Suboxone AND buprenorphine?
Maybe you mean buprenorphine and nalaxone?
Suboxone is a formulation of buprenorphine with a small amount of nalaxone in it.
Subutex is just buprenorphine alone.
Buprenorphine is pretty strong stuff anyway. It has an affinity for the opiate receptor 30-40x's that of Morphine...several times that of heroin.
It DOES have some street value. I've been on it off and on for years.
Works like a charm to prevent WD. It also competitively inhibits any other opiates from working on you too, but don't think you're in the clear just yet.
You have to let go of your desire to get high from now on. The bup really helps a ton.....but its still up to how bad you want to be clean in the end. Its not magic.

How about Really?, if a Doctor says its not okay but it feels good?, just be F***ing smart about it! I got hit by a tractor trailer (Transport Truck) 5 F***ing years ago!, went from Oxy 80's w/ dilauded 8's to Fentanyl 175!!, I'm getting off it. Yes it takes away the pain but the way's that you have to do it wearing works yes, but doesn't give you that breakthrough like Perc's dilauded or heroin YES HEROIN!!, they are all opiates!, after my accident I even got at a point of shooting heroin & dealing it. These drugs ALL KILL!!, now people just quit writing & posting about things that you know nothing about and trying to gain people's PRAISE!!!, just f***ing deal w/ IT!!, I'm smart about it. I'm going tomorrow to my Dr. To get switched off of this s***ty Satan drug Fentanyl & telling all here. If you don't know your tolerance don't f***ing touch it & if ya wanna get the highest GREATEST FEELING YA CAN??, DO IT UP!!!!, ... Send me an invite to ya funeral lol ...

Obviously you can't just make all these things illegal just because someone got hurt or died from it.

If fentanyl was illegal, then imagine all the other things that would have to be illegal...since they've hurt and indirectly caused the deaths of way more people.

There would be no pain meds of coarse, so millions would be in excrucuating pain after surgical procedures and various accidents etc...
Oxycodone would have to be illegal since it "causes" (Doesnt really cause since the people that take the drugs are the ones actually partaking in the risky behavior. The medicine doesn't jump into people's mouth's or bloodstream's) the death of WAY more people than Fentanyl.
Cancer sufferer's would be left to face unimagineable pain. None of us can even imagine what we'd be forcing them to go thru...all because we don't want to powerful medicines to be available on a black market. That wouldn't be even morally justified....that kind of pain forced on sick people. Simply because we don't want to experience the pain of seeing our loved one's hurt themselves with medicines that werent meant for them.
If we want to keep people from using medicines recreationally, it must be in some other way.

Personally, I wouldn't want to live in a world that just blindly prohibited everything that they discovered to be a vector of accidental death.

No cigarettes, alcohol, driving cars, unprotected sex, pollution....when would it end?

You have to think before you just go crying out "make it illegal!", everytime youre upset.

I just got home from my sister's funeral in southern California today. I helped my brother-in-law pack up all her cloths, shoes, and purses. The most bizar thing that struck me the hardest was the dried barf on herside of the bed (she had beautiful wood floors). She was my beautiful sister and this s*** in a patch killed her!

I agree. I spoke with the doctor who
performed my son's autopsy and she
told me it was alarming and unfortunate
how many cases come back as an
"accidental" overdose from Fentenyl.

It's a popular drug, guess it's easy to get.
My 17 year old son died from it Dec.4th 2011.
He was a happy kid, his senior year.
I just received his portraits in. :(
His friends said it was his first time to
try it and he died in his sleep.
I can't believe he cut it and chewed it.
It gets into the bloodstream faster when
you put it in your mouth, heat and moisture
releases a deadly amount. A neighbors
husband, 43, died after taking a shower
with the patch on. He had surgery and
was prescribed Fentenyl for his pain...
he didn't read that it's FATAL if you shower
or get in the hot tub with it on.
I'm really very sorry for your loss.

