Hydrocodone Vs Norco

Updated

My doctor recently gave me hydrocodone 7.5 for pain. It's not controlling my pain. My brother told me I should try Norco. That's what he takes for pain and it works. What is the difference?

The originial post here is old, from over a year ago, but I just want to make sure the correct information is available for others who may read this post in the future.

Contrary to what was previously posted, Norco is not just a 10mg Hydrocodone, there are several doses available.

That said, the only difference between what you are taking and what your brother is taking is the name. Norco is a name brand for the narcotic pain reliever containing Hydrocodone and Acetaminophen and you have a generic version.

However, his dose could be higher than yours, or his pain might not be as severe, which could explain why he gets better relief than you do.

I suggest talking to your doctor and letting them know that this dosage is just not working for you. It does come in a max of 10mgs of the Hydrocodone, and there are other alternatives you can try if the Hydrocodone just doesn't work for you at all.

If you were to look up the diffrence between Norco and Vicoden you will find that Norco has less tylenol. The drug was created after Vicoden (hycocodon) becouse the higher levels of Tylenol can be damage your liver. Norco can be boosted by taking Tylenol with it. Not a great idealong term if you value your liver.

I take norco & Celebrex twice a day most of the time, three when the pain gets really bad. I have started having bloated feeling in the pit of my stomach, also I am drowsy a lot and confused a lot. Which could be my age. I am 70 years. I have had 2 back surgerys. Could norco and Celebrex be causing this? Thanks for any help.

Norco has just a little bit more of the hydrocodone in it than it says vs The generics, they have exactly what amount they say. You can go to the pharmacies and ask them too, most of them will tell you this but there are some that dont want to say.
