Beware! I've been taking 25 mg hydroxyzine at bedtime for insomnia and severe occasional itching of the feet and hands. Gradually I developed sciatica which worsened in spite of gavapentin, chiropractic, massage therapy, PT. Nothing helped. It only got much worse, to the point I almost couldn't bear the pain and spasms in the early mornings. Doc diagnosed piriformis which was correct ... that muscle was spasming which caused the sciatic problem. By afternoon I was almost pain free, most days. Finally in researching I discovered it was the hydroxyzine. I was scheduled for a nerve block which might have helped a bit temporarily but would not have solved the underlying problem. No more hydroxyzine!!! I had to solve this problem on my own. Next step would probably have been surgery. Praise the Lord for wisdom to research on my own.

I've experienced the following side effects of Hydroxyzine: Serious headaches, sweating uncontrollably, blurred vision, thoughts are very erratic, face and eyes are swollen, hallucinations, insane dreams when I finally fall asleep. I stopped taking this s*** today. Been taking it for a month now. The reactions are getting worse each time I take it. This s*** has wicked side effects on me. This morning was the worst reactions. I threw that crap in the trash before something much more serious happens to me.

Exactly the same. Been on it two months.The sweats, well I'm drenched, horrible headaches in morning, extreme blurred vision, disorientation and dry mouth so bad I can't drink enough. Was given this to try and ween off klonopin. Going in trash.

I have very bad restless leg syndrome. I know that I'm not supposed to take Benadryl that often. But my urologist gave me Vistaril and hydroxyzine to help with chronic systatic bladder. They are supposed to be a byproduct of those two medications that will help this condition. But I am having severe leg pain from my hips to my toes. I have been taking it for a month at bedtime, both of them together. How long will it take to get out of my system?

I feel like I consumed marijuana. I took 25 mg yesterday at 7:00pm and I still feel it. I called my doctor and he reduced it to 10 mg. It works but is just too strong.

Do you mean IF you live... 750mg of Vistaril is quite a lot. It's 7 1/2 times the amount needed to sedate TO SLEEP, a full grown man. It's going to last a long time. Probably days, or eternity. I would say don't do it.

How long does Hydroxyzine 50mg last in your system if you've been taking it for 10 days at night only? I took my first dose on 10/2 through 10/12 and my last dose was taken at 9:00 pm. Is it safe to drink a beer?

Vistril enhanses whithdrawl from gabapentin as gabapentin has the same whithdrawl as Opiods.Its horrible.

When does the half life of this drug BEGIN? Does it start right when you take it? Or is it after the 4-6hrs of the effective time (for sedative effects)? Should a person be experiencing the bad side effects AFTER the time it’s supposed to be effective for?
Why do I experience the side effects of this drug close to when it is supposed to be out of my system (20hrs)? I've had symptoms such as bad headaches, dry eyes and a kind of dry throat. I’ve been taking this med for 4 days in a row (for insomnia and anxiety). Have the side effects GONE AWAY for anyone taking the med more long term? How long did that take?
