I've been taking oxycontin oc with different mgs. and now I just recieved these new oxycontins that are 30 mgs. op and I cant get them to break down so that I can inject them I'm really going through some terrible withdraws. can some one please give me some advice so that I can? Thank you

Well I did it 10 min ago. Easier than i thought. Dr's can't even hit my veins. Guess Satan made it easier for me. Nothin yet. No relief or anything. It was 40 mg. If u don't hear from me by tomorrow evening..... DONT TRY THIS. I am just so desperate for pain relief. Please pray for me. I don't want to die. I'm just trying to hang on till Sept. The hospital bill collectors won't keep calling and I feel I have no way out. Good luck to u all. Next post: tomorrow evening. In God, I TRUST.

I have no insurance and need surgery but w pre existing conditions i can't get group insurance till Sept. The new oxy's just DON'T WORK. ice never shot up before but am desperate for pain relief. I'm scared. I've removed the outer coating and am about to melt it down.'i guess I then use water for the injection? Can I just use it as a shot in my bottom or does it have to be intravenous? I could die if I don't do this correctly. please help!

OK People - know this: Doctors are NOT our friends! We are rarely even "people" to them, instead we are simply OBJETS that happen to breathe. We might just as well get used to it. As soon as we accept these facts we'll be able to reduce their power over us.

Sometimes (4 myself anyway), It's difficult to understand exactly who some comments are directed 'at' or 'for'-unless U directly name them in UR post. Stop with the cryptic BS and just call it as it is.

I probably don't 'belong' under the topic line of the postings; yet this is what I came across in my search and screw it, some people have seen that I have never passed judgement on HOW a person uses the drug or by what means, or to what end~ I don't know their situation, and have not walked their walk. It has helped me(I should say other posters), and I am grateful for that.

The only thing I can't tolerate is people making blanket statements; ie..."You're all junkies or all not so you don't belong here". If that is your agenda, go someplace else; if not, let us talk about a good drug that was made crappy and how best to get what we need from what we had, regardless of INTENT. Don't judge, take what you need, leave the rest.

Thenk you very much Hucklebery. I know this is all not the safe way, but I live in so much pain that i almost committed suicide. I have found other ways to cope with my pain and thank you for the help with your suggestions. It worked. I dont want to get high, i want to be PAIN FREE, even if it is for just a little while. Thanks alot my friend.

Don't know if you were speaking to me (T.giver), though if you really have deformed joints in your fingers, etc-and your mom has this also~were you 'snorting' or anything that would cause the dr. to just drop you like that?
If not , FIRE this DR. / they have a case of HUA (head up ass). There are many types of arthritis~I empathise w/you as my mom has RA and she is hurting I can tell. Get a 2nd and or third ,etc..... Bound to be a dr,,who can correctly diagnose and treat you right~don't go to jail because there may be a few incompetent ones' around! Good Luck=) RA.

wow i read your story and i so symapthize with/for you I dont have nothing so severe i believe i have some form of arthritis and my mom has it really bad and all the fingers on my hands have become deformed at the joints i cant even straighten them out anymore I had blood work done and came back negative for arthritis and so the doctor cut me off my pain meds now i hurt constantly and its moved into my knees and hips and i wake up in the middle of the nights in terrible pain i have come to the conclusion theres just no hope for getting back a prescription so i know have to buy them on the black market and pay outrageous prices and criminalize myself to relieve my pain but what else can i do

Actually, my Gods' name is not Jesus. I worship coming from the word (worthy) Jehovah God who is Jesus' Father. My work is to preach the Good News of the Kingdom which is the Messianic Kingdom or Government that will soon be ruling over this earth. See Daniel 2:44 and Matthew 24:14. Why don't you stick to minding your OWN business and maybe, just perhaps stay the hell OFF of injecting sites if they offend you and ur purse so much. Always some a*hole preaching some s***. Why dont you to SPELL before u start preaching to the chior... How dare u even assume to know what people's situations are are begin to preach to them, no less? For shame on you .. Oh, and another 'preacher' checking out sites for injecting drugs.. What a hypocrite.

WarWalker - I have been thinking about you all weekend. Does the opana work for you? I was sent to a pain clinic that was an hour and a half away from were I live and can you believe, my doctor didn't send them anything about me? NOTHING, the doctor wanted to know what "he could do for me"? I was so disgusted. And no, our doctors don't listen to us, even though we "live" in our bodies. Please try to stay strong, easier said than done, I know. But please do let me know if the opana works for you. Maybe I'll try to get my doctor to switch me. I am so tired of being in pain. I posted an "update" specifically for 'OP' & 'Wtarin1'~as well as anyone who may get help/comfort/ or like me, the ususal catch-22 ( ie....'The great thing is you won't die!!!~~The downside is, well, you'll wish you did, ;>} ). Anywho it took me quite a bit to post & I must have passed-out from pain-not long- it was still there so I finished, though it has not appeared?

