treads increased my anxiety and my brain made me feel the pills won't working. Now I do the opposite. When I read these threads I think it's going to kick my ass. And guess what it does. If you re building all these stress hormones thinking the pills won't work you re swimming upstream. stay calm and mellow and all will be good..

I recently received a refill on my 30 mg oxycodon tablets. I've been with same pharmacy for years, never a problem, in fact she told me I wss receiving kick truck the whole time, but this batch wss different, it made my heart race wouldn't let me sleep, couldn't eat. This went on for 10 days, I was ready to commit myself, till I called my doctor and he took me off them, perceived a sedatives, which finally let me sleep, I haven't taken another one since, but out wss like they were cut with speed, like the one guy said street drugs. I'm still sick and slowly recovering but it a long road ahead. Please don't get kvk tech meds, find another way. They will ruin your life like they ruined mine.
