No, Spironolactone is a diuretic, it reduces the amount of fluid in the body, it will not help regrow hair.

Do you mind if I ask who gave it to you for that purpose?

i am actully a pharmacist i can tell you that spironolactone is effective in reducing any further hair loss and treating acne as both problems are a result of excess androgen levels (male hormone) and the drug has an addition anti-androgenic property so dnt worry.

LI have been taking 100 mg of spironolactone twice a day for hair loss after having ovarian surgery. Within six months of the surgery, which I had in my 50's, I had lost a significant amount of hair and it was continuing. My doctor prescribed 200 mg of spironolactone, to be taken in the morning and before bed, and tested my blood every 3 months for side effects. None have occurred, and I my hair has regrown. I have been using this drug for almost 8 years now and all remains well.
If you are taking this drug for hair loss, make sure that your doctor monitors your liver and performs the necessary blood tests. My experience on this drug has been a good one.
