Can this medication cause constipation.? prescribed for pain relief.

This tablet contains 750mgs of Acetaminophen and 7.5mgs of Hydrocodone, the active ingredients in Vicodin, Lortab or Norco.

And yes, it is a narcotic pain reliever, so constipation can be one of its side effects, along with dizziness, drowsiness and nausea.

An additional note to add is that the FDA has requested that all such medications be changed to lower the dosage of the Acetaminophen in them to a maximum of only 325mgs, due to the danger associated with its toxicity and overdose.

Some manufacturers have already begun to implement this change and the rest are expected to have done so by January 2014.

Thus, at any future point, anyone looking for information on this tablet, in case Watson continues to use this imprint, should double check and not just assume that it still contains 750mgs of Acetaminophen.
