Is It Okay To Chew A Fentanyl 50mg Pain Patch? (Page 8)

I've been prescribed fentanyl 50mg pain patches and i was just wondering if it's okay to cut one in half an chew on it?

I'm also a nurse and yes, fentanyl on your skin can and has killed. Gloves should ALWAYS be worn when handling it. You call yourself a nurse? Stay away from my family. You should not have a license or call yourself a professional. Fentanyl is dangerous if not handled correctly.

First off, if u value ur life, u wouldn't alter the way u take ur fentanyl. It's not worth the high u r seeking. Tell me, r u still alive? And if so, how addicted r u now? Fentanyl ruins ur tolerance 2 any other opiate u r on and when u run out of ur patches early cuz u chew them, what do u do? Fentanyl IS pharmacuetical heroin, plain and simple!!! U may take the responses as bashing but I would take it as friendly advice from people who have been there and kno where u r headed. A very dark, hard place to come back from!!

I took lortab 10 for over eight years but because of ins. reasons I had to change pm doctors. My new doc took me off the lortabs and put me on Fen patches 25mg then 50. Today I have been on them 18 days. I hate them! I don't know why he did this to me. The lortab worked just fine for my chronic neck problems. Tomorrow (Monday) I'm going to try to find another doctor and figure out a way to not take the patches anymore. I'm so upset about this! If anyone has any advice, please tell me!

Sounds ridiculous if u were gettin relieve from the lortab. Usually they put u on Fent for long term chronic pain and lortab for break thru pain. But.....most Dr's would not just put someone on a pain med equivalent to heroin without the evaluating the patients history ect... If a patient is gettin pain relieve on a lower opiate why then would a Dr put someone on a highly addictive and dangerous drug??? I would have questioned that and refused if that's how u really felt. If u have only been on 10mg of vicoden u really aren't opiate tolerant to b put on Fent 25 never mind 50mcg. It's dangerous. Something doesn't sound right

Hi Annie,
I was on Fetanyl patches about 6 yrs ago. I was on a fairly high dose. But it made me real sick. My dr. presently has me on 60mg of Morphine Sulfate. Whcih seems to be working fine for pain, but I am expiencing many side effects. When i told my Dr, of these side effects, he told his nurse if I am going to complain then maybe I need to find another Dr. Well, he is 2hours away, and he is just about my last chance. Because there are so many Dr.s afraid of the DEA, that if you do become a patient, they prescribe very low dose meds. Which don't do squat for someone who is in a lot of pain. I have never taken Lotab, and I am afraid to even mention any other drugs to use, in the fear that he will send me packing. What state do you live in?
But, If you have the option to find a better Dr. and get off those patches, i say go for it. I'm sorry if I didn't help you much.

I know I'm two years behind on this. I hate that ppl blame others for their loved ones dying. Instead of berating ppl for answering questions on getting high,maybe be glad posts like this are here. If those that had overdosed had come here, maybe they would still be alive with ppl letting them know a good dose to take to get high without killing them. I have been a heroin addict but am not now. I got some 100 Mg patches n know not to chew the whole thing now. I made the decision to do drugs, not the ppl I by them from. If u have never been an addict, u couldn't possibly know how we think. We r going to try to find ways to get high, regardless of who they come from. Its our on fault and a site that has first hand accounts, good and bad, is great when there is a drug we are not familiar with. I'm sorry for anyone who has lost a friend or family member to drugs but, no one sold to them intentionally trying to kill them. Not their fault. I'm glad of this site because I will safely CHEW a piece of this patch and enjoy it

I'm just curious, if u a recovering heroin addict, why on Gods earth would u chew Fent. It's pharmacutical heroi n!!! U r playing a dangerous game that's going to send u right down that road to heroin. U have no control over this. Once an addict always an addict the only difference is an active addict and a recovering addict. U can't say that u can safely chew Fent. Does ur prescribing Dr kno ur a recovering heroin addict? I doubt it because no reputable Dr would prescribe Fent to a recovering addict. Ur playing a dangerous game u won't win in the end.. I say this with the most respect. Heroin is so hard to get off of and I comend u for getting off but now u r playing with it again, only difference is u can get it from a Dr as opposed to the streets. Think about the consequences down the road. Play the whole tape out before u chew Fent. It takes no time and ur hooked. And where do u go when the Fent runs out??? Only thing stronger is heroin. I pray u think about this...It's not goin to end well