Unfortunately it happens all the time with all sorts of medicines. History shows it always has. Not sure if the percentage of people overdosing while using medicines has actually increased though. That would be a real important point for public health investigators to realize though.
I know accidental death from drug poisoning has been the 2nd leading cause of accidental death behind motor vehicle accidents for as far back as most modern stats go....from 1996 to present for sure.

The most frequent culprit in accidental death in recent years 2003-2009 has not been the fentanyl patch though. Its been OXYCODONE. Which makes perfect sense to me with the amount of attention that drug has been getting. Deaths from Oxycodone increased almost 265%. Next highest was Xanax (233%) and after that Methadone down to 79%.
Ive been using methadone for years now and I know that its effects are very free of side effects, so the user is often tricked or tempted to take more and more of the drug until some sort of effect is felt. The problem is that by the time an effect is felt by the user...its often too late. Their respiratory system is depressed too greatly and they fall asleep that way and get hurt or die. I know exactly what they go thru and I'm often tempted to take more than I should b/c I dont even realize how much I've taken sometimes. Keeping track of your dosage is sometimes difficult and confusing for that reason.
Ive used the fentanyl patch 75mcg/nr x 72 hrs for about 2 years. I know exactly why someone would be tempted to try to cut one and put a piece in their mouth for an "immediate-release" effect.
When you are opiate tolerant/dependent from taking opiate meds for so long, your body goes thru an exquisite quality and quantity of pain shortly after (especially fentanyl) the drug wears off. When they are in pain like this, putting on a fresh fentanyl patch is of little help.
The patch takes over an hour before any real effects can be noticed. If someone is in full-on withdrawl AND symptom pain...they dont care about anything except stopping their discomfort...AND I DONT BLAME THEM FOR A SECOND. They want to start to relieve their pain in moments by sucking on a piece of the patch. Then they can stick the rest of the patch on their skin for longer term relief.
Thats why they do it. Those looking for a high or a thrill...wont even bother commenting.

No, no and F**K NO!!! My sister just overdosed on April 17, 2012 from this S**T! Her funeral is May 3rd and she was only 44. We didnt have this crap twenty years ago. Why? After they did her autopsy they found out it was an accident...WHY???? Why would anyone put it in their mouth? I am on here looking for answers...my whole family and her 14 year old daughter need to know why!

Let's be real okay. The blame for the OD lies with your daughter, not the person who gave it to her, if she was under age when she started doing drugs then you are to blame as well. My parents had four children NOT ONE OF US USED DRUGS. Yet I have drug using cousins on both sides of my family. My parents did their job and we are drug and alcohol free. We all have decent incomes and our kids have all remained drug free because they know we will kick their a$$e$. I am so sick of this blame everyone except the actual guilty person when it comes to drug abuse. You failed as parents and your daughter was weak willed. If you want to yell and cuss me out feel free it just continues to show what I believe blame others, and coddle those who need to have the crap slapped out of them and given a reality check

Don't chew them!! I have been chewing them for 2 yrs (100mcg) patch at a time --going thru an insane amount -at least 2 a day-- I have major pain from a car accident & am one of those lucky people that have a high tolerance to meds. I am day 2 with no patches & am taking hydromorph contin 30 mg 2 x day-- with diualud for breakthrough-- I am not happy feel useless but am thankful to not have the sweats--dont abuse your med's take as directed-- it is not worth feeling like this!

indeed i have had buried 6 in the last two years because of different prescribed drugs probably mixed with street drugs or alcohol. and those who believe you would just go peacefully drift away is not always true one of my friends who heart even exploded on hiis couch puking ip black. showed all signs of beind dead but was actually died in the hospital later dont know how it is possible but that has to be a horrible painfull way to go. and you really mess it up for people who need these medicines injured people older people our veterans like me. who have took everything there is and for some reason only the narcotics that have a bad rep because of these addicts, we now have to pay the price for your mistakes. and without proper relief life may not be worth going on without relief. there is alot of stuff out there why dont you just staw away from prescription drugs. and thats a two way street for the people who do get them and give them or sell them to people. best to tkeep it to yourself so they dont get stolen or find there way too makin another funeral i or others dont want to goto