Thank you, OP, for suggesting Opana. I took on empty stomach as directed and could really begin to feel the pain easing up, so I know it would probably work for me. The problem is my Dr. got out his little 'comparisson chart' and said well, 80mg of Oxy is =to 20 mg. of this (Opana). He knew I was taking 3 x 80mg of oxy a day before. I told him for last 3weeks I had put myself through withdrawls down to 2x 80mg a day; I felt as I was being poisioned and it scared me enough to go deeper into 'Painland', though by no means was I OK on that dose and reverting to 22 hrs. prone & suicidal thoughts. He handed me a script, said,"stop oxy's, take one of these in AM, onePM and I'll see you in 2 wks." So, to get a good idea if they work like the three 80mg oxy's that barely made my life livable, I am to take a total of 40mg of this other A DAY?
After 10 yrs. of what I am sure is a certain amount of tolerence? "Well you said you were down to 2 oxy's".

Heavenly Lord, man. Have you not heard me? LOOK at me~I am full of red blotches, can hardly breathe, itch everywhere and just projectile vomit everyplace I go-I said I felt it was the lesser of 2 EVILs, I want to avoid eating DRAINO' if I can. Soo.....I am taking the 20mg Opana (2) during the day and 1 80 oxy at night. It is clear now that I do not feel as sick and the blotches go away during the day; although this will be the 3rd night w/ no sleep Can two 20mg of Opana really replace 240mg. of oxy?

I would imagine some are thinking , "Jeez, get a new Dr." Well, where I live , they see 'disabled', GSW w fragments in body (no, I'm not a criminal), oxycontin, medicare, etc... and forget it-they suddenly become 'full'. Any way, I wanted to say Thank You again to OP and wtarin1-the advice and prayers mean alot-and will go both ways. God Bless.

Even though it was like pulling teeth:"I have other people on oxy, you are the only one complaining"- as the red blotches stretched out from my hairline, I fought to hold back the vomit and could swear that the pain banging in my legs, feet, neck and head were so loud that anyone could hear them. Even so, I still know how to communicate in a civilized manner- I explained my symptoms, the time frame and my OPINION of what was happening. His nurse (who has been there also for most of this whole ordeal) was 'staring' at me and said, "you look terribly pale and are getting hives on the back of your neck" The Doc still didn't want to hear it. I took offense to his saying I was 'complaining' and comparing me to other patients. I told him I had called FDA and Purd. Pharm., and I was "NOT the Only one" - could provide the #, although I thought that after 9 years of me being straight-up and never having an issue w/ meds. - I did not think I needed anything more than my word and his exam to see that something was wrong.

He angrily got up and stomped to the door-"this bull.." He returned and I said, "Look, if you were allergic to peanuts, I certainly would not call you a 'complainer' and feed you more, that would be bull..." He had been giving me 80mg oxy x 3 or 4 a day - I had never asked for more in 10 yrs., even asked to go to 3 when I was doing well.

He gave me Opana 20mg x 2 a day for 2 weeks. I asked if that was enough to stop w/d symptoms as he said 'stop oxy and take these' ~guess we'll see. We can discuss dosage in 2 weeks. Well I will say two last things=--- Praise God! These opanas work! Trouble is, 40 mg a day is not enough to switch for 240mgs. of Oxy. So, I am feeling better during the day, then up all night w/ allergic reaction to those crappy 'oxy-meltedplastic-glue new things. Second, I asked nurse afterwards as his behavior stunned me~she whispered, "he has to fill out some forms + you being on Medicare and all" - Well, la-ti-f***in'-da, I'll be crying him a river after 2 weeks of no sleep, not breathing and itching my skin off. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers, guys-here's hoping I can get the opana dose adjusted in 2wks.

WarWalker - You are absolutely right. I will NO longer be the battering ram for the Dr. I am so sorry for your situation. I am not as bad as you but I was also told I only had two months to live, that was 7 years ago. And I like you had no warning about the switch. The switch has caused so many problems for so many people. We are helpless to the doctors and Purdue. Just praying they will see the error and help us chronic pain suffers. May God be with you and my prayers are with you.

If you are looking for an alternative for oxy you need to try opana er. Highest dose is 40mg but dr can write to take more often. Its a miracle pain med for me and I was taking 80oxy 4xaday. Anyway. Try opana and see how it helps you. Another good thing about opana is if you eat it will increase the effectiveness of the drug so you can eat and not have to worry that your pain med effect will decrease because when I took oxy in the past if I ate I realized that my meds were not working as well so I wouldn't eat. Now I can eat and still have pain relief. Hope this helps you.

