How Long Should I Wait To Take Suboxone After Methadone

I take 50mg of methadone everyday for 3 years went up as high as 200 mg but tapered down to 50 but for the last month I have dosed once every 3 days so I have been without methadone for 3 days now when can I take my dose of suboxone utterly scared of pre withdrawal please help

You have to be in full withdrawal, before taking Suboxone, or it may throw you into dangerous precipitated withdrawals, unless your doctor instructs you otherwise.

The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

I also am on methadone ..and I can tell you from experience if your not completely off methadone for at least 2 weeks..epically since you been on it for 3years I wouldn't even chance take suboxin until you been off the methadone at least a few weeks..I'm on 150mg everyday .I tryed the suboxin I took myself off the methadone for over a week and it didn't matter no even 10min after I took the suboxin.. I was n full precipitated withdraw I wanted to die ...so you really should be completely off methadone for awhile before take suboxin or your gonna regret it.

Yeah if you have been on methadone over 6 months you should wait atleast 4-5 days before even changing suboxone. You'd be better off going from methadone to short acting opiate subs. Avoid PRECIPS at all costs.

Don't ever take buprenorphine in any form until you are in moderate to severe withdrawal. Time has nothing to do with it. It's your body's metabolism. If you take it to soon you will put yourself into precipitated withdrawal. I have experienced this and it's no joke! If you thought regular withdrawal was bad times it by 1,000 and add some hallucinations. I actually had thoughts of suicide just to stop what I was going through. There is nothing you can do to relieve it! Only time and that all depends on how much you use and how long you waited to take it. I was in intense precipitated withdrawal for about 4 to 5 hours. Then I felt like I was in regular withdrawal for another 10. It has now almost been a day and I still feel awful. I'm going back on methadone and tapering off slowly to 30 milligrams and I'm gonna do this right. Wait till I feel like I'm in full withdrawal before taking buprenorphine.

Hi I need to know this I've been on Methadone for many year's now I'm only taken 20mls daily I have Subtex to take I was told to wait 36 hours after methadone to take Subtex is this right.

I've not taken any methadone in 72 hours now but i still feel "manageable". It comes in waves, then goes (chills, aches, yawning) but I'm not sweating, my pupils are "normal" size and I'm still eating ok, yet sleep isn't really gonna happen tonight as i only slept 3 hrs last night. Anyway, I've got 2x 2mg buprenorphine here though I'm not ready to take them yet. I think i definitely need to be withdrawaling worse, and I know what nasty withdrawal feels like, this isn't it yet. My main concern is that I'm SCARED S***LESS to take the buprenorphine, even if I'm fully withdrawing as I'm scared there's gonna be worse to come. It's like the saying "better the devil you know, than the devil you dont." Advice please?

Don't take it yet!! If you've been on methadone that long, you need to wait 6 to7 days!

I wanted to say I just came out of precipitated withdrawal! What holy hell! I have been on methadone for 6 years 115 mlg daily got myself down to 50 mlg for 2 weeks waited more than 72 hours then took 2mlg sub was fine not better just not worse following my doc orders took another 2mlg 90 mins later ok then took another 2mlg after 90 min and o my god. Almost instantly threw me into precipitated withdrawal! This was to say the least horrible ×1000. Don't want this to happen again but determined to switch to subs. When can I try again without goin threw hell! Please help!
