Is It Dexedrine Er Or Adderall

Updated

My daughter has had very treatment with the prescription of dexedrine 15 mg extended release spansules for many years. Recently, a different pharmacy filled it for what turned out to be labeled as "dexedrine sulfate(salts)" and my daughter's behavior was worse.
She has never tolerated adderall. That particular pharmacist said it is all the same. The other pharmacies say it isnt. Now, years later, at a pharmacy just purchased by the Kroger that supplied the adderal mix before, she has received spansules from corepharma that do not seem to match and the behavior is again intolerable. Of course the pharmacy says its just generic. How can i tell? Being so controlled its mot like i can just go get a different bottle somewhere else and i hear the se thing as others about the warehouse. She needs the right meds, but the wrong is very bad for her of this is adderal.

Hi, Elizabeth! Sorry about the problems you're having.

What are the markings on them?

That is what would enable them to be identified.

If you can post back with this information, I can check for you to see if it is the correct medication.

Elizabeth,

I am not in my office, containing my resources/references. but I do know for a fact, that Glaxo Smith Kline sold the patent rights to Dexedrine Spansule 10mg, and Dexedrine Spansule 15 mg, "tapered end" capsules, that, have been on the USA market since 1952, in October of 2010. Prior to that, the AWP of Smith Kline (the founders of USA d-amphetamine) mergered with Beecham in the mid 1980's,
and even after a 3rd merger in the mid 1990's, Glaxo of UK, merged with SKB. The REDBOOK price "Pharmacy's fundamental Reference" AWP for 90 capsules of Dexedrine Spansules (both 10mg and 15mg ER) held steady for decades at around $100.00 per 90 count bottle sold to the pharmacies. However, since the GSK merger, by 2008, the price of Dexedrine Spansules (ER) had risen 300% (Reference REDBOOK 113th edition) year 2009. To make matters worse, GSK sold their patent on Dexedrine Spansules in October of 2010 to a joint venture pharma firm, known as Core Pharma Inc., allegedly (citation needed) with a larger non-USA outfit from either India,or Israel. Heresay is that Dexedrine Spansules, have increased further, since the 3 year contract, with GSK, and the agreement stated, that Core, could retain all rights, by the year Oct 2013, by patent holder GSK (US headquarters Triangle Park NC, world hdqtrs, in the UK.

I have been on original SKF Dexedrine Sulfate 5 mg, since 1997, and, Dexedrine Spansules since that same year up until 2009, when I switched, to Barr labs, of Sellersville PA, 100% owned by Teva of Israel. I could not tell a significant difference with the Barr/Teva generic, BUT THE CORE LABS amphetamine+damphetamine salts, made me ill the very first week I tried sampling their Generic Adderall, with my M.D's approval. Now I have no insurance, and I cannot afford the FDA superior Grade AA, and AB, of both brands, because, neither one is made anymore by the original mega pharma firms. Dexedrine Sulfate, (citation needed) I believe is now made by Teva/Barr in the I/R 5 mg orange triangular tabs, that SKF introduced in the USA in 1937. The ER spansules are yet make by another small pharmaceutical group, with prices, that are outrageous, for a medicine that has been on the USA market, from 50 to 85 years. Yes, there was a shortage of both Adderall brand, generic, Dexedrine 5mg I/R "sulfate" and the ER versions in 2011, and 2012. expecially. GSK has sold out their patent rights, also in Canada, as well as their mother country UK, as well, I call this price gouging. Yes I blame Shire US Pharma for starting this I justice, by promoting, their patented brands of stimulants, like Adderall ER.

One last thing, my research, back in my office, shows, that Roche Labs did the same thing, with their "Valium"Diazepam with a price increase of nearly 500% from the early 1990's to 2009. Ranbaxy of India, with 2 USA plants, did the same thing with the patent from Eli Lilly for the barbiturate Seconal, with another 400 to 500% price increase, and they were hassled so much by the FDA, allegedly, Seconal in now still made, but, at a wholesale price of at least five dollar each for 100 mg, vs. much less that $100.00 in the mid 1990's. Obviously, sales, have plumented on all meds discussed above, due to most all insurance companies, refusing to pay the hijacking of prices, on my examples. We without insurance, like, me, are in a bind, and struggle with other options. Sources: PDR Inc, (USA) 2007, 2011, Martindale, Complete Parmacopaeia, London UK,.
