Yes, this is hydrocodone/acetaminophen. It is generic hydrocodone 5mg with acetaminophen (or tylenol, and the same as APAP) 500mg. This is generic for Vicodin, Lortab among others. It is a schedule 3 controlled substance that is a very addictive painkiller used for moderate to severe pain. Side effects include drowsiness, euphoria, dizziness, constipation, among others.

I'd just like to update this post to add some more recent information, since there have already been some changes implemented in some areas concerning this medication and there are still more under consideration.

Due to what the FDA and DEA feels is overuse and over prescribing of this medication, they have been actively switching it to be only a short-term use medication. This started over the last few months of 2012.

I am not sure how strictly it is being enforced, yet...but they are trying to make it so that it can only be prescribed for a few weeks, right after someone has had surgery, been in an accident, or similar situations where injury has occurred, but the pain is expected to only last for a short period of time.

If anyone requires long-term treatment for pain, they are actively trying to have them switched to other medications.

I think a great deal of the concern may also be caused by the fact that this medication contains Acetaminophen, which can cause liver damage with long-term use and it can be toxic if someone takes too much of it in a day.
