My battle buddy cuts a quarter inch strip and instead of chewing it he places it on his upper or lower gums. Says he needs another quarter inch strip in the evening. But for him, poor dumbass; he uses his three day patch in two days so each month he is out during the last ten days. I keep telling him it would be a good time to quit; but he always resets the agony clock when he gets his new months supply. Weird he sleeps a LOT less when he is out.

So it seems we have everybody from all walks of life here spouting their opinions. I love it when people mention that they shouldn’t tell anybody and keep it quiet so on and so forth then they post to the public here. Seems that they need attention. Many people that try totally unconventional ways to get high are looking for attention and if they kill themselves..Well I guess they have succeeded in the ultimate way. For all those who have lost somebody due to this foolishness my sympathy go out to you. Pain management is very complicated and has a long history. Introducing narcotics (or any drugs) via a transdermal system is relatively new thing in medicine. What makes all this tricky is the effect Fentanyl has on people differs. As with all opiates like drugs cross-tolerance is an issue. One of the things I see here is that even for a chemistry student translating the amount of active drug that will be available to absorb will differ. PLUS chronic pain suffers know that what may be enough to relieve pain may also be enough to almost stop breathing. My ex-wife who had stage 4 colon cancer who recently passed away was taking 60mg Morphine SR T.I.D. ( 3x per day) not to mention Perocet for breakthrough AND liquid morphine for breakthrough. That’s a lot of opiates and she was on 50 MCG Fentayl. My advise is to be careful with whatever you do. If you Are a legitimate patient suffering from chronic pain then get your doctor to address this. No one needs to be in pain if there are ways to treat them. The biggest hazard for a opiate tolerant patient in chewing these things is that they were not made for that and can become lodged in your throat due to the jagged plastic edges getting caught in your throat. Most people on pain meds who chew patches are grasping at straws. NOBODY needs to “run out†of pain meds if they legitimately need them. Since Fentanyl is a class 2 narcotic NOBODY can have it on the street because it shouldn’t be their. If it is then either 1. Someone is hurting because they had to sell pain meds for food OR 2. Someone lied and is not in pain but got some doctor to prescribe them some. I hope all the money I have paid in taxes does not go to sponsor people on SSI spending MY MONEY on chewing patches and instead goes out and try to make something better of their life then ONLY getting high. Don’t get my wrong I am a child of the 60’s and have had my share of high’s throughout the last 40+ years. As a great Bay Area newscaster once said…Get high…BUT keep your priorities straight!

Imyself indulge cutting a semi metred dose of 100mcg aproximately 1/16 th of fentanyl patch for me as it is very efective ,using the drug as prescibed I found it way to powerful ,loosing quality of life 24/7 on patch to many drawbacks ,chewing when required better alternitive I dont consider chewing abuse if genuine.

Dude chill out. They warned him about being careful and it's totally his decision. I'm 16 and use about 1mg (not ug) a day for social anxiety and depression. You can control how fast you absorb it by chewing faster and to slow down hold it on your teeth as it only absorbs through your gums when chewed. Do what you want, but be warned, fentanyl is nearly 8-50 times stronger than heroin and pretty bitter. It's a lot safer than putting it on your skin if you're abusing it for a euphoria though, as you stop chewing if you pass out. If you pass out from low respiratory activity while it's on your skin then you're f***ed. Rule of thumb: if you feel either very nauseous, a strong euphoria, extremely weak or tired, or catch yourself breathing very slow, then you're close to overdosing and need to stop immediately. Afterwards focus on staying awake and breathing. If you pass out or fall asleep you can't control your breathing, and if you stop breathing you die... Have fun! :D

Anyways, when you said the one of two things you were way off, there are endless possible scenarios and it's very hard to determine. For all you know, SWIY bought the patches from a space alien who had acquired a years supply of fentanyl patches from a canteloupe god... Not just a chronic pain patient looking for food money or a liar. These patches are fairly expensive, even with insurance. Without insurance the cheapest pack of 10, 100 ug/hr patches I've come across were over $449. With insurance it usually ranges from 10-60. If SWIY were not insured, and intended to sell these patches for food, SWIY would likely be making no more than $200 profit per 10 pack. I highly doubt they'd be insured seeing as SWIY "can't afford food."

hi, i smoke the non gel patches every single day and chew them, the best way to do it, is to chew a piece about the size (or a bit less) than your PINKEY fingernail! NO MORE AT ALLLLLL until you have full effects kicked in. if for some reason u have a MONSTER pinkey nail than do half that amount. the size a smoke or chew is about the size around as the plug on the end of a pen, so very small indeed.

aND PEOPLE PLEASE FOR F*** SAKES, JUST ANSWER THE QUESTION, stop ranting about why its a bad idea, he for sure knows its a bad plan to take fent as a recreational drug of choice. and knowing so he just wants to know how to do it, so bro, read my other message below this one, i do fent every day and never change the dosage, maybe the patch size changes but still cut the same size pieces every time, and i never touch the gel patches. if SMOKING cut a piece the size of a normal pinkey fingernail and for eating or under the tongue, do about the same, and do NO MORE until it had kicked in fully or u will vomit and or die, thats it no if and or buts. but its an awesome rush, just please for the love of s*** dont die. be suuuper carefee and enjoy. just teenie tiny little squares at a time, like A QUARTER THE SIZE OF A DIME!!!!!!!!,(THE COIN)!!!!. THATS WELL MORE THAN ENOUGH FOR A DOSE RANGE.

I was hospitalized for 8 months on morphine GALORE!! Fentanyl I am now on 175 (so 2 patches) for "BREAKTHROUGH" only! I take 50mcg's which is equal to 50mg of morphine. After taking my fentanyl prescription it is strong and relieves the pain. Someone "Non Opiate" tolerant would have a hard time tolerating this drug.

Well said my friend. So very sorry about your wife. My father is also suffering through stage 4 liver,skin and pancreatic cancer. As no living creature human living thing should have to go through. Several narcs prescribed same cocktail as your wife was taking or close. He is taking 150 of the fentenal patch tho watching him go thru this and seeing his pain is....is I can't even find words to describe it? Hearing these forums angers me...saddens me for everyone the cancer patients. Chronic pain patients as well as the addicts who suffer. The highs are great I will admit...I was a active addict for 10yrs, inactive and recovering will be a battle for life. But with that I have life....not cancer, not a possible OD. After going thru watching someone who needs needs needs pain meds has brought me to a different level in my own battle of not needing them but wanting them. I have no pain greater then watching him die and no high can make that pain subside. Sucks. To be numb thru this would be wonderful....to be high enough I maybe could fog some of the grueling sights but I have a deep respect that god continues to humble me and shows me the difference between a want and a need. Life and death.

I chewed little pieces of a patch just to make Norco withdrawals go away. I chewed .25 of a patch in small increments for a couple of hours last night. Woke up early this morning with crazy restless legs and sweaty cold grossness. I don't want to get high I just want the wds to go away. Am I doing it wrong?

I TOTALLY AGREE there are so many of us who take pain medications for real pain unbearable pain in my case people use abuse medication is the reason people like me are having trouble getting medication i never have a pain free day ive never been buzzed im not looking for a buzz just a little relief daily my pain level is 4 to 9 and i have ghad 10 level 4 is manageable 9 and 10 are unbearable im not trying to be judgemental but i nearly lost a family member recently it was so tramatic watching waiting and wondering if he would come out of it alive