Hello; I am having a terrible time with the new formulation of oxycontin ~ I know it is not psychosomatic, as my goal has always been to cut down my pain meds. if I could/can, and my Dr. is well aware of this. I have a complicated mess of issues ( traumatic accident/ crushed L side cyatic above my L butt cheek/lower back + 7 discs out) this gave me bi-lateral peripheral neuropathy in both legs and feet w/ severe 24/7 pain-left me prone for 3 yrs. The Dr. I had would not give me ANY pain meds at 1st "not gonna give you narcotics just because you SAY you're legs/feet hurt". Anyone familiar w/ this condition can tell you it can be excruciating. I tried and tried to do phys. therapy, usually ending in me poring with tears (not emotional kind) and passing out. The asshole-(sorry, Dr i mean) finally gave me 10mg oxy a day. ;) To me, it was like throwing a band-aid at a punctured Aorta artery-an insult. I tried so hard I tore both my Radial Nerves in both forearms! The whole phys.therapy team went with me to this Dr. as I 'fired' him ( I had to secure new Dr. 1st, on medicare they did not like, because i lost my job and 'COBRA' ran out) Finally, a guy got me in w/ a knowledgeable Dr. "One time only, I don't take medicare" I had this list & speech all ready-he just asked me to do several things, stood back and said, "My God, man, you are not getting proper treatment! I will be your Dr. from now on." What a pitiful sight I must have been. A 190lb. athlete reduced to a wimpering blob of 155 that shrieked at anyones touch. He gave me 120mg. of oxy ER right there. My life changed again that day!

In 1 1/2 yrs. I had all my discs back in, walking with arm crutches fairly well, still in major pain, but hey, when you have been to hell, the side of the barbeque pit ain't that bad. Later that year i began having pain in the upper part of L side of my body and they found a tumor in the R Parietal Lobe of my brain, "unoperable, terminal w/in a yr." I started having seizures.

Well, that was 7 years ago. I am not 'cured', but I'm not dead, either. I had to get a new 'Dr. as mine moved on, and he basically just refers and maintains me-kind of like and old classic car, part way into reconstruction. Well, I am allergic to a lot of things-had some oxy saved up (they are with a parent, in lock-box.) I offered this as a sort of 'olive-branch' to the new Dr., to show trust. They have known my mom for many years-she won't even take an asprin without "OK" from the Dr.---so I get a 'day-pack'-no access to bottles, etc..

Well , she would rotate new with the ones I had extra-That way I could go on a vacation and not freak out if it was near end of month, etc.. Well, my Dr. did not inform me of the formula switch, nor pharmacy, I did not read it in news. I started to become very ill again, almost as if I was 'backsliding'. Pain increased, itching terrible, low fever after ingesting, burning sensation in my stomach, I thought it must be the brain tumor, so another round of MRI's , hospital, blah, blah. I waited, got sicker. "No, not this, that etc.." I finally realized it was the Oxy and started looking and found this - although I would have posted under another thread. I felt relieved to know I was not the only one! OH-BUT WAIT! The f***ing co. says "they're the same, just fixed so people can't shoot or snort them" Well, I did neither, and do not pass judgment on those who do - I have not been in their shoes, but damn it all if I can get my Dr. to take my side and change or something. These are making me SO sick. I can not eat again. 22 hrs. in bed, AGAIN! I feel like it is poison building in my system. I put myself through withdrawal ON PURPOSE, to take the pain over poison. Everytime I get ready to call the Co. and get the # dialed, I PASS OUT! This took me 6 hrs. to type. Finally going to plead my case w/ Dr. again, with this new source saying - see it's not just me. God help us all that are struggling with this. Any Med. alternative that are realistic suggestions, I would appreciate. Thank you; p.s. Dr. Abrahms - if you are - stop bantering back and forth with wtarin - it takes 2 to tango - and you are doubles peaking. He can't fight alone.

AMEN sister! nah' for real though, I believe that ALCOHOL is much dangerous than taking a few purcs, etc...I don't believe in taking them with needles, but hey, "to each his own"!...just like I'd prefer a Caffreys beer over a Miller! So, what is the deal with the Dr's hault on everythung? Raise the taxes on it and start stocking it on shelves! Not talking bout' the heavy stuff, i.e. - morphine, OC, eyc...just start with the avg. norco/hydros! People, like myself, who have had a "hangmans" fracture from a car accident, broke several C verts and T's in back. I have very high metabolism, very very high, so much, I eat like 5-8 meals a day...so does that effect my pain tolerance level any? and y is there a liquor store/beer store on every corner, which makes people more "out-of-it" and DUIs, families messed up b/c drunk driver, etc...weigh pros and cons...A. Abuse levels would lower, people would "respect" the "pills" more, AND I guarantee you'd see far less fatalities due to drunk driving, less "bottle-guzzlers", more people off the streets, and if anything, at the worst they'd have to open more rehabilitation cntrs...so?? WHAT'S the BIG DEAL and WHY? Is it political? or political?

I haven't read a single, enlightening, educated thing you have written. It is all vial, hatred and anger. As I mentioned before, PLEASE see a Psychiatrist and really deal with your emotions.

Have you spoken to your pain physician about Butrans®? It is a new medication, in the American market. Maybe that might help you and you won't be so angry with the world, because you cannot get all of the narcotics you want!

By the way, people that continually HAVE to mention "how educated" they are, means the exact opposite. You definitely have so much learning and research to keep you busy, rather than acting as if this forum is your personal Dr. Phil!

Talk to your Doctor about Butrans. It is made by the same company that offers Oxycontin (Purdue Pharma L.P.). It comes in a skin-colored patch. It is extended release and may help with your pain.