Medic,I respect and appreciate your comments and concerns. What is sad about an addict such as myself, I know the consequences of what you have said. A Dr. didn't prescribe these patches to me. I know I can easily slip back into a dark place where I not only want an opiate, but have to have it without getting sick. That's the sickness involved with addict tion. I wish I could claim ignorance in the sense that I didn't know the dangers of what I am doing. I can only claim that I am ignorant for even contemplating doing more opiates. Especially something as dangerous and addictive as fentynal. I know there is no such thing as doing these drugs as 100% safe. Especially when getting physically addicted is considered. I do, however, think these forums are VERY helpful when it comes to how to use a drug, and how much. So many people die from hard drugs because they see a simple little pill, a harmless little patch or a small line chopped out. These don't have the intimidation or stigma a glass pipe, needle, or things that are associated with overdoses do. I'm just speeking from personal experiences form myself and others. People take percocets, do lines of coke, then they see a 100mg oxycontin, a line of heroin. They look about the same but have a huge difference. They think they can do them in the same amount,but we both know the ladder is much more dangerous. Had they looked at a forum such as this, they'd k.own that. Its not about whether they should use the drugs or not, they already know that, and that's not an option at this point. Knowing what they are getting high on, and the amount that should be taken (knowing it could still be fatal of course)is why I believe in education and someway to get information from people who have Ben there and done it. Again, I really appreciate your concern. If I could go back in time, I would never have done any drugs if I had the knowledge I have now. It has ruined many years of my life, and destroyed relationships that can never be mended. I know the question u and millions others have, "why in the he'll would u consider doing any fentynal or any other drugs mjoyner? ". Well, I can't explain that other than I love to get high. I pray that I can overcome this, but no one can understand the battle I have in my mind. Only if u have been an addict and, done the things I have done, can u begin to understand. Thanks medic!

I was seeing a pain manangement doc and have been on things like oxycontin and mscontin for years. I recently moved to another country in the middle east and they only have ms contin and fentanyl patches. I asked to have the mscontin refilled and the doc wrote the script but the pharmacy was out. I called every pharmacy in the city and only two carry controlled drugs which are tramadol-they trigger seizures (i am epileptic also) and ms contin. Guess what, the other pharmacy was out also and said that the ministry of health only lets in a certain amount twice a year and won't get any in for at least six months... so i was put on fentanyl patches. The doc gave me 25 mcg ones but said i could use up to three at a time if one or two dont work. I put them on and got no relief. I am not ashamed to say i like opiate highs also so i cut the 25 mcg in half and i suck (not chew) on it throughout the day and it works much better. When my refill time comes I still even have some left. You are all freaking me out about dying by chewing the patch. I think that it def depends on your tolerance and mine is very high. Also-stop blaming drug dealers- We make our own choice to hunt them down and buy, they don't force us. I am sorry for anyone who has lost someone to drugs, but blame the drugs, not the dealer. Also, I guarantee that some of you berating recreational users are overweight- maybe you should look into your addiction to food. Some people enjoy shopping, some eating, some getting high. Get over it- and did you know that you are more likely to seize or die from alcohol withdrawal (which is legal) than opiates (even though you will feel like you are dying).

everyone is different. if i snorted a 30 dollar roxi, i'd feel a perfect sedation and high for about an hour and then need more. im sad to hear your daughter passed, and from a dose I take multiple times daily... wow. this is the case many times with unexperienced users taking large doses unaware of the dangers of opiates. Ive been a pain patient for years, and now have a huge tolerance and depandance issues. I dropped out of the suboxone clinic once already. Oxy has been my main crutch but it helps my pain but gets me high and that has been the vicious cycle i got myself into...f***ing shakes and waking up with cold sweats some nights.. I wanted you to know that OP is extended release Oxycodone, the same opiate as Percocet, but the OPs were supposed to make it harder to chew up and make it all release at once and your daughter and many others obviously have found ways around it.... and many have actually resorted to harder drugs because they changed the formula.

Anyways I wanted to ask anyone here, I have a 15 mcg Fent Patch someone gaveme, on my wrist and some promethazine and some roxicodone i took im still in a bit of pain... ill wait a bit but would it be safe to chew like 10 mcg of it? thats just a lil bit ? or would it be better to keep it on my wrist for a few days

No No & No. The only opiates in pill form are hydrocodone & OxyContin. Hence wut they've done is make them out of bee's wax which I'm allergic too yay!!! Honestly he must a done somethin else b/c Fent "WON'T" kill you any tolerance unless you iv'ing it w/ a needle ...

I had a huge opiate tolerance - could go through ten 80oc in 24 hours. I used to eat 100mg fentanyl patches - sometimes two within 3 or 4 hours. I passed out from them at least a dozen times and am EXTREMELY lucky not to have stopped breathing. I understand the temptation but, if you're going to do it, take a very small amount and wait an hour or two to see how it's affecting you. Btw...once you've been hooked on it the withdrawals are an absolute nightmare.

I have run the gambit on narcotics. And if you think the only two opiates is hydrocodone, and oxyies then you aren't to bright.

Ftynal chewer- Yeah an uneducated teenager really knows the consequences??? people with that attitude is why others die every day. This is not something you can do back and redo. You OD once and your gone. No going back. Try chewing gum and leave the patches to someone responsible that needs them

How about all the Fentanyl this "30 year old teen" can chew wtf is the point it wears off after 1/2 the half life as heroin or especially methadone in not sure if ANYONE on here has enough disrespect on here to say anything to me or down talk me because I A.
